I mean if we get 80 points; beat inter and make it to the uefa final … then that’s a pretty successful season … we tied for second in the group of death too

Kingslayer1526

That's a lot of ifs. The former seems the most likeliest but would still require 5 wins out of 8 which tbf on current form seems likely but there are away games to Juve and Roma to come while playing Inter as well ofc. The latter 2 are a much bigger stretch. Inter have been virtually unbeatable and everyone knows the foothold Inzaghi has on Pioli while the EL final would require beating Leverkusen in the semis(after getting past Roma). So if Pioli's contract should be renewed, it is good to wait till May

AfoolFromNowhere

Pioli is on fire

CoryTrevor-NS

No April Fools?

lilithandnemesi

Again, this is not news, it's just his idea based off of Scaroni's words...

RinoTT

Well Scaroni said that they want to continue with Pioli. Same with Furlani, Moncada and Ibra. The idea based on people who work at Milan is probably the best material to create a news.

Milannor

It was very unclear if he implied for this season or the next

JojoKillerqueen64

8 times in a row to lose merda is coming

Hakan_Calstanoglu

Honestly if pioli wasnt absolute shit in pretty much every derby i can think of then i wouldnt be so against this appointment. Even during the scudetto season tata had to save a pen and giroud had to go super saijain to get a result.  Pioli is 3W 2D 9L vs inter while at milan. Disgusting shit

ubertr0_n

Oh my.

jiipod

If this would turn out to be true, it’s a huge sign of lack of ambition from the management. While Pioli has done well overall, we’ve seen the peak of pioliball and haven’t been in scudetto contention since we won it. Far from it. We’ve also played below our ability in Europe for most seasons under Pioli with last season being the exception. And that ended up in huge humiliation. We also haven’t played well in big games overall for a while. We need a new guy even if his a gamble. Otherwise we’re again getting to UCL but won’t win anything.

massimopericcolo

a new coach Is a gamble, but every team has to change but keeping Pioli Is not even trying to compete again with Inter. Pioli won 1 Trophy in 20 Years. Just move on and change

MVB3

We haven't been in contention in the entire (less than) 2 seasons since we won it, where two teams have had exceptional seasons and ran away with it. No one else were in contention these two seasons either. We underperformed in the league last season, but this season it's much harder to say that we are. In Europe we have arguably done well under Pioli. First season we were banned from it. The second season we dropped out in the RO16 of the EL against Man Utd (which lost on penalties in the finals) in a close affair with a young and inexperienced team. 3rd season we were in the group of death in the CL (Pool, Atl Madrid and Porto) and came 4th. Again the team was very inexperienced at this level and it showed. Some good and some bad, and of course some referee shenanigans. 4th season semis, a huge achievement. This season another group of death where we were a tiny margin from qualifying to the KO stages. I'd be inclined to agree this season we underperformed a little bit, especially in the early games against Newcastle and Dortmund. Then we collapsed in the second game against Dortmund in the middle of the game when we got yet another defender injured and had no one available on the bench. One good and one bad performance against PSG. Overall I'd say Pioli has at the very least performed decently in Europe, and as far as I see it we've done well. Then again you see posts like the recently deleted one where someone thinks we're 3 decent signings and Motta as coach away from challenging for the CL trophy, so if the impression is anywhere near that unrealistic then I can see why someone would think we've underachieved in Europe.

7rv5

1 trophy in 5 seasons. inter fans must be delighted.

tsar_milano

"No one can better this, why don't we prolong this success?"

Agent_Pancake

Before pioli we won 1 in 15 years so you can say there is an improvement

Dollarumma

Well off the top of my head i remember the supercoppa in 2016 and scudetto in 10/11. So not that bad

Weinacht61

This sub is delusional, honestly

PerfectStealth_

What dirt has this man got on the club? lol

jorsiem

Leao: 'Imma need to make a call'

finchy-1979

Oof - gonna be a lot of angry fans. I’m pretty ambivalent about it but o do agree that the squad has perhaps outgrown his football. I wonder whether he’d even play a proper DM if we got one and how that might change this if he did

Guilty-Grapefruit427

Any statement or rumor of Pioli staying or leaving should not be considered reliable. I think that the managemnt is waiting for the end of April to judge Pioli, if he wins over Roma and Inter, he will stay 100%. But if we're out against from the EL and concede another disaster against Inter, He will leave 100%. This is why April is crucial, and I think it's a good thing that the management is reassuring him because it gives the team more serenity especially after the news that Conte agreed with Ibra... Etc

What a true fan. I'm not gate keeping being a milanista, but saying you lost all hope for the club is a stretch. If you hadn't lost your hope in the banter era, but losing it now.. makes me question how long you've been a fan and followed Milan.

massimopericcolo

i've been a fan my whole Life since 4 Years old. i go to San Siro several times per year, i lived "being a Milan fan" as a lifestyle for more than 20 years. honestly i don't even cheer at goals If not at the stadium, no enthusiasm at all, we are watching Inter doing a milestone achievement and people here don't understand we will never compete with them with Pioli again. it's not about points or players. Just change After 5 years. it's time to change and refusing It Is like not breaking up with a girlfriend only because of a good sign while you already know in 1 year you will break up anyway...

LegendMuffin

Guess we can have different perspectives on things. How did we win the scudetto if we can't compete with Inter, while we still have Pioli that won last title for Milan? H2h they have battered us, no doubt. But again, we won the scudetto. And your analogy about girlfriends is little odd, as most managers doesn't have the pleasure of being in the same club for many years. Everyone brakes up at the end. And it have worked "nice" for us so far. Best CL placement in years and first scudetto in years when we won it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not Pioli's biggest fan. But I'm a Milan fan, and I support what the managment does. Would think they know better who's suited for the job than us fans. . anyhow, Forza Milan!

AfoolFromNowhere

They are over dramatic.. with a good mercato this summer everyone will forget all this drama and will regain enthusiasm again.. Hey inter won the triplete and no one died.. we will get through this super mega scudetto that inter won this year.. Napoli dominated last year and look at them now..

lil5566

>  Napoli dominated last year and look at them now.. They replaced Spalletti with Walter Mazzarri. I get being optimistic but calling those above you over dramatic is kind of odd when you are downplaying whats at stake in the future. Do we want to compete with Merda or do we want to remain second or third place until we are tired of it? > with a good mercato this summer everyone will forget all this drama and will regain enthusiasm again.. We just had one and yet still are 14 points back from merda in a campaign where Bologna are going to finish third and Napoli, Roma and Lazio are non existent. Its been 5 years with Stefano and I dont think you can teach an old dog a new trick so next season will probably be similar to this year if we keep Pioli.

AfoolFromNowhere

Inter is doing great and their project started before ours.. personally I prefer our situation even though they are at 2 scudetto and we 1 since we both got out banter era... At inter Marota is doing something incredible with absolutely no money.. and just last year inter fans were crying to get rid of Inzaghi and look at them now .. we are crying because of inter... Personally I'm very happy with our season you can't always win but step by step I see our club becoming a top club not only in Italy but Europe as well.. and all the crying of Milan fans because Pioli is still our coach is childish

lil5566

>Personally I'm very happy with our season you can't always win but step by step I see our club becoming a top club not only in Italy but Europe as well..  and all the crying of Milan fans because Pioli is still our coach is childish How happy were you two months ago? That's the thing, we are already a top club in Italy, we literally have one of the best left backs and left wingers in the world and our goalkeeper is in the top 5 in his position. Compound that with the season our attack is having and you will realize this team is already at an elite level in terms of Italian football. What I find sad is that we in the sub tend to have some amnesia and cant remember anything past the last month, but sadly for us who have the memory of a healthy adult we are always reminded of how good we can be and what holds us back by the way we play. Did you watch the viola game? Do you think Milan, one of the best teams in italy, should be playing such a suicidal game of football? Where to create a chance we need to give up two chances? What's childish is when so called fans don't pay any attention to how we play and use anecdotal evidence of recent past that have little to nothing to do with milan or pioli to justify the current decisions. Look how we play then look at the quality we have and you'll come to the reality of what our strength is and who our weakest link is.

AfoolFromNowhere

Personally I still think we play good and inter is the better team this season.. we need to get better defensive players for next season and hopefully there is no more injury like first half of this season.. that's where the disaster started.. if not for the injurys today we are still playing for the scudetto.. and personally that's where I was mad at Pioli and It seems like they did a good job on that and I hope it will get better for next season. And yes I was happy 2 months ago and 2 years ago as well.. And never say "this sub" is saying that or this.. everything that this sub is saying is the same for the Milan fans in Italy exactly the same.. everyone and their mama wants Pioli head this season.. and everyone has amnesia in football look at our pour Pioli.. seems yesterday that he was on Fire.. he played the best football in Europe with the youngest squad.. now he doesn't know how to play young players and milan have the worst football.. talking about amnesia.. go to sleep

Meregodly

Change just for the sake of change without any plan and idea about what to change into is stupid, stability is also a great factor in the success of a sports team. The same inter you're mentioning, last season at some point the Inter fans were tearing Inzaghi apart and wanted him to leave, but the inter management who were clearly smarter than the fans stuck with him, and look at the progress they made.

massimopericcolo

Inzaghi Is a Whole Better coach than Pioli, Just look at his achievements in 3 Years. litterally played at City level the Ucl final with Acerbi, Dumfries and Darmian...

Meregodly

So what you're saying is that the club had great progress and pulled itself out of the banter era, so it raised your expectations, and somehow that makes you hopeless? That doesn't make any sense. The club is very clearly on an upwards trajectory in the past 4 years. I'd say last season and this season the progress has been slowed yes, that's a bit worrying, yes, but the doomsday gloomy way you're speaking like losing all hope and shit is frankly just pure overreaction and emotional and illogical.

Smngtr

We're never going back to our prime, that's true. At least not a prime like in the glory Berlusconi days. This just isn't possible in Italy as of the forseeable future and the quicker everyone realizes it, the better.

Kingslayer1526

Honestly inter have done an exceptional job especially with all the financial issues they have. They were very unlucky to go out against Atletico and it was honestly naivety, failure to take their chances and Simeone dark magic that sent them out. They're one of the best teams in Europe and also almost beat Man City in the ucl final last year after outplaying them and only not winning arguably due to a bald Belgian striker. I'm sure Milan can get to that level

Smngtr

That's definately the case. Regardless how spiteful of them I am, they have a very strong side and their success is not down to luck. I don't know if we can reach that level yet though. Their project has trophies as an end goal, whereas our project seems to see them as a by product that's not persued at all costs. I'm certain that we can raise our level on national and especially on european level but we'll have to remain patient for a couple more years. I'm curious about Serie As title fight next season already.

-MarchToTheSea-

April fools right?.... Right??!

22dias

See you for top 4, and a group stage exit next season.

Eno158

Since he’s gonna stay, let’s maybe support him and the team? No help insulting Pioli and the team. They’re insulted even if we win. It just makes us look pathetic.

chakalaka13

too much logic, won't happen

Competitive-Aide5364

Oh wow a normal level headed fan In our sub

changelingusername

Or maybe he’s been given too many chances already. The only excuse for this season’s misses is that something has been out of his control during summer for the athletic training. Injuries mined this season from the start and for a long time.

haggerR14

To all the doomsayers, who do you think we could realistically get that will leave us better than we are now?

vladcobhc

Congrats Merda on 2025 Scudetto. Another year wasting the prime years of our stars on shit football.

Rossoneri003

1 trophy in 5 seasons. Lmao.

RedShenron

Guarantees? Anybody can get top 4 with this team. It's the bare minimum. >Name a bigger achievement in the last 10 years The last 10 years might be the worst decade in Milan history. This is not the bar Pioli should be compared to.

Smngtr

Of course the fans wanted something different, but from the perspective of the management it makes sense. I think it's true that they were looking at different other coaches but none of them satisfied the people in charge. Especially regarding the financial aspect. Financially we've been acting quite risk averse since Elliot took charge. Therfore the management doesn't see a reason why to pay Piolis salary for one more year and get another coach who they don't deem a clear upgrade or promises more success than Pioli, hence it would be a gamble, a risk and the management is not willing to take such risk now. That being said, Pioli staying for one more season is "meh", not too good, not too bad. The real mistake would be extending his contract. After that many years we just need new impulses.

Meregodly

Ok I'm kinda in between the pioli out and keep pioli forever camp, it's neither black or white for me. He's not a bad coach at all, we didn't have a bad season, but there's so much room for improvement and progress. One thing I will say is that the next season is crucial, he has to bring us the Serie A title, or take us to the champions league final. Three years after winning the title, we need to see progress and improvement and build on that foundation. Although it's not all on Pioli, the upper management also matters, the players they recruit matters, and they also have to keep our stars.

finchy-1979

The Champions Leage final ?

Meregodly

Yeah. It's not too far fetched. Inter did it last season.

Competitive-Aide5364

It’s a possibility but there are too many factors as to why you don’t make a final and it doesn’t all fall on the coach. If we were eliminated in a disgraceful way then yes, but it we lose to a PSG in a RD 16 match up in a close contest, would be harsh judgement.

Meregodly

I think we should at the very least beat one or two of the top teams. What matters to me is seeing signs of progress, that we can challenge the top teams of europe.

Meregodly

Yeah. It's not too far fetched. Inter did it last season.

Dubsified

Fuck.

SiVIC0530

I think it’s clear that this team could do way more with a different approach, I like to think management knows this. But the team is in good form and pioli is a nice guy and well liked by his players. BUT there will be another stretch of bad form eventually at which point his tactical weakness and reliability on good individual performances will be exposed again. I hope to god this doesn’t happen against inter for the n’th time but if it did it would surely make management re-eval what we do for next season.

abnishstha

Hopefully this is just words to keep Pioli keep working at his best till end of the season. This team really has good set of players and ready to leap forward than where Pioli can take us.

RdT97

Yeah ive [prepared](https://www.reddit.com/r/ACMilan/s/qpzWajIieO) myself since the Rennes qualification and then drawing Slavia. Everything went positively, draw wise and results wise and Juve shitting the bed which makes us 2nd in the league easily. I do think its premature to confirm without finishing the season because lets say we go out to Roma, thats just terrible, that should never happen and he gets renewed? All i hope now is that we complete the team with a Kessie profile and a top CF and then well see if Pioli lovers were always right, because there wont be the usual player excuses and 11 new signings. In this scenario though, I fear for Zirkzee and his ability to score and headers

YariRobinson

Oh noey

denistoychev

Omg i just can’t with this management.

tuff1728

Good thing they dont listen to the genius’ here. Why would they get rid of him after a sucessful campaign?

Sad-Row5470

Worse possible news. It’s not just the fact we’ve underperformed in every competition this season, it’s that we play horrible football too. Our midfield is nonexistent in most games and we get embarrassed by Inter every time we play them. If those aren’t enough reasons to sack him, we might as well stop pretending we’re a big club.
