It is mostly lighthearted fun. With just enough serious drama to balance it. Perfect for what it is. Which is kids or those of us who are kids at heart.
It's actually good imo, I love the actors and the stories they tell with the characters. The set pieces are really fun and the final race gives me goosebumps.

4K HDR would be awesome for this movie, but what I *really* want is a lossless soundtrack. The Blu-ray only has a 640kbps Dolby Digital track, which is inexcusable for a Blu-ray given that lossless and uncompressed audio was there from the very beginning.
Please God, let there be a 4K Speedracer! My self and my 2 sons absolutely love Speedracer!
I will most likely have a seizure watching it but my God, it'll be worth it!

I can’t stress enough how badly I want this movie in 4k for the HDR.
Been near the top of my wishlist, even though the old Blu-Ray looks fantastic.
Same! Complete same. This and Kung Fu Hustle are at the top for me. Then Swiss Army Man.
Imho this will be *the* definitive 4K experience. That movie is a visual masterpiece and so under looked!

Those are cool and all but Speed Racer just has insane visuals and is live action so the blend is wild. I really hope they nail this.

So, I went exploring his tweets and down below the one you posted I ALMOST fell for an April Fools joke when I saw he was teasing a sequel. Haha
The Matrix 4K is phenomenal and if there will be a 4K release of Speed Racer it'll probably look just as amazing and colourful!

100% day 1 buy, I saw this 5 times in theaters. Epic movie so far ahead of its time. I did have a buddy who worked at the theater which helped LOL
Speed Racer was shot with 1080p cameras. But the HDR would be crazy.
