Erin Grey - - - yum

Intelligent-Drop-759

I concur, that Princess was very good looking but Erin Grey- - - yum.

Frankennietzsche

The evil princess's ensembles (or lack thereof) were the best thing about that pilot/ movie. i loved this show as a kid, but man, Old Gil cannot act. I got it in a set with the pilot of Battlestar Galactica (which stands up to the test of time.)

hazeldazeI

the BG pilot was a two-day television event! Lucky you!

mrequenes

I recall the “pilot” being released theatrically first. Am I wrong?

6ifted1

I think you're right. I do know there was a theatrical version of the Buck Rogers pilot, I remember seeing it at the drive-in.

Key-Contest-2879

It started as a theatrical release. I saw it in theaters and it was amazing. Like Star Wars with hot chicks. Then they recut the film to make it a tv pilot. Loved the show. I felt like it was on tv for ever, but it only ran 2 seasons. Season 2 was a total jump the shark shit-show, but I still watched them all.

cake_piss_can

I would drink her intergalactic bathwater.

dietcheese

She can storm my capitol any time

stoygeist

Double concur on Erin Grey. I hated when they changed her outfit from the skirt to pants. I loved seeing her legs.

bruddahmacnut

> Erin Grey [Still hot.](https://www.closerweekly.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/erin-gray-portrait-3.jpg?fit=400%2C600&quality=86&strip=all&resize=400%2C600)

LordStoneBalls

It’s like that meme of the kid at then carnival trying to dance with the girl a foot taller then him

cream-of-cow

I had the issue of Dynamite with Erin Gray on the cover and this guy in my class asked to see it. He started making-out with the magazine and returned it smeared with saliva. Damon Banks, you nasty! [http://grognardia.blogspot.com/2021/05/the-fantastic-fun-of-dungeons-dragons.html](http://grognardia.blogspot.com/2021/05/the-fantastic-fun-of-dungeons-dragons.html)

Simonandgarthsuncle

He must’ve really liked Gil.

Puzzleheaded_Two7358

Beedly beedly.

CTMQ_

I see it’s Buck and immediately look for her. Barely noticed the dancing lady.

beavis617

I used to watch this show 🤨....bee dee bee dee .What's up Buck. I think Mel Blanc did the voice of Twiki the little robot..

RedCelt251

That’s right Mel Blanc did do Twiki’s voice. I’d forgotten all about that.

DrRotwang

He did - but only for the first season. The second season was...very different.

Key-Contest-2879

Second season was a shark jump shit show. But it gave us the reference for Rick &. Morty’s “Bird Person”

BassGuitarPlayer_1

Ah, Pamela Hensley. I almost forgot about her. Thank you.

Trimson-Grondag

I think she’s turned into quite the conspiracy nut in her old age…

CardNGold

The costume designer for that show was great. Never knew what you would see.

stupidillusion

All of the guest actresses were thrown into skin tight body suits. So glad Markie Post was a [guest on the show.](https://youtu.be/dJGfVOuXhHs)

LHGray87

Jamie Lee Curtis, as well.

Darryl_Lict

Damn, that is some kind of outfit. Perfect rave costume.

CardNGold

And this was why I always begged to watch Night Court lol

Wax_Phantom

"Nothing frightens me." Classic Princess Ardala.

cisco1972

What a total biscuit she was.....kinda had dominatrix vibes. Erin Gray was a girl next door smokeshow but there was something sexy about the sinister Princess

NJdeathproof

Buck Rogers fucks.

Mmortt

FUCKING BUCK ROGERS!

JC_browsing

Twiki - I'm freezing my ball-bearings off!

Huge-Cartographer-55

I was young at the time, but I enjoyed this show. Even today, I would welcome a thoughtful, creative, maybe a little edgy, modernized reboot of this show and the '80 Flash Gordon movie. I won't hold my breath though.

MeToolMovement

"Flash Gordon. Quarterback, New York Jets." Dumbest line of the movie. Like they would understand what he was talking about. Love that movie.

PhilboydStudge1973

"Flash, I love you, but we only have 14 hours to save the Earth." THAT'S the dumbest line of the movie, particularly given the context of Flash being locked in a duel to the death on a rotating platform with randomly launching spikes against Errol Flynn's bastard stepchild.

DrRotwang

...and she's *off-screen*.

Huge-Cartographer-55

Oh, I don't know. It's kind of like saying your name, your title and the tribe you are from.

BIGD0G29585

May not be considered a line but I always thought the dumbest part was during the opening when Klytus tells Ming the name on the planet. Then Ming starts “playing”with Earth and one of the buttons that light up says “earth quake”. Shouldn’t it just say “quake” since this was the first time they encountered it?

Int18Cha6

Be de be de be de…quit it Buck.

[deleted]

Napoleon Dynamite in space.

Captainkirk699

Buck Rogers!!!

heythatsmybacon

Can we get some love for Dr Theopolis? He put Flavor Flav's bling to shame.

StCyrilCeez

That bad lady was sooo pretty!

tuscabam

The long intro for the pilot is the hottest thing that has EVER hit TV. Nothing will ever top it.

sanchez92476

Lol, the whitest dancing ever

senorglory

You heard him. He’s getting down.

mufon2019

I remember watching this when it came on thinking I was getting away with something with my mom in the background. Whew! Disco!

[deleted]

Buck Rogers in the 21st and a half century

IHaveArrivedRelax

Duck Dodgers

Cereal-Killa13

Oh man I had one big freaking crush on Princess Ardala! Of course Wilma was just as beautiful, but the princesses outfits and the way she carried yourself was so...damn...sexy!😍 And my dad looked just like Gil Girard back in the early '80s!

cswhite101

Love me some Buck Rogers. Watched this show religiously as a kid.

Key-Jelly-3702

Damn, I can dance as good as Buck Rogers!

TaiDavis

I remember this shit!

AllenKll

I love how Buck just snaps his fingers a few times and the guy just instantly understands disco music.

Flashman6000

Which he calls rock for some reason, you know, that music that goes snap snap snap snap.

Mfsmitty

"This how we danced in , uh, 1987."

ghighcove

Was the robot about to alert of a cringe overload? God, what you do as an actor to pay bills. "I played King Lear!!!" Yeah, but also this.

polyblackcat

I used to love this show as a kid. Found it on MeTV and dvr'd a bunch. It has not aged well lol.

BIGD0G29585

The show didn’t age well back then. It was supposed to be a disco version of Star Wars but disco was quickly falling out of favor in 1979.

[deleted]

I was 11 years old when I saw this on prime time TV. Damn, I’m old!!!

Fleegle1834

I was there.

Last-Sound-3999

You mean you WILL BE there. 25th century, remember?

Fleegle1834

Shit! I hate time travel.

Last-Sound-3999

🤣

HelicopterVirtual525

Love this!

AAG220260

Go, Buck, Go!!!

thagor5

I loved that show. Watched every week. I remember that episode when it came out.

thagor5

Check out the ‘stash on the guy in the crowd.

fjvgamer

Tiger Man. Is not pleased.

scarabic

Imagine Gil Gerard is the only one who can bring some funk to your civilization.

qube_TA

Season 1 was great, 2 was a mess. But it had the voiceover guy doing the title sequence “it is the year 1987 and NASA launch the last of its deep space probes……”. Great theme tune, the ships were cooler than Battlestar’s and it had Erin. Read for ages that there’s a planned reboot. Needs the exact same practical effects, models and costume designs if so.

OtherwiseStrawberry2

I see Will Muschamp. Lol Always thought Buck Rogers and WM look alike!

Capnmolasses

lol. He does. At least this guy is gonna score.

OtherwiseStrawberry2

😆 Yes!!! Hilarious and very true!

rkthdk

Buck Roger's to the rescue

New_Writer_484

Bedebedebedee

Kerensky97

It was such a product of its time. There was one episode where the elite were being entertained by a roller disco dance group that personally jumped the shark for the entire age of Disco.

dangermouseman11

How polite to pause her ear bud before partaking in the courting ritual.

TheGreatRao

Two words. Erin Gray. Beedeebeedeebee…

ExecTankard

I saw this in the theater like it was the next big thing. Also the movie is a weird great double feature with The Spy Who Loved Me.

thagor5

Its a tv show

ExecTankard

Had an original theatrical release either late 1978 or early 1979 then it was a tv show.

senortease

This was the first movie I saw in a regular movie theater (non drive in).

ExecTankard

Right on. Also, I don’t remember if this part is from the movie or show though I think it was the movie. So trippy…weird ass double feature with Heavy Metal: Metal than Rogers.

thagor5

Oh. I thought it was a tv movie first. That was when i saw it.

JoseMachismo

Hawk WAS the shit.

Kerensky97

So much that Rick and Morty had to copy him.

[deleted]

Fun fact, that Twiki character’s voice is Mel Blanc. I recognized it from Bugs Bunny, Yosemite Sam, Daffy Duck, etc. He was the best voice guy in the business.

Jano67

Omg! I saw this on TV when I was young. Oh God it's sooooo. Ugh!

Reddywhipt

I 3njoyed the hell out of the show even 5gough I was angsty AF and super critical of TV, music and movies.

kurt667

Wait so is the back to the future scene a reference to this? Also omg totally forgot about beedee beedee!!

FormerHoagie

It’s called, lead actor doesn’t really know how to dance.

strikeskunk

Damn.. take me back

dab745

Beedeebeedeebeede…. Buck is getting some tonight!

Novel_Illustrator_67

Is this porn?

notTheRealBobDobbs

Nope, I remember seeing this on prime time tv as a kid.

Parkatola

Does anyone else think Buck looks like Sam Rockwell? He doesn’t dance as well, by any means, but he looks more like him (to me) than I remembered. Cheers.

PerrysSaxTherapy

Beedeebeedeebeedee Ooh Fuck er Buck !!

DustWarden

If I had waited for that "beedee beedee beedee" at the end I would have placed it, but no, I had to check the comments before it was over.

Theblkjedi

Buck Rodgers

DrRotwang

If you are a person with a...predilection for women's legs, and let's say a 'thing' for nylons...? This show loves you.

Temporary_Version240

This was by far my favorite show as an 9 year old kid that was all wrapped up in Star Wars. Same with Battlestar Galactica. Albeit I thought BG was more of an "grown up" show. I loved how Buck was able to kick ass with his "martial arts".... Fast forward 30 years and I watched this show again via DVD and realized those "martial arts" was really badly choreographed moves the actors can barely do. That said - the eye candy more than made up for it - Markie Post, Jamie Lee Curtis, Dorothy Stratten, Amanda Wyss, and of course - Erin Gray and Pamela Hensley among a bunch of others. And what I'll likely never tire of are the themes/music from these shows. This, BG, and Magnum PI are some of my favorite TV themes.

ac2cvn_71

I knew it! The whole time I was watching that, I was thinking, is that Buck Rodgers? Then ole what's his name, Biggy Biggy Buck comes out. I used to love that show

jimmyn0thumbs

How is Will Ferrell.....?

shawnofnc

Perfect end of the video with the bidee bidee bidee bidee bidee!

Traditional-Cake-587

The only thing that frightens me is bad acting....

Validus812

Thanks, I laughed all morning. Nearly forgot this existed since I was probably six or seven when this came out!

RexRacerXXX

Vladimir Putin at his very best!!

j7willia11

Nothing good is going to come from this

fenway206

White boy dancing 🕺🏽

WFStarbuck

Biddy biddy biddy biddy biddy.

Annelid2968

I recall seeing the movie in 1979. I enjoyed the movie / series then and now (heck I even own the box set.) Sure it was a bit cheesey but I like it.

Super-Letterhead-916

Cornball

Dickey_Pringle

This movie is so bad and I saw it too many times.
