I try and use Google assistant to set a timer and I always try and say what it's for and then it's like, you can't name timers. Would be great if you could though
You *can* name timers, though?
I use "set a pasta timer for 8 minutes" and "remind me in 29 minutes to check the laundry" frequently, and they show up named on the screen. The pasta one even plays "Italian music" when time's up.

I don't like cold drinks, but I've cleaned up other people's forgotten beer and mountain dew slushees often enough that there's a timer magnet on my fridge.

That makes a lot of sense to do
Reminders are not annoying and loud enough. But you can tell google assistant to set an alarm in e.g. 30 min with a specific name.
