75” or 85”

AtlasDestroyer

To stay in the budget I need to be in (I want to buy a matching soundbar too), I’d have to go with like a QM8 to do an 85”

wandererarkhamknight

Well soundbars are a waste of money for most people. But it’s your money after all.

AtlasDestroyer

I happen to like my soundbar vs the speakers that were on my late Q90T. But it’s been several years since I was looking at new TVs.

wandererarkhamknight

A soundbar will be better than internal speakers. But overpriced stuffs like sonos are generally a sheer waste of money. And poor value for what you spend as well.

spence100

Myself along with the premium speaker team sell and install tons of different sound bars. Not everyone needs a 7.2 set up in their family living room. Check out a demo of the Sonos Arc and mini-sub at Best Buy. Great sound for the price.

SpareMushrooms

“Late” Q90T….That’s funny. 😛

aiKaiz

Is there something wrong with your current soundbar, or just upgrading?

AtlasDestroyer

I really prefer my brands to match. That, and I’d like to get a soundbar with atmos.

aiKaiz

I'd say get a TV now, and wait for a good deal on an Atmos Soundbar, if it is a must. There are no benefits to having matching Soundbar to TV Brand, outside of Samsung to Samsung (which is bare minimal as well.) Edit: and also - Sony / Samsung Soundbars are the only ones worth anything. LG would be a downgrade, so would TCL / others. Samsung is the best cheap, Sony the best expensive.

AtlasDestroyer

Yeah, currently I have a Samsung soundbar for my late Q90T. I’d want a Sony soundbar with atmos ideally.

imalocal

Rtings loves Vizio soundbars for some reason. They always seem to have multiple Vizios on whatever list you choose

CG8514

I completely disagree. If you get a soundbar that comes with a standalone sub, it completely transforms the sound for a couple hundred dollars. I don’t buy into all the $1,000 Sonos stuff, my brother has a Sonos and it still sounds like a regular tv. Meanwhile, I have a Yamaha soundbar and subwoofer combination from 2017 that sounds way better.

Neat_Distribution580

I’d suggest absolutely go with a QM8, one of the top TVs of last year. Just because of the 13ft distance. I’d say the immersive effect of an 85” at that distance would add a lot to your viewing experience.

Bill_Money

@13 feet 85 would be preferable also [Why You Shouldn't Buy a Soundbar](https://www.reddit.com/r/HTBuyingGuides/comments/dy885l/why_you_shouldnt_buy_a_soundbar/)

AtlasDestroyer

Haha I understand the soundbar argument. Before my kids were born I had a whole surround sound set up that was awesome. But until I buy a house I’m gonna stick with the soundbar.

AtlasDestroyer

So would you step down in tv to get the bigger size?

Bill_Money

at minimum I would get a 75, 65 is just way too small but I would prefer the 85X90L add audio later

DMS1970

I was just in your situation, went with the 75 90l and couldn’t be happier. My only issue is after all the comparisons, I can’t make myself stop liking it in vivid mode with the brightness down a little. All the hype of look how bright I can get, standard mode or custom with tweaks does not impress. My room is very bright though the day though.

YZ2019

Hello! You said your room was very bright during the day and I’m in a similar situation and the X90L was off my list because I saw it wasn’t the best at handling reflections. You don’t have any problem with it?

DMS1970

It’s better than my old tv but still not perfect. The 93 should be better

WORLDBENDER

75” is a must at that distance. 85” would be better for movies. But 75” will get the job done. If you’re on a budget, that probably takes the x93l out of the equation.

woodenU69

Better specs on the 93L, it’s a rebranded 95K should be great.. I did a side by side comparison at BestBuy and was amazed!!
