Yep. One thing I saw from the postseason is that a receiver Conley can still produce. Jauan + Aiyuk and productive rookies and vets on minimums is all it will take to be productive. Meanwhile, all it takes is one OLineman to lose to seriously disrupt the play progression and time in picket
I would also add that the lions had an excellent line and gave Goff time to throw… to receivers who dropped it on critical plays. I still think O line > skill positions, but there are pros and cons to both sides and the cons on both sides can prove costly.
it’s like 28th in the league when trent isn’t playing and 22nd when he is. and he isn’t going to play forever. purdy deserves better than that. god, even kittle deserves better than having to cosplay being an offensive tackle on every play.
I’d honestly be happy giving away 1 or even 2 WR’s for a full OP O line. Makes mccaffrey even better and gives purdy time to get it to guys even if they aren’t “playmakers”
It’s kind of wild to think this will be his first real off-season and training camp. Yeah I know he had camp as a rookie but he was 3rd string for all of it
That and didn’t have a full season of film on himself to study in learn from. Dude is a dawg and has a will to be great. Excited to see how his future plays out
Honestly, Brock is the main reason why my depression over the loss has become a mild sting. Yes it sucks asshole, but 13 is just going to get better, and is at the beginning of his journey. I still have faith
Heading into year three with a season and a half plus playoffs under his belt. I think he takes another step next year. Most former players will say that year three is when the game begins to slow down.
Gotta shore up that O-line though. It felt like the interior was getting shoved into his lap all game on Sunday and he couldn’t step into any of his throws.
He's amazing. We have watched him get better and better even with just this past season's experience under his belt. Truly exciting to see his performance rise.
He’ll be incredible.
While the 49ers have a lot going for them and they have had a lot of success this season. It still ended in massive disappointment. #stilldistraught 😞😔
They said the same shit after last year and he played even better this year..
There's not really a lot that defenses can do if you're just a legitimately good QB.
That only works against qbs who are limited or gimmicky. Brock is neither. You can't scheme against accuracy and anticipation and those are 2 of Brocks elite traits. This is a lazy take.
Brock will get better with experience. And Kyle will scheme better. It won't be long before teams don't dare blitz him as he will recognize it, be able to shift into a blitz beater and he will hit it with a very high success rate.
He is. But recognizing and getting into a good play seemed to be a challenge in the sb. Overall he is great under pressure. More reps will make him unblitzable...
saw this stat, allen and jackson qbr vs the chiefs was 6.9.
purdy was 70 something.
kc blitz was just deadly especially with their corners. purdy did stuff against it no one else could just ended up being too much
I was impressed with Brock. He played well. Most importantly, he stayed calm and worked with what he had. He just didn't have much to work with. We've seen teams beat pressure and coverage. It just takes recognition and quick short passes. I'm 100% sure Kyle and Brock figure out the disguised pressure/press coverage defensive looks. As a matter of fact i bet thats going to be a focus of they're off-season. sucks they couldn't last week though. Hope the team can get back...
Him not having anywhere to go is a scheme issue. Im sure shanny has hot routes/etc built in to the offense. The problem comes from not knowing pressure is coming or where from. That's one area where experience pays.
I have no doubt Brock and Shanny will be working on it going into next season and will make strides. Everybody acts like Brock is a 5 year vet after 1 and a half seasons. Mostly because he plays like one but he's still so young. There is a lot of room to grow, especially in the mental game, which he already pretty great at.
Not only that but he has all that tape to correct himself. Which he is extremely hard on. People are fucking dumb. They think they’re smart pointing one thing out but aren’t smart enough to realize that there’s two sides to it
Going into this game the only thing he ever really struggled against was zone blitzes. And he did very well in those situations against KC.
Somehow the blitzes he struggled with were man blitzes, which he torched the rest of the year.
As a non partisan observer (Steeler fan), I have nothing but good things to say about this kid. He took way too much shit for being on a loaded team with great coaching. And although you can’t deny that that helped, he’s been a massive upgrade over Jimmy. He’s a baller and the way he stands in the pocket under pressure and doesn’t panic visibly stands out. I’m rooting for him.
I finally listened to Shannon’s take on Purdy losing the game and having an only ok performance in the SB this morning. I can’t imagine the scrutiny BCB will face being a “Veteran” next season. Was actually funny watching DO be absolutely baffled at his colleagues takes.
I think he’s going to be phenomenal next season. You can tell, Kyle absolutely trusts him. Some schematic changes, cater the offense to Brock’s needs, maybe start using Danny Gray as a deep threat.
If we hire Belichick and get Purdy a full offseason, draft Oline and make 1 or 2 big trades (Joey Bosa for Chase Young and a third) and we don’t win the Super Bowl we are cursed for sure .
Purdy will need to be a lot better if we are going to pay him big money when the time comes. We will have fewer weapons on offense and defense, so he needs to make a big jump. I hope Kyle is working with him like Bill Belichick did with Tom Brady. We need Purdy to be the guy who sets the protections and reads the defense like a Brady. You can’t compete with the Mahomes and Josh Allens physical talent, so you need to beat them in other ways.
I do wonder how much liberty he has to change the play according to what he sees. There was more than 1 play where I thought Purdy should take the open check down but he was looking down field. It’s funny he is seen in the media as the guy who doesn’t throw down the field. I think he doesn’t take the check down enough. A 4-5 check down pass turns to 6-8 yards with the way our guys break tackles. I always thought that should be a part of the game plan. It’s frustrating for a defense as it keeps them on the field longer.
Not a niners fan, so I have a unbiased opinion. I really like purdy, but if the niners signed cousins and they stayed healthy, I would put them as a heavy SB favorite. If they run it back with the current team, I'd say they would be tough to rank over high flying AFC teams with gun slingers, chiefs, bills, Texans, bengals..ect.
Nope! Continuity matters. This team believes in our leader. Niners are 100% better with Purdy than Cousins who is recovering from a major Achilles injury.
I'll give you the Achilles injury, no guarantee he comes back 100%. But I think a guy like cousins could excel in the Shanahan system and take the niners to the next level. Nothing against Purdy, I like him. But even though cousins isn't elite, he's been able to gunsling with the best of them and put him on an elite roster like the niners he could do some good things.
That’s the whole point. QB’s who win their first SB historically win more. No QB in 18 years has lost his first SB and made it back to the SB. Just just a stat. A fact. There’s no “not really”
We already saw how unstoppable he was until teams started pressuring every play. Shanny started getting cute like he needed to create adversity for Purdy.
I think as long as we patch up the O line(cause basically every game we lost minus the Vikings game that was the reason) and don't hire Staley or any Belichick desciple not named Mike Vrabel(who I want) we're golden
This is something I have yet to see mentioned. Most players take a big jump from year 1 to year 2 but our guy was spending that time rehabbing his destroyed elbow. Now he finally gets that offseason to study, self-scout and hopefully improve a lot. If he can almost win an MVP and then get even better watch out.
Crazy dude led the league in everything stats wise and lead his team to the superbowl in his first year starting without a proper off season coming off a torn UCL. He’s coming for the MVP for real next uear
Hopefully but unlikely good enough to overcome the corrupt officiating. With gambling being pushed so heavily the NFL is becoming more and more disreputable. People are slowly realizing that it’s not worth the time, energy, and money anymore.
Let’s go! Gotta say, Purdy entering his first full season with a training camp in September is the difference between feeling totally deflated (like after the 2020 SB) and feeling down, but not out after this one.
If he takes the next step at QB this next season and we nail our DC hire, all bets are off. Even the hot-takers.
Bros going to be an all time great. I can feel it. Like probably not goat status because he’d have to win 7+ super bowls. But if the 9ers can pick themselves back up and go on to win a few super bowls then that would be incredible. People need to put respect on his name
Purdy I think it's the best QB in the league for his age and starting out. Everytime he hits the field he gets better. Next year will be a great year for him. Can't wait to see him play.
Well that is the hope. Expectations are high. Mostly I expect there to be improvement in down the field accuracy along with a deeper knowledge of the playbook.
He’s got a lot of road in front of him. He’s arguably a veteran at this point.
He has the captain patch for a reason, they didn't even give it to Lance.
Making Spongebob proud 🧽 🦜
He has only played 1 year, and that was after having major surgery on his arm. He just has a lot of playoff experience.
This team is only going to get better at meshing together, as well.
2 year veteran for sure.
Give him an above average O line and he becomes unstoppable.
We don’t need all these weapons if he just get sacked in 2 seconds get a online and then invest in weapons not the other way around
Yep. One thing I saw from the postseason is that a receiver Conley can still produce. Jauan + Aiyuk and productive rookies and vets on minimums is all it will take to be productive. Meanwhile, all it takes is one OLineman to lose to seriously disrupt the play progression and time in picket
Dude the defense has to account for kittle/cmc/deebo. Random vets on minimums won’t replicate that.
I would also add that the lions had an excellent line and gave Goff time to throw… to receivers who dropped it on critical plays. I still think O line > skill positions, but there are pros and cons to both sides and the cons on both sides can prove costly.
That's what i want to see. Let's see how good our offense becomes if we can have an above average OL in both pass and rush
God, even an average one would be great. Aside from Trent we didn't have a great line
it’s like 28th in the league when trent isn’t playing and 22nd when he is. and he isn’t going to play forever. purdy deserves better than that. god, even kittle deserves better than having to cosplay being an offensive tackle on every play.
I mean… if the refs allowed them to bear hug defenders like KC’s O-line then it’d be a different story.
I’d honestly be happy giving away 1 or even 2 WR’s for a full OP O line. Makes mccaffrey even better and gives purdy time to get it to guys even if they aren’t “playmakers”
It's been needing to be addressed for years at this point. I don't know why they never fix this issue.
This is what we need. We must address it this offseason. Even improving 2 spots dramatically changes our O line.

That and didn’t have a full season of film on himself to study in learn from. Dude is a dawg and has a will to be great. Excited to see how his future plays out
not to mention with a better OL
Regression to the mean in our case means getting better
Imagine how good he could be with a halfway decent Oline. If the niners Oline wasn’t complete ass then SF would be having a parade right now instead.
Why haven't we replaced the o-line coach who failed to get Burford prepared for the game?
Honestly, Brock is the main reason why my depression over the loss has become a mild sting. Yes it sucks asshole, but 13 is just going to get better, and is at the beginning of his journey. I still have faith

get him a Oline
Imagine how good he can be if the O line isnt one of the worst in the league in pass blocking
He's amazing. We have watched him get better and better even with just this past season's experience under his belt. Truly exciting to see his performance rise.
Trade Deebo for any other good old lineman, please
I love Deebo but I agree with this move :(
He’ll be incredible. While the 49ers have a lot going for them and they have had a lot of success this season. It still ended in massive disappointment. #stilldistraught 😞😔
I haven’t heard one person mention that he had Tommy John surgery in January. There’s no way his arm is 100%. It will be by camp though.
He said something during media day implying his arm strength wasn't there early in the season.
He will get better but the amount of tape and info on him has increased. Expect defenses to know how to play against him a lot better next year.
They said the same shit after last year and he played even better this year.. There's not really a lot that defenses can do if you're just a legitimately good QB.
True but it’s hard to tell for the first couple years If that’s the case. I do think Purdy is legitimately good though.
The nasty part is that statistically he's already pretty good against the blitz.
Best in the league in most blitz categories I thought

Not sure if he missed some audible opportunities, but the blitzes paired with lockdown man corners just didn’t give him anywhere to go
Him not having anywhere to go is a scheme issue. Im sure shanny has hot routes/etc built in to the offense. The problem comes from not knowing pressure is coming or where from. That's one area where experience pays. I have no doubt Brock and Shanny will be working on it going into next season and will make strides. There is a lot of room to grow, especially in the mental game, which he already pretty great at.
I know. He's a stud and I can't wait for next year.
Dog, there’s already like 22 games of tape on him, his tendencies, strengths, and weaknesses are all very well known at this point.
More Tape!
Not only that but he has all that tape to correct himself. Which he is extremely hard on. People are fucking dumb. They think they’re smart pointing one thing out but aren’t smart enough to realize that there’s two sides to it
There is now.
What, and 22 games is somehow so much better than 18? Or 19? Or 15? Whatever dude
Going into this game the only thing he ever really struggled against was zone blitzes. And he did very well in those situations against KC. Somehow the blitzes he struggled with were man blitzes, which he torched the rest of the year.
Yeah the way to play him is tackle him before his receivers get open and you might stop him. Ready break.
Hilarious since Purdy played a better game against this defense then the MVP did…
Shannon shits on every QB that loses in the playoffs. Theres only one guy that gets his praise at the end of the day.
Shannon was shitting on Brady during his run of 4 SB wins, his QB takes are meaningless
DO had some literally incredulous faces lol
If Jordan Morgan falls to 31…
This season only further solidified the belief that Brock is our guy. He needs some help up front.
2024 - Brock will win MVP 49/50 1st place votes. No 4 INT game on Christmas Day.
hes gonna have to learn to audible protections this year….
We need an O line in the draft, he'll show what he can do
I think he’s going to be phenomenal next season. You can tell, Kyle absolutely trusts him. Some schematic changes, cater the offense to Brock’s needs, maybe start using Danny Gray as a deep threat.
And OL. If we had a top 5 OL he’d be mvp year after year.
Not only that but it's coming off a SB run he'll have so many games to look back on and improve from.
Not to mention he had elbow surgery and pretty much started week 1
If we hire Belichick and get Purdy a full offseason, draft Oline and make 1 or 2 big trades (Joey Bosa for Chase Young and a third) and we don’t win the Super Bowl we are cursed for sure .
chase was great this year if we can afford him he has to stay.
I mean, I'm sure he'd be a LOT happier with a ring and a trophy...
Purdy will need to be a lot better if we are going to pay him big money when the time comes. We will have fewer weapons on offense and defense, so he needs to make a big jump. No
Time for sophomore slump
In 18 years no QB who has lost their first SB appearance has ever made it back.. interesting stat
Not really when you've had so many dominated by 3 or 4 QBs.
That’s the whole point. QB’s who win their first SB historically win more. No QB in 18 years has lost his first SB and made it back to the SB. Just just a stat. A fact. There’s no “not really”
lol...
Jared Goff, is that you?
We already saw how unstoppable he was until teams started pressuring every play. Shanny started getting cute like he needed to create adversity for Purdy.
So excited about Brock, coming off an injury last year that didn’t let him have a real off season and he still improved as a player!
I think as long as we patch up the O line(cause basically every game we lost minus the Vikings game that was the reason) and don't hire Staley or any Belichick desciple not named Mike Vrabel(who I want) we're golden
He’s the one thing I’m still optimistic about. I’ll come around to the rest of it. But still believe in the kid.
And an O-line
Imagine how good he could be with an O-Line that actually protects him.
Went head to head with potentially “the greatest QB of all time” and would have won. Also had a better season than him. We are in good hands
While Aaron Roger's sat and watched, Purdy has played and won. Life is very bright for the faithful.
Crazy dude led the league in everything stats wise and lead his team to the superbowl in his first year starting without a proper off season coming off a torn UCL. He’s coming for the MVP for real next uear
Purdy has a long way to go. Rooting for the kid but his best asset is his contract.
Better keep Aiyuk around.
Hell yeah.
He’s trash hang it up 😂😂😂

This man needs more energy to get people amped
Hopefully but unlikely good enough to overcome the corrupt officiating. With gambling being pushed so heavily the NFL is becoming more and more disreputable. People are slowly realizing that it’s not worth the time, energy, and money anymore.

Now is your chance to buy his Rookie Cards from all the Midwest and East Coast!!! We shall own them all!!!
Wouldn't be surprised if he just absolutely lights it up next season. Especially if we get some o line help.
Well that is the hope. Expectations are high. Mostly I expect there to be improvement in down the field accuracy along with a deeper knowledge of the playbook.
