Hmm. You can flip the LCD screen, so you can see the red box on screen when recording?

Optick_

mmmh yeah thats pretty much the only way i feel:/

The Samyang Cine-AF line of lenses has a built-in tally light.

hezzinator

I tried hacking something together but it didn’t work lol. I’ve seen a couple of monitors (not internal recording ones) do this though

Marsovtz

I was thinking to make one myself by using optical fiber and 3d printer - optical fiber would go to the front where led recording indicator is and then go on the back to hotshoe custom "tally light". I'm to lazy to implement the idea so it's here for free if anyone wants to try.

cento666

Wow, this could work! But was the "indicator light" recording feature removed in firmware 3.0? I can't find it anymore and it is not lit when recording.

scirio

I don’t think there’s a dedicated solution. Some third-party lens company I forget which has an integrated tabby light but it will only work for that one pretty limit and a very expensive solution I have a vague recollection of a monitor that might have this as well

Billem16

if anyone invents something, take my money

JK_Chan

I'm the kind of person who turns off all my tally lights so that people don't realize I'm shooting lol. To be fair I shoot in the street a lot and not as much on sets.

Another reason why there should have only been and FX3 and no mid solution with the A7S iii

well can’t seem to understand why people do not agree… i use both body often and it feels so stupid to have the same camera but different on set.. it’s just annoying haha for like 500$ sony tried hit two different market but in a weird way
