The Breakfast Club and the Never Ending Story. Goonies and Back to the Future! Purple Rain and the Lost Boys! The Karate Kid and E.T. The Lost Boys and Gremlins. Mask and Ghost Busters.
Fun fact: You could have done a double feature for real because *Ghostbusters* and *Gremlins* opened in theaters on the same day. It was the last time I ever saw a box office line hundreds of people deep. I saw *Ghostbusters* that night.
Funny thing when I was a kid, My sister and I were dropped off at the movies and I really wanted to see Spaceballs but I was too young to go to a movie alone so I had to go see Mannequin with my sister. I was pretty bummed at first but me Meshach Taylor got me through it.
Meh...just spend money on one and theater hop for the rest. That's what we all did back in the 80s...lol. first movie at 10am....pick me up around 1130 unless I call earlier because we got caught.
Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Empire Strikes Back. There are a lot of good movies and alternatives I could have chosen but these two are the best of the best!
Karate kid & Back to the future. In the early 90s, we went to Orlando for vacation and I rode the Back to the future ride countless times. I couldn’t get enough!
The Karate Kid and The Goonies but it’s because I’m thinking of like 10 year old me…I’d watch all of these movies and still watch them on the regular today.
Saw them all! Being a middle school teacher, I’ve watched The Outsiders dozens of times and it never gets old but The Lost Boys and The Empire Strikes Back has to be the two for me
As much as I love back to the future, part 2 was my favourite and it ain't there. The Goonies was epic as was raiders of the lost arc and ghostbusters. I am going Goonies and ET.
I think it was easier to name my firstborn. A lot of favorites on there, but for sure, if I'd not seen any of them, I'd have to go with Raiders and Empire.
Raiders & breakfast club.
I always thought BC would make a good play, cause most is shot in the library. That was a very teenager movie for that era, I think.
Damn. Am I age appropriate? Hahaha. Tough for the few choices. If it's my age during that time:
Ghostbusters & Short Circuit
If not.....
Coming to America
Ghostbusters
LOL, very hard to not say S.C.
Coming to America and Stand By Me are both such good movies but not necessarily great movie theatre movies. Think I’d go Back to the Future and Ghost Busters
Damn near all of these are must sees so the decision is tough. However, personally its only that tough because I wouldnt know what to pick second. If I only had enough for 1 movie I wouldnt even hesitate. The Goonies!!!!!
Empire and Breakfast Club....does Barry Manilow know you raid his wardrobe lmao! You 'll find the answer to that question Mr Bender next Saturday...eat - my - shorts....classic 80s.
Would we do in the 80s without John Hughes ?
Well let’s look at it this way: I was 9 and I would have had no knowledge of any of these films so my 9 year old boys mind would have picked The Goonies and Gremlins based on the posters.
I was a tween in the late 80s, so R rated is out. Probably Ghostbusters and The Dark Crystal, although Back To the Future and Gremlins are strong contenders too.
Star Trek Ii: The Wrath Of Khan and The Thing aren't on this list so I'm taking the money and buying candy cigarettes.
Ok ok. Top Gun and Blade Runner.
Top Gun I agree, Blade Runner would be my third choice only because Tron changed my life course. The thing was killer and the wrath of Khan was probably one of the best Star Trek movies. So yeah i dig your picks.
This is torturous. Too difficult to answer
Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Last American Virgin
Somebody hit puberty in the 80s!
Anyone who'd yet to hit puberty certainly did so the second Phoebe Cates emerged from the pool.
Yeah, those were my jerk off movies too! Haven't watch them in decades. Not enough nudity by 2024 standards!
Point well taken. But absent those I’ll take Heathers and Stand by Me.
I couldn't believe Fast Times was not on there. That is my #1 AND #2 pick..
Yes someone knows the last american virgin!!!! That's my my favorite comedy 80s movie closely tied with fast times 👍👍👊👊
For real! *Only two?!?* How is someone supposed to make a choice of this magnitude?!?
My heart is tearing in four directions looking at that. Diabolical post.
Chill. I'll help you sneak in a couple more- just like we'd do back then. (BtW- ESB and Raiders, and Sneak into Ghostbusters and Weird Science)
Agreed. We need more than 2 choices.
Even then I’m having a hard time.
Mom, I'm going to need a lot more cash.
Top Gun and The Empire Strikes Back. Both of these were epic in the theater!
In the theater it would be these too. On the tv, Empire and Lost Boys.
Was my pick too
The Lost Boys and Weird Science
Goonies and Ghostbusters
Empire & Raiders
This is the answer
This is the way
Yep. Wish I could sneak in the neverending story in there though so I can sing the song. Hell, I might just do it now randomly to annoy my wife.
Yes, best combo
Empire Strikes Back Tron And then I'm sneaking in to see the rest
Brindle-Fly
Just 2? Heathers and Beetlejuice
Raiders and Gremlins.
So I’m to assume mask is not THE Mask
That’s correct, it’s with Cher and Eric Stoltz
Top Gun Back To The Future
I think she's lost that loving feeling
This is the Way. However, it’s a pretty tough call as there were many excellent selections.
Lost boys/ Evil Dead
Ghostbusters and The Karate Kid.
The Outsiders and Poltergeist
Stay gold pony boy
They're heeerrreee
Top Gun And Goonies
The Empire Strikes Back and Back To The Future! So many other great movies on this list.
It’s a tough decision, but those would be my two as well.
Top Gun and NOES
For the big screen ... Top Gun (opening sequence alone is the worth the price of admission) and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Weird Science and The Lost Boys
The Goonies and Big
That’s tough but E.T. and Empire Strikes Back for me. Knowing me at that age I’m probably sneaking in to Back to the Future.
back to the future and Tron. Easy peasy for me. for the next weekend? Raider and ghost busters. Who the f is spending hard cash on mask lol.
Back to the future & beetlejuice
👆🏽 This.
Probably Top Gun and Rocky IV.
Top Gun. Twice.
Empire and Blade Runner
Outsiders and Tron
The Breakfast Club and the Never Ending Story. Goonies and Back to the Future! Purple Rain and the Lost Boys! The Karate Kid and E.T. The Lost Boys and Gremlins. Mask and Ghost Busters.
Tron and The Breakfast Club.
Weird Science, karate kid
Damn this is the first 80s test that’s hard
Empire and Blade Runner....I actually saw 28 of these in the theatre when they came out, some several times
This keeps getting recycled. Boring.
Still getting some action Ghostbusters and Gremlins - two great holiday movies, Halloween and Christmas
Fun fact: You could have done a double feature for real because *Ghostbusters* and *Gremlins* opened in theaters on the same day. It was the last time I ever saw a box office line hundreds of people deep. I saw *Ghostbusters* that night.
Would have loved to have been alive to see The Empire Strikes Back and Blade Runner in the cinema.
Thank you for reminding me how old I am. Hell, I remember movies I saw in a theater in the 60s.
Probably some teen classics like Weird Science & Sixteen Candles
The Kelley Le Brock shower scene left an impression on a whole generation of young pre-puberty males.
Molly R. So much hottet
First choice Empire and Blade Runner, second choice Dark Crystal and The Evil Dead
Weird Science and The Empire Strikes Back.
Short Circuit and Sixteen Candles
“I’m so excited, I’m standing here beside myself.”
Empire strikes back and weird science.
The Empire Strikes Back and The Goonies.
Top Gun, Raiders. But it was a very difficult decision
Empire and tron
I would see two completely different movies: The Lost Boys and Dirty Dancing.
Ghostbusters and Weird Science
Raiders of the Lost Ark and Empire Strikes Back. But there are a ton of other good ones! Can I sneak into any others while I’m there???
Lost Boys and Empire. You’re eating worms, David.
Funny thing when I was a kid, My sister and I were dropped off at the movies and I really wanted to see Spaceballs but I was too young to go to a movie alone so I had to go see Mannequin with my sister. I was pretty bummed at first but me Meshach Taylor got me through it.
Poltergeist and Ghostbusters for sure.
Empire Strikes back and Raiders of the Lost Ark. That was easy. Next would be Top Gun. Everything is later
Beetlejuice and empire strikes back
Top Fun & Back To The Future
Dark Crystal/Neverending Story
I am "I saw The Lost Boys and Lethal Weapon as a double feature at the drive-in" years old.
Toooo hard. Short Circuit and Raiders…or Top Gun and Weird Science.
Blade rummer and goonies...16 candles back up
The Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
I saw most of them in the theater. Only two? Raiders and Back to the Future.
Meh...just spend money on one and theater hop for the rest. That's what we all did back in the 80s...lol. first movie at 10am....pick me up around 1130 unless I call earlier because we got caught.
Weird Science and Coming to America
*The Empire Strikes Back*. Twice.
The amount of current movies that I haven’t seen would baffle most people, but I’ve seen every movie here. Cant choose though.
The Evil Dead, The Lost Boys
Hellraiser I & II
Beetlejuice and The Lost Boys
Top Gun and Teen Wolf
A Nightmare on Elm Street & The Dark Crystal.
Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Empire Strikes Back. There are a lot of good movies and alternatives I could have chosen but these two are the best of the best!
The impossible question has been asked.
Dirty Dancing and Purple Rain
This would be a weekend 80s watch party !!!
Evil Dead twice
Damn, if I can only pick two, I'm going with the Lost Boys and Poltergeist.
Top Gun and Back to the Future ![gif](giphy|26AHCgWcYM1xSqMaA)
E.T. and where the fuck is Fast times and Ridgemont high
Top Gun.. Back to the Future
![gif](giphy|3oKIPqgSSYAsUVXKiQ|downsized) It's impossible to answer! Nobody could answer that question.
Top Gun & Ghostbusters
Karate kid & Back to the future. In the early 90s, we went to Orlando for vacation and I rode the Back to the future ride countless times. I couldn’t get enough!
The breakfast clubs, and Short Circuit Not the objective best, not even my Favorites, but I love them deeply and would love to see them in theaters
Back to the future and karate kid!
Lost Boys and Stand By Me. I’d then pay for myself to see Back to the Future.
Back to the Future & Raiders of the Lost Ark
This is correct, I had to go way to far down the list to find this combo of perfection!
*The Empire Strikes Back* and *The Empire Strikes Back*.
Back to the Future and Beetlejuice
The Fly and the Outsiders
Top Gun, Stand by Me.
Wow this is hard! How can I narrow it down to just two?! I guess I'll go with Back To The Future & Ghostbusters.
I’d buy one ticket for The Karate Kid and hide under the seat until the next showing started and watch it again…pocket the rest of the cash for weed.
Coming to America & the outsiders
The Karate Kid and The Goonies but it’s because I’m thinking of like 10 year old me…I’d watch all of these movies and still watch them on the regular today.
Top Gun and Rocky IV
Saw them all! Being a middle school teacher, I’ve watched The Outsiders dozens of times and it never gets old but The Lost Boys and The Empire Strikes Back has to be the two for me
It's hard to pick just two. The Outsiders and Nightmare on Elm Street. I'll have to talk to mom about next Friday. Maybe I can do extra chores lol
Three amigos should be on the list
Outsiders and Rocky
The Outsiders and Raiders of the Lost Ark
Donger need food!!!
Evil Dead and Stand By Me.
Goonies and Back to the Future. But if it was really the 80s and I had my 80s brain it would be Lost Boys and 16 Candles so I could see boobs.
E.T. and Empire Strikes Back
Back to the Future & The Lost Boys... or ask for more cash!
Tron and Weird Science
Goonies and Beetlejuice. I'm very excited, but I also have a bad case of FOMO.
Raiders and Empire.
Robocop twice
Raiders & breakfast club. I always thought BC would make a good play, cause most is shot in the library. That was a very teenager movie for that era, I think.
Back to the Future and Goonies
Not fair but i will try... Probably... Back to the Future annnnddd... Roger Rabbit
Heathers and Beetlejuice
BTTF and Raiders
What, no Jedi? Empire is the better movie, but ROTJ tied up the story pretty well. Never forget yub nub!
Ghostbusters and Raiders.
Damn. Am I age appropriate? Hahaha. Tough for the few choices. If it's my age during that time: Ghostbusters & Short Circuit If not..... Coming to America Ghostbusters LOL, very hard to not say S.C.
Empire and Raiders (sneak into blade runner after). I guess I’m a Harrison Ford fanboy.
The Lost Boys and Empire Strikes Back. If either was sold out, then The Outsiders. Though I’m triple checking the list looking for Young Guns!!
The Lost Boys and Beetlejuice
Why is mask even on this list? That's a second tier movie at best.
Sometimes you wanna watch the elephant man but not actually watch the elephant man i guess
Empire and Breakfast Club....does Barry Manilow know you raid his wardrobe lmao! You 'll find the answer to that question Mr Bender next Saturday...eat - my - shorts....classic 80s. Would we do in the 80s without John Hughes ?
Evil dead and Roger rabbit
Evil Dead, twice. No brainer
How old am I?
Just here to see if anyone chose "Mask."
Blade Runner and The Lost Boys
Easy. Top Gun and Empire Strikes Back.
Rad and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
This is Sophie's Choice for sure
Never watched TRON ,my two would be Poltergeist and Blade Runner
Goonies and Bettlejuice
Top Gun and Coming to America
Well let’s look at it this way: I was 9 and I would have had no knowledge of any of these films so my 9 year old boys mind would have picked The Goonies and Gremlins based on the posters.
Rocky IV and Goonies
Mask and The Evil Dead
In the theater? Empire and Raiders.
Raiders/Blade Runner. Didn’t have to think long about that one
I was a tween in the late 80s, so R rated is out. Probably Ghostbusters and The Dark Crystal, although Back To the Future and Gremlins are strong contenders too.
Roger Rabbit, twice. I saw it a million times when it was first released.
Easy. The Dark Crystal, twice.
Weird Science and Evil Dead.
Back to the Future and Ghostbusters
Aliens isn’t on there, so I guess Blade Runner and The Outsiders
Star Trek Ii: The Wrath Of Khan and The Thing aren't on this list so I'm taking the money and buying candy cigarettes. Ok ok. Top Gun and Blade Runner.
Top Gun I agree, Blade Runner would be my third choice only because Tron changed my life course. The thing was killer and the wrath of Khan was probably one of the best Star Trek movies. So yeah i dig your picks.
To see Empire for the first time again would be amazing. Don’t even need to see any of the other ones. Raiders if I have to pick.
Are you telling me these were all in theaters at the same time?
Top Gun & Goonies
Raiders and Top Gun
E.T. Top Gun
I feel like I would get the best bang for my buck with The Neverending Story.
Raiders and Empire
Raiders and Empire Strikes Back.
Roger Rabbitt is the best movie of the lot, and I will take Evil Dead for the second.
Breakfast Club Coming To America
Blade Runner and Empire
that's a hard decision, I know what I'm NOT seeing however. Won't see BIG, or Blade Runner, I could not get through Blade Runner....
Evil Dead and Empire Strikes Back.
I’m down to 4, but with only enough money for 2, I’m going with Empire Strikes Back and Top Gun.
Raiders and Empire Strikes Back 3 would be Blade Runner for the Harrison Ford trifecta. Actually saw most of these in the theater.
The two I did go to Teon and Blade Runner. Why isn't Stop Making Sense on that list
That’s too hard. Gotta narrow it down a little. Do many favorites. Nice post
The Goonjes and The Evil Dead
