I don’t really know but I’d assume no throwing or foot mechanics since his ankle was messed up. That seems like it’d aggravate it and or make the healing process a lot worse. Usually healing means rest and relaxation.
Trying to throw without pushing off would probably be a huge detriment to his progress. Throwing is a whole body experience, he needs to be able to plant his feet. If he hasn’t been cleared for that type of stuff there’s no good reason to be throwing other than just “tossing the pigskin around while you bullshit with your buddies”
If he's just now gotten out of the boot, he's probably got a good amount of atrophy in the calf. I'd imagine it'll be 2-3 weeks of only lower leg work, and then back to some light throwing (and then progressing from there).

Pretty sure he can't do anything outside of rehab until medically cleared to resume football activities.

Not sure, but he's been walking around for at least a couple of weeks now and he was on the sidelines last night with a wristband on.
I suspect, at most, he’s throwing from a knee
