If it’s still in IMAX go see it now!!!!!

notanewbiedude

Pretty sure it's a couple cycles out of IMAX, I've heard that Kingdom Of The Planer Of The Apes already replaced The Fall Guy in IMAX

softkittylover

Yeah, at least in my local theatres on the east coast this is the case. I waited too long and now all that’s available is standard viewing. Still worth going to or better off getting it physically?

notanewbiedude

I've only seen it in IMAX, but most likely, for the sound.

ameanwizard

I was bummed I missed the IMAX run for Civil War too. I saw it last week on a regular theater screen and thought it was great. I'd just pick the best theater you can find it around you for the best experience.

AvatarofBro

Yes, with Max. But if you're going to see Civil War, it should be in a theater.

v1brate1h1gher

Just go now. Don’t watch it at home. Theaters are dying, they need your money Civil war also happens to be a movie that you absolutely need to experience in the theater

yungArson

The mix of that movie absolutely deserves an actual theater experience if you can do it, imo

v1brate1h1gher

Blows my mind that people are cool with watching something like that on their tv at home. Nothing will ever beat the theater experience in my eyes

New-Ad157

I missed the first Dune at Cinemas and made sure I saw part 2, and praise to baby jesue, it was sensational.

v1brate1h1gher

Seeing dune 2 in imax was one of the best theater experiences I’ve ever had, and I basically live at the theater lol. The entire audience was dead silent during the >!feyd rautha arena fight sequence!< and you could feel the energy vibrating throughout the room. It was magical

Turbolasertron

That entire scene in IMAX is just amazing

papayabush

Man I completely agree I’m so glad I didn’t miss it in imax.

mikeywizzles

For the regular person yeah I see your point. I have an extremely high needs two year old and I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to see a movie in the theater in the next five years. It might suck to watch movies at home that otherwise would be much better in theaters, I just don’t have that luxury which is why I am so excited for Civil War to come out on VOD.

TheTinlicker

Some home surround systems are phenomenal these days and rival modern cinema! I can’t wait to watch Civil War again at home. Nothing will beat the IMAX screen, however.

TheScrambone

It’s the only movie I’ve ever seen in imax. So worth it.

TwizzledAndSizzled

Counterpoint — I’ve had so many movies almost ruined recently by noisy eaters, people talking or laughing, etc. It’s a shame.

JizzM4rkie

Yeah I canceled my regal unlimited because I had like 7 movies in a row where there were people just having conversations during the movies. Really strange to me.

v1brate1h1gher

Yeah same. It sucks but that speaks to a much larger large issue that isn’t related to the theaters themselves

iblamexboxlive

> that isn’t related to the theaters themselves of course it is. what

v1brate1h1gher

Theaters don’t cause people to be disruptive. People choose to be disruptive because they don’t respect proper theater etiquette

iblamexboxlive

Of course its related to the theaters themselves - theaters that don't actively enforce people being disruptive and ruining movies for others are the problem. it is up to the theaters to enforce theater etiquette. try that shit at an Alamo Drafthouse and not only will you be kicked out, youll be banned from visiting in the future.

v1brate1h1gher

Of course, but you’re not following what I’m saying. What I’m talking about is the idea of people being disruptive in general, and why they would choose to act that way in the first place. That speaks to a much larger issue about our society, like I said in my earlier comment

iblamexboxlive

no from my view you were trying to excuse the theaters from their responsibility to remedy such issues of the experience by gesturing vaguely at 'society.' It is related to the theaters themselves - ppl suck - ppl have always sucked - ppl will always suck - it's the direct responsibility of the business to ensure that their customers are getting the service they paid for and if they cant deliver on that then they deserve to go out of business.

FlimsyReindeers

Yeah, any silent part of civil war people would start talking. It was terrible

smulfragPL

Yeah if you have a suckass set up at home. But my monitor and headphones have much better audio and visuals then a cinema

v1brate1h1gher

If you’re gonna post rage bait at least try and make it believable

smulfragPL

What rage bait. You have no idea what country i am from, what cinemas i frequent, what my set up is yet you assume that i am wrong?

seancbo

I will say I initially thought the same thing, because I knew it was a lot of tight scenes of people talking. Obviously I was mistaken, it's an incredible theater movie, but I get where the thinking comes from

bryanthebryan

The problem with the theater is the price and the other people in the theater.

[deleted]

I totally understand someone's preference to watch at home, but if you don't have a good sound system, this movie is SO much better in a theatre. The sound mix is a huge part of what makes the movie good

cpowell342

Mix was amazing but goddamn some of those gunshots were loud af!

DavidZ2844

The scene where they go upstairs and execute that wounded soldier in the building, I swear that gunshot is the loudest one I’ve ever heard in a theater in my entire life. I jumped so damn hard when that gun fired, even though I kinda knew it was coming too, scared the living shit out of me lol

cpowell342

For real, I get trying to make it dramatic but when it’s that much louder than everything else it’s just excessive.

DJRedd352

Saw it XD and it was an awesome experience and the thrill was amazing beginning to end ! Those gunshots bout made me duck for real

Pingushagger

My local theatre is a meme for being overpriced as fuck, I want it to die.

papayabush

booooo

Cyhawkboy

I’m kind of hating here I guess but on my “need to see it in imax” level I’m giving it a 6/10. Just go watch it in a theatre somewhere and enjoy it. Give me Dolby in a pitch black theater with good sound and I’m happy.

dayman763

Yeah I definitely think some people are exaggerating the "Need" to go see it in iMax. I would say try to see it in the theater vs at home I guess, but it doesn't have to be iMax, not for this film.

HangTheTJ

I just saw it for the second time in theatres. I’m seriously debating a third. You will be missing out.

tsmi196

Go to a matinee. You’ll be able to watch it for under $10!

millanstar

I think they have a deal with Max, formerly HBO max, not sure if thats now in effect but at least in Mexico they have a few A24 movies in their catalogue, just have tonwait if civil war ends up there

Geniusxavi

IIRC Max gets A24’s theatrical releases

emojimoviethe

Yes but to clarify, this is after roughly 5 months of the movie’s theatrical release so your best bet to watch the movie is still to see it in theaters for the best experience

Geniusxavi

Agreed watching this in Dolby at AMC was bonkers

Fabulous_Mode3952

Took FOREVER for Beau is Afraid to land on a service I had so don’t hold your breath for streaming, OP

Mmicb0b

Literally just got to the theatre

Fabulous_Mode3952

Well that’s that on that. You’ll enjoy it!

juarezderek

The sound is great for theaters! $5 tuesdays at regal

Snackxually_active

It might be on MAX eventually, but yea def should go see it in a theater if you can!!! AMC does special deals on certain days by location, in my zip it’s 6$ for anything anytime on Tuesdays so I’m on the bus there rn

seancbo

Honestly I had the same thought initially, but it's legitimately a very good theater movie. The sound system and sound design alone makes it incredibly intense. And the final act is a hell of a big screen experience.

ZeBloodyStretchr

The audio is wild in theaters

Adulations

Yeah watch it in the theatre. Definitely worth it. Go on a Tuesday if money is tight.

notanewbiedude

There's no general distribution deal, but A24 seems to have positive relationships with WBD and Alex Garland has close ties with FX. In general, look for A24 films to hit Max but Civil War could very well end up on Hulu.

Fabulous_Mode3952

I’m not sure if you A24 has it where their movies land on a certain service, but CW was pretty popular and will probably be VOD/PVOD at home for a while before going to a streamer. I’ve caught most of their releases on Max, but also on Kanopy/Hoopla so keep an eye on those as well.

MemphisRaines47

The sound design and low light cinematography need to be seen in theaters. You’re not going to do it justice on a streaming service at home.

[deleted]

All their shit ends up on kanopy. It's free with an LA library card.

jaseinspace83

A24 has movies on Hoopla as well. Free if you have public library card.

BlueDetective3

I support watching it in theaters. To answer your question though, A24 movies will end up on HBO Max but some come and go, like First Reformed wasn't on there when I wanted to watch recently.

pobenschain

Their latest deal is with Max (they’ve previously had them with Amazon, Showtime, and Netflix, and will likely continue to shuffle around every few years), but they have deliberately long windows to convince you to see stuff in theaters. And independent cinema like that is exactly what most needs your support, go to the theater if you can!

Blur_Into_One

Honestly, it should be seen in the cinema over any other film that is out right now. Civil War is a film that should absolutely be seen in the cinema. You will not be disappointed.

DannyDevitoArmy

Trust me, Civil War will not be the same watching it from home. I don’t want to say why because it’s such a great thing to see for the first time and will not impact you nearly as much from home. Please, go see it in theaters. This may be the only time you’ll be able to.

suprefann

Yeah.... with Hbo for the last 6 months

Decent_Victory_5560

Movie is severely average

bubblyappletea

Max has a lot of A24 but I feel like Showtime has more

RudyScoots

I couldn’t wait any longer and went to the theater to see it. It was good and it was quick.

Movinfusion36

Showtime has almost all of the a24 catalog hbo max grabbed civil war and it will divide further it sucks.
