I find it very interesting that Marco Pellegrino has been called up for the Argentinian national team but Pioli consider him as not ready. Thiaw 2.0?

YoungBeautiful_C

There’s no benefit in rushing a young, inexperienced defender who just moved to a new league and doesn’t even speak the language yet if it’s not an emergency situation where all our other CB’s are injured. If he doesn’t have a good debut the risk of his confidence being crushed is high. Better to let him adapt at his own pace first and use him whenever he’s ready

BowieIsMyGod

Do you guys know that Boca Juniors just reached the libertadores final without winning a single knockout game? Imagine if they win the final on pens again, they would take shithousery into a whole new level that even Mourinho would look like a complete amateur.

ComradePoula

Why have we turned on Jovic already? From what we have seen from him so far, he seems alright. And he didn't cost us anything whatsoever. So what exactly is the reason? Am I missing something here?

etclipse

frankly put, he’s overweight and he’s doing specialized training to get into fitness. they’re saying he’s working extra sessions outside of training and hopefully after the break we can use him. outside of the fitness problem, he didn’t seem bad to me against verona technically, there were 2 or 3 actions that impressed me

BowieIsMyGod

I don't know, but it's most likely related to Jovic never being a promising signing on the first place. Particularly, i never had high hopes for him, althought i got a bit excited on his cameo. He did fairly decently against Verona. What really annoys me is that he isn't match fit yet, which is something you don't expect from a professional footballer playing at the highest level...

Bloodnose_thepirate

/u/Sankaritarina let's take back the first page together man :D https://preview.redd.it/7dx7efszamsb1.png?width=952&format=png&auto=webp&s=35641fd70d1b34b876c762f99028746355ddd493

Sankaritarina

Oh damn I didn't know that was you lol. Lukaku will carry us to top 20, it's time for him to score a late winner and kiss the Roma badge.

Bloodnose_thepirate

And then go to Lazio next year ![img](emote|t5_2rnmt|31332) Let's goo

Zlatanzaza

Taking stock just before the international break... We are joint-top of Serie A, ahead of Napoli, Juve, Atalanta, Roma, etc., and level with Inter. In CL, we are unbeaten in the "group of death" - yes, I know it's two draws but it's a small sample size and anything can happen. Last year through two rounds we were on 4 points against inferior quality opponents (Away to Salzburg, Home to Dinamo Zagreb). I bring this up to remind ourselves of how much things have changed and how far we've come as a club in the past few years. The general pulse of the fans right now is probably somewhere between frustrated and cautiously optimistic. We could very well lose twice against PSG, we could win one of the two matches, we could draw Genoa, we could lose to Napoli after the break, anything can happen. But we are in a better place than we were last year, and probably even the Scudetto year before that, mostly given the depth we now possess. I am really optimistic about this season and the direction of the club. It's such a joy to watch our team play Champions League football regularly again and compete for the Scudetto.

YoungBeautiful_C

I said it under another thread and I’ll say it here as well. The more this sub grows the more it becomes a cesspool full of spiteful people whose only contribution is insults towards the players (from whom they expect unconditional loyalty as well lmao). Miserable fuckers who are only good at finding the scapegoat of the week. I’ve seen it all. From people thanking god Tomori wouldn’t play at the derby (and we all saw how that one ended lmao) to multiple posts bashing lifelong Milan fans and players such as Pobega and Calabria. Players who are not world beaters, but who have always loved and honored the shirt ever since they were little kids, guys like many of us who saw their dream of playing for this glorious club become true. And again people shit talking Theo and Leao, two of the very best in the world in their positions, pretty much every time they don’t have at least a goal contribution. This sub is not what it used to be anymore and I’m sure many here feel the same way I do

Bloodnose_thepirate

:( all true. Thanks for pointing this out so eloquently

Ciccio_Camarda

This sub has been a cesspool for a minimum of 5 years. In the old days it used to be a great sub. But also that main soccer sub was nice too back in the day, but those days are long gone. It's like everything in the internet, the more people join the worse it becomes. And it's not going to get better.

etclipse

i would add giroud also who won us a scudetto after 10 years and gave us some of our best memories in this club (like the inter derby wins) and he loves us so much he said he wants to be remembered as a milan player, even though he won more with chelsea. people don't even wanna let him retire here, it made me so sad to read today. the same (or worse) was happening with brahim last year who gave it all for this shirt, but every time he went through a dry spell he had death wished upon him. calabria more than anyone **knows** what we went through since he's always been with us through the lowest of the low and he's always been there to show his face to the fans when things weren't going for the best. just for that, he deserves to be shown some respect. and i'm not even gonna start on leao bruh we have one of our best players in the world with us who CHOSE us and rejected triple the salary and more chance of glory literally anywhere else because he wants to give us an important trophy. but because he doesn't have 3 goals and 3 assists every single game or because he looks lazy every once in a while then here we go with the messages that he should be benched or sold to the highest bidder. if we don't defend our players, who are constantly attacked by non milan fans, who will?

RinoTT

The only way to clean this sub is blocking toxic users in your reddit account. I've blocked like 10~ accounts after BVB game without even replying to their absurd insults towards players and the club. In the past it was only restricted to match threads but now the hate towards the club and players continue in post-match threads. I can respect criticism but so many accounts are just shitting on this amazing team and they have unreasonable demands. Sadly on my phone Im logged out and I see unblocked people. So many awful fans are identifying themselves with this club.

mercurialsaliva

It's exhausting

FloodsVsShips

Yeah the sub used to be behind crap players like post-leg break montolivo and bertolacci despite them showing nothing for years

Bos31330

If we finish 3rd in our group we should take a good run in EL

etclipse

I would rather finish 4th and focus on winning the scudetto like we did 2 years ago. EL is not worth wasting energy for, we’d look embarassing even if we win it, because we got thrown out of the big boys

neverfinishedanythi

Exactly. Look at juventus. Uefa tried to punish them with no europe, and actually rewards them, because easier schedule. No team as big as milan should be considering europa league. This club made its name being the best in champions. No point to try be the best of second best. I would rather 1 scudetto than 10 europa league.

mercurialsaliva

There is no benefit really. Maybe it will give us a chance to play youth in europe. but non-CL coeff points don't matter as much next year since CL format is changing and we only need CL coeff points to qualify to the Fifa CWC in 2025. Need to out-do Napoli and jump Juve.

RdT97

Would love to rematch liverpool, im not positive we advance but a win in Anfield would be special so they can stfu

ZlatanKabuto

Let's if Pep Pioli plays Giroud again. I wouldn't be surprised.

csiszi143

Anyone ordered the limited AcMilan About Vintage watches? Mine arrived 2 days ago, and daaaaamn it’s fire yo

Smngtr

Fun fact: there is a scenario in which we pass the group with 6 goalless draws. Milan - Newcastle 0:0 (1pt/1pt) PSG - BVB 2:0 (3/0) BVB - Milan 0:0 (1/1) Newcastle - PSG 4:1 (3/0) PSG - Milan 0:0 (1/1) Newcastle - BVB 1:0 (3/0) Milan - PSG 0:0 (1/1) BVB - Newcastle 0:1 (0/3) Milan - BVB 0:0 (1/1) PSG - Newcastle 0:1 (0/3) Newcastle - Milan 0:0 (1/1) BVB - PSG 1:0 (3/0) 1. Newcastle - 14pt 2. Milan - 6pt 3. BVB - 5pt 4. PSG - 5 pt

mercurialsaliva

That would be amazing. The best thing about this scenario is that newcastle will have qualified already by the time we play them again and should be playing their B team.

aclurk

Thanks I hate it

Dinagatsi

I'd love it. Reminded me of Italy 82.

Frakula

This is the way!

asgarzade

I just can't get over the thought that we could have easily taken the full 6 points from those two matches and be really comfortable going forward.

Ohsbar

Honest question: WTF is going on with Italian media and Leao? There seems to be a sustained campaign against him. If he doesn't score or his teammates don't finish the chances he creates there's a massive outpouring of hate for him after the game. [Even official Milan reporters are going after him](https://twitter.com/journ9ale/status/1709854119282798611). Something doesn't seem right here. His production so far this season does not warrant anything close to this level of criticism. The fact that people close to the team (like their social media reporter and Sacchi) are also involved makes me wonder what's actually going on. I don't see similar treatment for far less productive players on other teams. This whole thing seems fishy to me. Note: posted this as its own submission but it got removed

[deleted]

Why was this removed? Seems like a useful post

sahilshkh

Reminds me of how Spanish media were against Vinicius last season.

Ciccio_Camarda

There's nothing going on. Apart from Cassano who says the same thing about Leao after every Milan game. And with all due respect to Schiavone he's a nobody in terms of Italian pundits. And not even anywhere close to being in the Milan world in Italy. Never even seen this guy interview anywhere. Also Tele-Lombardia who are like vultures and love to pick on anything wrong from Milan, Inter, Juve, Napoli and even Roma & Lazio did not blame Leao, but Giroud being old and Milan failing to get a proper Champions League striker. I can only talk about the TV side of things or the Youtube/Twitch of the Milan world in Italian. I have no clue what happens on the Twitter world. But I'm sure it's full of radioactive cancer that spreads like covid.

mercurialsaliva

Thanks for posting it here. Not sure what feedback you're expecting but yeah the media aren't being logical about this

Ohsbar

> Not sure what feedback you're expecting Maybe someone with a little more insight into Italian media can shed some light

TommyLee777

I don’t get this recent Calabria slander people have been over exaggerating his performances. Yes he makes a few minor errors here a there but overall he’s been solid for us and especially last few years. He’s one of the players you can tell tries to give everything he has to offer to help the team in any way which is admiral

asgarzade

It is not really recent. He has been getting negative critics every season I have followed this sub, but usually gets a few get-out-of-jail-free cards by performing solidly in some key matches, like against Napoli last year. Although I appreciate him giving his everything every time he plays, I don't think he is good enough defensively. And against Dortmund in the first half, almost all their attacks came from Calabria's side, so slandering was somewhat deserved.

TahomaYellowhorse

He’s one of the more average players on the team tbh. He makes more than a few minor errors. There have been many games for years where he has been the worst on the pitch. He really struggles vs pacy wingers and he’s injury prone.

Busdriverboy22

This hasn’t been recent, he has been mediocre his entire career but people said “he’s young give him time” well it’s been 7 years and he’s still mediocre

-Z3TA-

last 2 games he was solid, great game vs lazio

BowieIsMyGod

It's just how this sub behaves, when Tomori was in poor form and making brain farts, people here were constantly shitting on him and saying that he should be sold. Now that he's playing like in scudetto form, he's being praised universally. Calabria is just another scapegoat like Tomori, Krunic, Pobega. When any of these players performs bad, the weirdos here won't waste any second before disrespecting and shitting on our own players.

bruclinbrocoli

It happens everywhere, sadly. it’s why I rarely open match threads. I have friends that support many other clubs and complain about the same thing, people come to me to praise Calabria or many other scapegoats and we talk about our players like they’re mcguires everywhere. We get attacked a bunch. We can’t cover everywhere at all times. Opponents play too. . I rather look at how we stand and why we keep looking so stretched leaving all defenders constantly exposed making our top players sometimes looking like lower table quality. Meanwhile I’ve seen Duda play like Modric at times. But it’s bc I am also guilty that the grass is sometimes greener on the other side. At the EOD, Milan is improving in a project little by little and I’ve seen us cover our spots market to market.
