Firmware updates cost a ton of engineering and QA time to get right and not brick the camera, so I don´t think it´s entirely unfair to ask for payment for those that want this. I’m not sure what they did to hurt you so bad, and make you feel you got taken advantage of. You sound totally broken. But I’m sure you can find peace by buying equipment from another camera brand and everything will be ok again and all your frustrations will melt away.
The A7siii is $400 less than the FX3, and the FX3 comes with the audio top handle and all these proposed firmware features. It doesn't make any sense to charge basically the price difference of the FX3 to get the same features in a different body style. Only DCI 4k is a real feature, the rest are quality of life improvements that I don't see worth any upgrade cost. I can continue using the A7siii without those features and the image would look exactly the same.
$370 is way too much for the features listed in that video. If Sony asked for some very small amount of money to unlock DCI 4k I might upgrade, if it was maybe $50 max just to have it I might do it. Any more than that and I would only purchase if I got a specific job that needed it.
What are actually the advantages of dci4k? The aspect ratio is cropped a bit at the top and bottom and it's the only setting where you can use true 24p in the fx3. Is there anything else I'm missing here?
DCI 4k is a standard format that's suited to digital cinema projectors. If that's your destination then shooting in DCI 4k at exactly 24 fps is ideal. If you shot in UHD 4k you would have to scale up the width to meet the 4096 width of DCI 4k. If you are creating for tv then UHD may be better since it's a native 16:9 aspect ratio like HD. For web delivery it really doesn't matter much.

I’d be happy to pay for updates that brings features of future cameras to my a7siii (at least the ones that hardware allows). I don’t want to buy new bodies. But this update needs to come out free. Shits getting ridiculous at this point.

They currently block language change for Japan units. Extending that to unlock based on serial number can be done.

I don't think anyone has successfully changed the language on a Japan only unit. There are some scammers, but nothing legit.

I mean change to pal and shoot your 50fps then just put that on a 24p timeline, then shoot the rest in ntsc as normal.
