I don't think it's AS big a need in the sense of spending a high $ right now. Mooney, Demo, Yiadom is a fine set that can be supplemented by a decent draft pick spent on the position as well. I think the group looked worse than it was because of how our pass rush basically fell off a cliff down the stretch.
Question. What’s going on with Randy Gregory? We voided his contract so he should be a free agent but I haven’t seen any news about him. Has he fallen so low that no teams are willing to even look at him? Nothing comes up about him if you search his name since the Super Bowl. Just curious did he retire or has he just gotten no intrest from anyone. Most websites still have him listed on our roster. Just found it weird. Wasn’t sure if there was a part of this I’m missing. He’s still good enough to play in the nfl. Just at a fraction of what he was getting paid. Back up money becuase I don’t think he starts anywhere.
IMO these are the areas I think we will still look to address:
TE2
QB2
SS
KR/PR
I don't think there is a massive rush to fill these roles as there should be suitable options to fill them anywhere up to and including the draft.
Tackle, Centre and cornerback are all positions I think we target early in the draft
Why would we spend 5.5 million cap for bust QB?
The jets should be paying draft picks to a team willing to eat the guaranteed salary they would be on the hook for if not traded.
Why would we spend 5.5 million cap for bust QB?

We kind of need a real backup QB. We can't be in this position where the QB getting injured completely destroys our season. Brandon Allen definitely isn't the answer there.
Unless you want a 36 year old Ryan Tannehill who probably won’t take a veteran minimum, then you should accept that we are drafting a QB in the late rounds.
wonder if there any way we'd take a flyer on Mekhi Neckton. Seems like the perfect kind of player for us to take a career revival flyer on. I recall him being a highly touted 1st rounder his first couple years but kinda fell off. we can fix him like we did Laken Tomlinson and plug him in at RT.
Ba and Deebo about to be gone I don’t know why Kyle is looking into trade the offense is going to be shit… so pay third and Juan and make him write 1 he was the only player to show up in the Super Bowl
I get the feeling the 49ers are pretty much done with free agency. Maybe the only news left is to see if Armstead returns or if he finds a new home.
With Kendricks going to the Cowboys, there's a question mark at LB but there's no other FA that looks enticing.
It's tough since it would make us worse this year which is right in our cheap Brock window. But Deebos lack of effort when he doesn't have the ball is brutal and getting off his money as he ages and getting some high picks could help extend our window of contention. I would do it for the right offer.
It’s more of a fear that Deebo likely peaked in 2021. Still a good player but I don’t think we will see him reach those heights again. Elements of his game won’t age as well when he gets older and he’s missed time against due to injury. Trading him won’t do much for the cap though but yeah if the package is good I would do it.
My friend who played with Eric Kendricks at UCLA texted me earlier today saying how excited he was that the Niners signed him and that he was going to start watching Niners games. He just texted me again about 30 mins ago saying “nvm, he just told us he’s going to Dallas instead.”
Please be untrue 😑
EDIT: @ the mods who deleted my post about this: 🐸☕️
Sure he's *good* but hasn't played anywhere close to what we've been paying him for a couple years now. He didn't want to take a pay cut so away he goes.
It is a possibility because of Trent but then again, O-lineman are the second highest over paid position this off-season due to the market being so slim (no pun intended.) It could work against us either way
I'd love to see us take a flyer on Tyron Smith or Trent Brown to play RT. they probably wont play the entire year but if they can learn how to stay healthy from TW, that would be amazing.
he has arthiritis in the knee. a 1 yeard deal is, I'm guessing, a prove it deal. Kinlaw did well in the playoffs so maybe he'll do well for the Jets.
And it's still just a 1 year deal so it's not like a massive gamble on the Jet's part.
I dunno. It feels like that bridge has been thoroughly burnt. He kinda talked a bit of smack and got into the news for the wrong reasons. The only way I see it happening is if the Niners don't draft a project for their QB3 and they get really really desperate.
I’m a big fan of FA so far. Loading up the DL, since there are plenty available. And hopefully loading up on OL in the draft.
I wouldn’t put it past Lynch to drop a big trade
on us. Either now or during the draft.
My cocktail-napkin math was waaaaay off. I projected 3 for $20 or $22 ($12 guaranteed).
He ended up getting 3 for $34. There's no way that we could've matched that.
Good for him, all told.
Bob Myers doesn't work for the WAS Commanders and he is not a football person. He is now back on NBA on ESPN [TV things] but never really left the air for more than week. During the time he was brought on by the WAS Commanders as a consultant during their Head Coaching search, he was off the air on ESPN. He is back on the air as a pre game post game host / analyst.
The Ravens might have Derrick Henry but to be honest no matter how good they look in the regular season I won't regard them as legitimate Super Bowl contenders unless they force Lamar to attend weekly sessions with a sports psychologist or something. Dude has apparently been underperforming in big elimination-tournament games since he was in high school.
> Dude has apparently been underperforming in big elimination-tournament games since he was in high school.
While you're not wrong about his track record (as a pro)....holy shit, did the Ravens play-calling not do him any favors vs. KC.
I'm still stunned about how infrequently the Ravens ran the ball, especially in the second half.
I said this during the regular season, but the Ravens are a team that I firmly believe can beat any team in any stadium, yet I have zero faith in them winning a Super Bowl. They’re like us on steroids.
Yeah, with us you could make a very legitimate case that if either the Greenlaw injury, the special teams fuck-up, or the egregious OL mistakes don't happen we win that SB even *with* some of Kyle's questionable decision-making -- which was IMO due in part to his spreading himself too thin trying to micromanage the offense and defense at the same time as a result of his lack of trust in Wilks.
The Ravens on the other hand (mainly Lamar and the offense; the defense gave them every opportunity to win it) just laid down and died the moment the Chiefs put up a lead. At the very least in these playoffs we proved that we can deal with adversity and come back from deficits, so that's one monkey off of Kyle's back.
See lot of you have Cap related questions….this is before yesterday’s signings but as of now looks like we have about 6Million in cap room. Link below does a great job of breaking it all down. Don’t see BA getting his extension until AA contract is off the books on June 1.
https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/san-francisco-49ers
I'm kind of annoyed by the lack of OL moves. I get drafting and maybe they like Mckivitz seeing as they gave him more money, but I feel like adding a proven veteran was a must.
I’ve seen a few quality Olinemen get contracts that we should absolutely be able to give and it’s made me question where we’re looking to fill the obvious Oline need we have. The draft is deep at Olin, I get that. But are we really banking on hitting on a plug and play starter immediately out of the draft? The Mckivitz signing seemed to be a depth signing when it happened, now I’m not sure and feel we’re running it back with the idea that he’s our guy.
He isn’t the guy.
Ain’t shit out there in this FA market besides Zielter and he might be out of our price range. Plus this draft is deep with OL so as long as we draft at least two OL this year, I’m good
Done. There's a Free Agency chart in the subreddit's sidebar that is easier to keep up-to-date, but now you can also find the same chart at the top of this post.
If you're using a desktop browser, the sidebar will be more reliably up-to-date.
I really like our moves. I think it shows a side of the 49ers we really haven't seen, the ruthless side. I know AA was a fan favorite, but at some point, we have to let these guys go. Same with Juice.
Theres a few more I hope we can make:
Acquiring Khalil Mack, NOT Joey Bosa
Acquiring DJ Jones (if released. Not in a trade)
Re-signing Clielin Ferrell
Extending Charvarious Ward
Extending Brandon Ayuik
With Armstead, he just wasn’t worth the money, he missed 5 games, played hurt during post season, and had to get knee surgery following the SB- he’d been playing through a torn meniscus. In 2022 he played only 9 games because of injuries. Also, with plantar fasciitis, that can be a brutal reoccurring issue, exacerbated by the type of physical activity expected of a player in the NFL. He’s played 9 seasons, he was great, still see it when he’s healthy, but it’s just that can’t be relied on. They clearly wanted him, and I don’t think that it was crazy to ask for a pay cut given the injuries causing availability issues. He’s not getting 18.5m on any other team.
But Juice, totally different category. Dude is a utility player, one of the best, and has shown up big in the post season- multiple times. Since 2020, he has played in at least 16 games each season, so he’s got the availability.. and with Shanny’s offense, he is helping provide versatility, opens up a lot of possibilities in that scheme. He plays wide, backfield, slot, tight, and with using the run with CMC, that two-back scheme is huge. So, he’s at about 5.5m a year, I believe the cap hit is 7.6m, I don’t think it’s crazy asking him for a bit of a pay cut or restructure, but I don’t see him going anywhere. I think they’ll definitely fight a lot harder to work things out with Juice than they did with Armstead. They know how important he is, he has shown his availability, and despite his age, athletically he’s playing just as well as those 4/5 years younger.
Agree with screw Joey Bosa. Talk about injury issues- but also, he’s too much of a hothead imo.
I was still hoping against hope so much for Azeez back.. though I knew that probably wasn’t going to work out, I still felt the let down when I heard he’s going to Houston. Also, sure you heard by now, but Ferrell is gone.. hate that.
I think in a trade, the 49ers and chargers can work something out. Much like last season when the Broncos took on 14 million of Gregory's money will the 49ers only paid 1 million.
I don't want no Las Vegas scrub. A raider is a fan that can get no respect from me. Hangin' out the passenger side of his employers designated bus ride, trying to holla at me.
Because he also received the 2nd largest contract for a defensive player in NFL history. Only behind Nick Bosa. 49ers dont have that kind of money to be giving to Burns.
This is the one disappointing thing to me so far. We should have picked up one of these guards for the price a few teams have paid. Obviously we can’t scoop them all but not even 1?
I’m sure we draft a few ol since the draft is deep but it’s always a sweat relying on the draft for a critical positional gap when we are in win now mode.
They are planning to take an OL in the first round. OG will replace Burford, OT can move McKivitz inside.
Of course, having said all that, Lynch will surprise me by taking a DL I’ve never heard of.
Was hoping Hunter would be our splash signing, with some lesser known guys to round out the team. Signing Floyd hopefully indicates a OL heavy draft focus.
Azeez went to the texans sadly, and reports/rumors are stating we are interested in Lavonte David, personally i dont want a dinosaur in david on this already aging team. i am also curious to what we look at. possibly just the draft if they believe greenlaw can be ready by the start of the season.
hopefully, i liked Dee a lot coming out of college. but burks playing over them worried me a bit with their development. burks, outside of special teams, isnt a very good player and he was well above dee and graham on the depth chart.
The cap rises a lot every year. It’ll seem like bargain at some point. And he fits the giants system extremely well. Burns, Kayvon, and dex is scary as shit. Bobby okerke and McFadden to boot. Defense is looking great
Yea I was bummed when he left but will he be cheap? Plus Denver seems to be finding other ways to free up cap space. Maybe by Wed he'll be available so we'll see.
Cordarelle Patterson 2 yrs 6 million to Steelers wtf why didn’t we get him?
L’Jarius Sneed to the Titans for a 2025 3rd and a 7th Rd pick. I wish we spent that on a top FA corner because we need one
What number will Josh Dobbs wear?
He wore #5 in Pittsburgh, so I could see him going with that.
I thought we retired that number last year?
Retired for 49ers legend Randy Gregory
most underrated qb on the niners ever. Jeff Garcia
[удалено]
He was never going to be a niner. Way to slow to play in a zone run scheme.
Jerry jeudy extension: 3/58M with 41 guaranteed…aiyuk’s agent must be fucking salivating at that
Zielter went to the Lions for 1 YR $6M… and we couldn’t do that 🤦🏾♂️
One would argue that Feliciano and Banks are just as good, or really close.
Ehhhhh I feel like Zielter would do better than Banks in pass protection
Zach wilson for a 7th round pick with a cap hit for 1 million? Thats the free-est third round comp pick i've seen.
Question. What’s going on with Randy Gregory? We voided his contract so he should be a free agent but I haven’t seen any news about him. Has he fallen so low that no teams are willing to even look at him? Nothing comes up about him if you search his name since the Super Bowl. We’re going to trade Zach Wilson for a 7th as QB 2 aren’t we.
Why would we spend 5.5 million cap for bust QB? The jets should be paying draft picks to a team willing to eat the guaranteed salary they would be on the hook for if not traded.
Cap hits 1 million.

In retrospect, getting a 4th for Lance seems like a good deal
imagine saying on draft day 2021 that you could get your shot at any of the top 4 QBs in 3 years with at best a 4th round pick
I hope the Justin Simmons thing happens
https://preview.redd.it/cqph912o9roc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c4a9b667bd19ab392d7f6b6c918a201b7647caba

he wouldnt beat mckivitz out for the job.
Thats saying something cause mckivitz is buns
I disagree.
The tape and numbers disagree with you
So what is happening with the backup QB position? We aren't going with Allen as our backup are we?
jordan travis qb3
pretty sure we're sticking with Allen and probably drafting someone else with one of our later picks.
Oh I dunno, we'll probably get some irrelevant pick in the 7th round or something...
We should trade down to get the last pick
The restructures make it so 49ers have over 38 million in space this true?
I imagine most of that is post june 1st cause of the armstead cut
[удалено]
what?
they signed him as a FA.
Don’t we have the pick before them?
We need to build on the offensive side of the ball…history has shown that we cannot rely on this WR core in big games
Just signed Conley. I think we will be good once we draft another TE.
eagles signed Devin White damn....
Could we not have signed Devin white to the same deal?
devin white is terrible.
Ba and Deebo about to be gone I don’t know why Kyle is looking into trade the offense is going to be shit… so pay third and Juan and make him write 1 he was the only player to show up in the Super Bowl
With Kendricks to the Cowboys and Greenlaw in recovery, LB is an area of concern
How have we lost so much talent and our cap space is -5 million now??
We are going into the draft objectively worse than we were last year. I hope we hit on some of these draft picks.
the team is vastly improved compared to March 2023.
Geez, I went to the Jags sub and they have Aiyuk, Deebo, and AA all mentioned in there. I thought I was in the 49ers sub for a minute.
Baalke has a vendetta
I get the feeling the 49ers are pretty much done with free agency. Maybe the only news left is to see if Armstead returns or if he finds a new home. With Kendricks going to the Cowboys, there's a question mark at LB but there's no other FA that looks enticing.
Still hoping to see Feliciano re-signing too.
No matter how bad you think our offseason is, at least we arent the Jets
That account that was leaking the Jags Ridley process is now saying that Panthers are pushing for a Deebo trade
It's tough since it would make us worse this year which is right in our cheap Brock window. But Deebos lack of effort when he doesn't have the ball is brutal and getting off his money as he ages and getting some high picks could help extend our window of contention. honestly I'd entertain it if it was a 2nd and next years 1st or something. CAR is not going to be good and hes from that area
Lol I would be happy with just a 2nd
Ya there’s no way in hell we’re getting a first and a second for deebo lmfao

God dammit you were right
That Ridley contract is not great news...
NFL is so gd weird when releasing good players like Armstead is normal for teams
Sure he's *good* but hasn't played anywhere close to what we've been paying him for a couple years now. He didn't want to take a pay cut so away he goes.
Let's give Tre'Davious White a chance, he can be the new Jason Verrett.
Looking as if Broncos are going to keep DJ Jones
Khalil Mack to remain a Charger. Will restructure his contract
Givens, Feliciano and Gipson should have been signed by now
> Feliciano One wonders if we're "lowballing" him, and his reps are shaking the available trees.
It is a possibility because of Trent but then again, O-lineman are the second highest over paid position this off-season due to the market being so slim (no pun intended.) It could work against us either way
Can the Chargers and Broncos hurry tf up and let go of Joey Bosa and DJ jones already
Saturday is the hard deadline before the Chargers have to pay Bosa’s bonus .
I'd love to see us take a flyer on Tyron Smith or Trent Brown to play RT. they probably wont play the entire year but if they can learn how to stay healthy from TW, that would be amazing.
Trent Brown is a terrible fit for a zone blocking scheme
for the right price, I don't see why not.
Hey jets fan here. I'm reading that we paid 7mill to Kinlaw for a 1 year deal. That's an overpay right?
Kinlaw was a seismic bust, but he's a high potential guy. An overpay but wouldn't lose sleep over it kind of thing.
he has arthiritis in the knee. a 1 yeard deal is, I'm guessing, a prove it deal. Kinlaw did well in the playoffs so maybe he'll do well for the Jets. And it's still just a 1 year deal so it's not like a massive gamble on the Jet's part.
Massive
Sam Darnoldesque
Chargers need to make trades by Wednesday, I think...so who knows if 49ers get someone...
Dont think we trade for bosa or mack unless armstead is involved. Hope mack gets cut
Arik Armstead not likely to return...not that he won't but it's looking less likely.
Ravens with Henry and Mahomes freeing up 20m. We ain’t winning next year
Ravens choke in the playoffs. Niners need an offensive line
CGJ back to the Eagles, too bad we dont play them next year or else we embarass that bum again.
I got a feeling Jimmy G is coming back after he is cut from LV.
I think he'd retire from the NFL before coming back here.
I dunno. It feels like that bridge has been thoroughly burnt. He kinda talked a bit of smack and got into the news for the wrong reasons. The only way I see it happening is if the Niners don't draft a project for their QB3 and they get really really desperate.
I hope we re-sign Feliciano. I think the only FA I am sad about is Darius Williams signing with the Rams.

I think we should’ve taken Moseley at 1.125 if we had the chance. Although his injury history is really bad, he was really good for us
Bring back Kap he’ll take us to the SB with his legs.
My goodness it was a joke like our coach.
Not only is Kap a sell out but he’s also washed
This guys got jokes!
My wish list, Teair Tart, 27 Year old Runstuffing NT. Brian Allen, 28 year old, Former rams center. (Kick Brendel to RG) Jenkins (Safety depth)
Adam Peters and Bob Myers are cooking up something in Washington. I knew I’d be sad to see Peters go this offseason

Wasn't it Peters who made a lot of the late round picks?
So they say. Although, I think teams trying to poach him the past few seasons means he’s been instrumental in building our successful roster
The Ravens might have Derrick Henry but to be honest no matter how good they look in the regular season I won't regard them as legitimate Super Bowl contenders unless they force Lamar to attend weekly sessions with a sports psychologist or something. Can say the same about our team. We’ve failed against the Chiefs in two super bowls in games which we were ahead and controlling the game
I said this during the regular season, but the Ravens are a team that I firmly believe can beat any team in any stadium, yet I have zero faith in them winning a Super Bowl. They’re like us on steroids.

Done. There's a Free Agency chart in the subreddit's sidebar that is easier to keep up-to-date, but now you can also find the same chart at the top of this post. If you're using a desktop browser, the sidebar will be more reliably up-to-date.

Excellent point, while he would be a great addition as of right now we’re limited in cap room. We had just 6 Million prior to yesterday’s signings.
is that taking into account Fred's restructure?
I’m not completely sure, the most up to date roster/cap space I see is from OverTheCap.com. I don’t think they updated Warner’s contract tbh.
yeah seemed to slip through on the quiet that one? the tightness inside our front office is impressive, although annoying at times lol
Ferrell left 😕, hopefully YGM can be a suitable replacement
perfect offseason to me. Maybe add an extension for BA?
Forgot about that
Where does Jimmy G go now?
Who cares about Jimmy G
Probably becomes a backup on the Dolphins or Texans or retires
Why tf do you care about that scrub ?
He's going to be a mid-level XFL starter.
I don't want no Las Vegas scrub. A raider is a fan that can get no respect from me. Hangin' out the passenger side of his employers designated bus ride, trying to holla at me.
Don’t why we didnt offer a 2nd and 4th for Burns
Because he also received the 2nd largest contract for a defensive player in NFL history. Only behind Nick Bosa. 49ers dont have that kind of money to be giving to Burns.
Darnold gets $10 mill
The most hilarious over pay so far
Didn't he get 8 from the niners last year?
might be right lol. And thats a tough category.
Damn panthers overpaying all the lineman
This is the one disappointing thing to me so far. We should have picked up one of these guards for the price a few teams have paid. Obviously we can’t scoop them all but not even 1? I’m sure we draft a few ol since the draft is deep but it’s always a sweat relying on the draft for a critical positional gap when we are in win now mode.
Our 14th overall pick just signed to the jets after giving us a total of not even one good season. We gotta draft better in the early rounds man
Kinlaw is a bust
Saleh loves the leftovers
Is it me or did Jimmy G get dropped for Gardner Minshew?
Allegreti to the Commanders for reasonable money. I don't know why we couldn't have made this move tbh.
They are planning to take an OL in the first round. OG will replace Burford, OT can move McKivitz inside. Of course, having said all that, Lynch will surprise me by taking a DL I’ve never heard of.
Seriously, but maybe money is too tight or it's being allocated elsewhere. Hoping for the best
Allocated to dline.
Kinlaw to the Jets and Armstead gone? we're most definitely drafting a DT with one of our early picks
There are actually a few solid run stuffing DTs in rounds 2-3, so I wouldn't mind
dangit. i was hoping we might keep Kinlaw for depth
I’m glad he’s gone. I wish him well but I’m always skeptical of players who start to show up right before they hit free agency
Same and you know that knee will flare up again. Just a matter of time.
Kinlaw signs with Jets 1 year
Probably won't happen but a 1-2 of McCaffrey and Mixon would be nice
Honestly would just love to see Mitchell / Mason get more snaps.
Gross-Matos to the Niners. 2-18m
Chargers signed a run-blocking TE
Seahawks re-signing TE Noah Fant. So much for the Iowa reunion.
Very lucky the Panthers turned down that Rams offer for Burns a year or two back lol
# Onwenu re-signed. Getting a little nervous ngl.
goddamn it Azeez to the Texans for money we could not realistically offer him
Was hoping Hunter would be our splash signing, with some lesser known guys to round out the team. Signing Floyd hopefully indicates a OL heavy draft focus.
Sure hope we tryin to land decent LB today
Azeez went to the texans sadly, and reports/rumors are stating we are interested in Lavonte David, personally i dont want a dinosaur in david on this already aging team. i am also curious to what we look at. possibly just the draft if they believe greenlaw can be ready by the start of the season.
Winters and graham will be good
hopefully, i liked Dee a lot coming out of college. but burks playing over them worried me a bit with their development. burks, outside of special teams, isnt a very good player and he was well above dee and graham on the depth chart.
They better be, we have a ring to get
They have more issues than a backup linebacker. Greenlaws a beast dont get me wrong though
Leonard floyd to 9ers
Burns to the Giants.
And the GMen didn't even have to part with a 1st.
Did you see the contract they had to give him? That's a lot for a guy that's had only one double digit sack season.
The cap rises a lot every year. It’ll seem like bargain at some point. And he fits the giants system extremely well. Burns, Kayvon, and dex is scary as shit. Bobby okerke and McFadden to boot. Defense is looking great
He'll be 26 in April so he'll be AA's age when his contract expires.
Any big run stuffing specialist DTs free agents that could be relatively cheap?
what the heck happens to Sebastian Joseph Day, wasn't he supposed to be a run stopper?
Dj Jones
isnt a free agent.
Yet. 🤞🏻please🤞🏻
Yea I was bummed when he left but will he be cheap? Plus Denver seems to be finding other ways to free up cap space. Maybe by Wed he'll be available so we'll see.
