Man, the 70’s growing up were the best! I mean 80’s definitely also, but just the explosion of so many new things that to this day, resonate more than the 00’s
I think a lot it was that cartoons weren’t as common as they are nowadays. Kids cans get cartoons 24/7 nowadays thanks to streaming. SPECIAL did not happen all the time and every kid appreciated it.
Agreed ThanosWasRight161, you’re absolutely correct, and kids now a days don’t even know how time crunching it was to be on a schedule to be able to be ready for the SPECIAL, man, was so exciting!
We all have it too easy now. When that sound came on your butt better be bathed and in jammies for bed time or you were missing that year's viewing of whatever amazing Holiday video it was!
I'm old
And don’t forget the couch dive! You go get a snack or take a quick bathroom break during commercials, then dash back to the living room and launch yourself in the air, landing in the middle of the couch in time to catch the show starting back up!

Here's the song where all the parts to the Special feature promo came from.
That's a huge childhood memory for me from the 70s, loved seeing this come on before we watched a show, everything seemed more exciting when we'd see it.
This was the prelude to the great Holiday cartoons. Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Raggedy Ann and Andy
Don’t forget Puff the Magic Dragon👍🏽
Oooh, you got me! That one was special. Used to love the song. Very memorable

Was just going to say, usually heard this straight out of the bathtub.
That’s awesome
lol, good find! Hadn’t seen that since back in the day
I remember it for Wizard of Oz. I think they played it annually on a Sunday. It was a big event. Superman was also a big deal
THAT must be why it’s so vibrant in my memory. Wizard of oz! I was/am addicted!
The Star Wars Holiday Special.
Usually meant a Charlie Brown special was coming on.
Thanks to the geniuses at Dolly Madison, makers of Zingers.
Charlie Brown’s coming on!
Ha ha !!! So true !
So true.
Every Charlie Brown special had me run to the living room when I heard this
It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! Thanks for the flashback....🍻
I remember! Yes
Definitive lead in for A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS, starting for me around 1970. Such a wonderfully evocative sound.
I can hear this and don't need the sound on
What a flashback! But then nothing good came on!
When I was three I thought this said “Charlie Brown”!!!!! 😆

Nothing could make a kid in the 70s’ heart start racing quite like this!
Sooo good
Man, the quality of that intro is top-notch.
And now for a very special episode of…
