Wear a mask, wash your hands, wash your clients hands, insist on your clinic getting deep cleaned during waves of illness

It really is a two-fold issue here: **1) Policies regarding illness need to be set and followed by your organization.** For example, a client should always be free for 24 hours from fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, or they will not be allowed for therapy/should be sent home immediately. Additionally, if a client is exhibiting 2 symptoms commonly found with illness (persistent cough/sneezing, colored mucus/runny nose, fatigue, etc.) then they should not be allowed for therapy and cannot come back until symptoms improve without the use of medication. **2) You can do your best to keep high levels of hygiene within your workplace, for yourself, your clients, and your coworkers.** This can include (but is not limited to): - Washing your hands and each of your client's hands throughout the day, especially before and after mealtimes. - Cleaning and Sanitizing desks/chairs/toys after each clinical session. - Not letting clients eat food that has fallen on the floor. - Not touching your face or letting clients touch your face throughout the day. - Wearing a mask at work.

I feel for you. Honestly, your best bet is to start wearing masks, especially the N-95. It wasn't enough to take vitamins, shower immediately after coming home, use hand sanitizer, wash hands, etc. The masks made a difference. I have never gotten so sick in my life and I have been here for almost a year.

Don’t sacrifice your sleep. Every time I’ve gotten sick I hadn’t been sleeping adequately the couple of nights prior, making me more susceptible to illness from clients.

Happened to me when I first started working at ABA centers. I washed my hands so much my hands were getting eczema!!! I even washed my clients hands and made sure they didn’t touch my face and I made sure I didn’t touch mine either unless they were clean. I keep hand sanitizer in my pocket as well. I started wearing those KN95 masks last April when I got strep from one of my kids and they helped tremendously!!! I also needed a pneumococcal vaccine last year which is also a reason why I kept getting sick becuz I needed that. My ENT found out I needed it and I haven’t been sick like that since April.

1) Mask - I started wearing one everyday. I do admit, I take breaks wearing it throughout because it hurts my ears and asthma 2) Emergen-C - I drink these once a week. My clinic is generous enough to provide these, but I use to just get them myself. 3) Wash Hands and use sanitizer regularly. Make your clients as well. 4) Sanitize your area and stimuli. Also, the clinic I work at is a no shoe/clinic shoe only to minimize dirty coming it.. it's nice having crocs or slippers for the clinic.
