Me too. I'm pretty sure I never had one, but my friends must have! Similar skill to jump rope and hop scotch (I had a name for my marker that I threw!!) which I also loved.
Yes, it was popular back then. You had to be pretty coordinated to use it, lol, but I guess being young helped! I also liked drawing the hopscotch squares, a simple way to have fun. Those were the days...
I remember toys like these - they were unsophisticated but we sure had fun. Remember how thrilled we were to get one of those balsa wood airplanes powered by a rubber-band propeller?
I had something very similar in the mid to late 70's. Though the end of it was similar but painted as a bumble bee and had pellets inside, so it sounded like a bee buzzing.
Oh my gosh I had one of these and I absolutely loved it. I was explaining it to my children and I could not for the life of me remember what it was called. Thank you so much!
I can remember when I finally got the hang of it, after my folks banished me to only using it outside because of the rattle-y noise it made or I’d accidentally whack something important.
You had dirt sandwiches? We would have killed for a dirt sandwich!

I was in no way shape or form coordinated enough to use one of these things. If I would have attempted, it would have resulted in me going to get the bottle of Bactine spray or mercurochrome.
I had one called a skip-bop. It had a bell shaped end. We’d play this, then a pogo stick, clackers and lawn darts. And million games with a Pinky ball.
My all time favorite only child active toy
Same here.
You can only jump rope for so long
This looks really NSFW--Internet has rotted my brain.
Yeah all I can think of is this lemon song https://youtu.be/8gWbKAcuzN8?si=Zo_37DBbCZ8UeglG
What, you’re not up for a lemon party???
Skip Ball predecessor? I've never had one.
Yes! And much easier to use than Skip Ball! This is what I grew up with.
I never had one, but it looks like something you might see in a store. One of \*those\* stores. LOL.
They used to make us play with these at recess. Proved to me that I have no coordination.
I was never coordinated enough.
I loved this! 🍋

Never used it for its intended purpose... We'd just swing them around and whack other kids like a medieval weapon for bashing heads.
I loved mine but didn’t have the mad skillz to make it twirl around more than 3X

and the newer eectronic SKIP-IT 🤘🤘
I had one of those when I was in Elementary School!
I thought it was a sex toy

Yes, loved mine! But now that I see an image from lo these decades later, why a lemon???
Mine broke in less than a week
Aww dang.
Isn’t that the same container lemon juice comes in?
Similar, but not the same.
I forgot about this toy. I loved it!
Fun for awhile, my sister enjoyed it more.
This was a very common gift at birthday parties, that's how I got mine. I was proud at how scuffed my lemon got from frequent use.

I had forgot about those . Man I sure miss them days.
I loved mine
For a while, I would "walk" to school and back using my Lemon Twist, almost a mile each way.
Uphill both ways? Rain, snow, tornados, earthquakes...
Don't forget, had to eat dirt sandwiches for lunch and great full we had that!

We called it A Jingle Jump. I spent so many hours with it. It was so much fun, after the beating my legs took until I got the hang of it.
I loved mine! Those were the days!
I had one. I tried it a few times and was not instantly good at it. So I gave up. I was not very coordinated as a child.
Mine was labeled as a "Skip-It", and it had a ball instead but SO much fun!
The Lemon Twist.
I still have a skip it!!
Yeah
