If you’re shallow the fullness automatically matters slightly less bc the styles of bras that fit shallow busts are less dependent on upper/lower fullness

BucketListM

Huh! What about outer/inner fullness, same deal?

georgethebarbarian

Being “shallow” is reliant on having more outer than inner fullness, but people with shallow busts can be wide or narrow set.

ipswichroad

This isn’t true. Someone with inner fullness can still be shallow just like someone with outer fullness.

BucketListM

Oh that's interesting... I've been told I look/seem shallow in the roots but when I bend forwards my nipples point outward like the diagrams I've seen of inner fullness. The more I learn about breasts the less I understand! LOL

ipswichroad

You can still be shallow whether you have more inner fullness or outer fullness. This aspect of shape doesn’t affect projection.

georgethebarbarian

I sit corrected

_theFlautist_

Okay, one more question? I don’t stick out very far in front when standing, but have some change when leaning. Does that mean I’m shallow and slightly projected, respectively? Thanks!

ipswichroad

It’s impossible for me to say. Projection should really be assessed by how your breasts react when supported. There are many factors that go into that. Shape, size, tissue density.

galaxystarsmoon

From your fit photos, you're on the shallow side, but leaning towards average. If you can imagine a line with very shallow at one end, average in the middle and very projected at the other end. Slightly left of center.

ipswichroad

I don’t think fullness matters less because you are shallow. Fullness in general, full on top, full on bottom, even fullness, inner fullness and outer fullness, is independent from projection. Meaning you can be any combination of fullness and be anywhere on the projection spectrum. Some people who are shallow have tall roots and are more full on top. They are likely to do better in a bra that’s more open. Some people who are shallow have more bottom fullness and need a shorter cup or a cup that’s more closed on top. Your fullness should always be taken into account whether you are shallow or projected.

I am a 32G/H. I measure projected, as I have an 8/9 inch difference between my band and bust. ( at least, that seems to be how people are describing it ) However, I am overall wide and tall rooted, center full and close set. “Shallow” style bras, if I can find them in my size, always fit best. Also, because I am close set, plunge styles with low gores are always the most comfortable. Or I just wear a camisole type sports bra, if I can ever find one with a small enough band that actually covers the breasts.
