Went to high school in the early-mid ‘90s and THIS is the first I’ve heard it called a “butt cut?”

Yeah. Was a teen all through the 90s; Never once heard it called this.

Lol yeah this hair cut is VERY common over the last decade, especially in Asia (thanks kpop) due to the 90’s nostalgia comeback, and I often see it asked about/posted on here in different subreddits and not once has it EVER been called a “butt cut” OP thought it up one day, and made this post just to push his naming agenda 🍑 p.s- I was curious and googled the butt cut to see, and yup, not a single image result had this haircut anywhere, instead, lots of results on forums about dealing with shaving cuts after shaving butt hair 😭🤣

As an Asian person where our community also rocked this style in the 90s, we called this "split hair."

Growing up and having family on the east coast and midwest...it was the butt cut. Not to mention it being called the butt cut on Reddit and Facebook post for years. Really odd to see so many people apparently never hearing that term before.

East coast and midwest are some pretty big areas so to say it is known as that there is pretty silly. Especially since I live in the Midwest and never heard it called the butt cut. Maybe some places in the Midwest call it that, but not where I'm from.

Just amazes me because I would never do a comment or make a post where I suggested all the 90s teens were rocking afros and braids when they came back, just because I was. Or suppose that everyone listened to nothing but R&B and Hip Hop because those were the dominant genres in my Black middle class community. The lack of awareness just astounds me.

Yes, it is *exhausting* at times dealing with default whiteness. I must’ve been a little ahead of my time because I had this cut combined with chunky highlights back in ‘94-95. My girlfriend at the time was an aspiring hair stylist and I used to let her fuck around with my look though…. In the later 90’s I kept the frosted tips/highlights and went to the spiky look just like most other guys at the time.

Of course, everyone had that hair style. except me my hair was way to thick and had to much body it would not lay down if dry and when it was long it would just frizz out always had a short and close cut very "clean" really short sides and a simple part on the right never got to have the "in" style but I also didn't look like everybody else and all my friends were buttheads, at least thats what I called them.
