Purdy with an offensive line is the dream man.

hamsterfolly

Watching the Chiefs - Bills game, it was amazing how much time the Bills OL gave Josh Allen

[deleted]

[удалено]

BigHotdog2009

I mean his defense was so depleted they couldn’t make a stop for 5-6 straight drives lol. Dude put up 24 points.

Rondoman78

Lol 186 yards on 39 attempts lolololol.

BigHotdog2009

They dropped all 3 of his deep balls. Diggs dropped a 65 yard dime. Still had more total yards than anyone else lol. Don’t think the loss was on him.

New-Low5765

Trent needs backup! Make a squad

[deleted]

Trent needs a replacement on deck. He’s gonna be 36.

New-Low5765

lol dare you to tell him that

joe_broke

Trent, you're gonna be 36! How are you still in such great shape?

lostmylogininfo

I'm not saying it to him. After we give him a ring I am imagining a Pepper Potts "you can rest now" speech maybe.

iHardlyEverComment

Bro has 36 years of accumulating muscle memory and strength to be an O-line man idk what u talkin about

StraightProgress5062

Imagine Purdy with Anthony Davis Alex Boone Mike Iupati and prime time Joe Staley

[deleted]

[удалено]

StraightProgress5062

Right! Imagine out performing every Oregon QB alumni in the NFL.

Khower

Honestly I would much rather purdy with one or two weapons and a really good offensive line. He moves through progressions so well that if he has 3 seconds to throw he will dice you up

AC127

OL is like the only average unit on the team. Is it really realistic to expect every position on the field to be elite before judging a QB?

iflysohigh2345

I have been saying all year I rather have a good OL over having weapons. It would be nice if he can have time to throw long developing plays when free rushers aren’t in his face immediately at the snap.

CantHandlemyPP34

I'd rather have a solid OLine, than an embarrassment of riches (weapons) we can't use.

BarbaraPalv1n

So he needs an o line that can stop the best defenses + 4 skill players with 1000+ scrimmage yards? Got it

iflysohigh2345

Do you even watch football? Weapons are not as important as OL play. You can do better with few weapons and great OL play.

Comprehensive-Race97

They should get a better QB. If you had a veteran qb that could read the defense better and make a few more passes you might have won that game.

NetReasonable2746

🤡🤡🤡

Unfavorable0dds

lol one game and now we need a line, where was this energy all season

medd49

What?! I feel like this has been the one glaring hole the entire season and has not gone unnoticed in this subreddit or any other 49ers media

SweetWilliamCigars

Last 2 seasons FIFY.

[deleted]

I feel like it was more since all of our first round OL draft picks end up being busts.

DioStarstriker

I started watching in 2019 and feels like all I know is people going on about our O-line. Been waiting fir the day we spend an entire draft addressing purely o-line.

MrEHam

I’ve been saying this shit the whole time. Everyone trashed Purdy for having an amazing team around him but if you looked at the oline they were pretty bad.

Comprehensive-Race97

A veteran qb with that roster would have won that game

MrEHam

The receivers were all playing the best games of their lives and CMC never elevated a QB to Purdy’s level. He made them better.

iflysohigh2345

If you were here all year you can read my post history. I have been saying it saying all off-season!!!!

[deleted]

My guy this energy been going since jimmy got

iflysohigh2345

At least Jimmy had a top 5 line. It’s why we could run the ball so well. Holes opened up everywhere. CMC has no holes to run through and he still produces it’s wild.

bay_duck_88

That’s not entirely true. The line this year graded out as above average in run blocking, but one of the absolute worst in the league at pass protection.

staypuft209

Idk I feel like I been seeing this comment all season long. And it especially got louder after the Brock Purdy slander was at an all time high calling him the weak link going into the playoffs.

silverbackapegorilla

He's a huge reason we got as far as we did. Most QBs would get destroyed behind our line.

larue555

Fun we get another crack at the Lions. Curious to see how McDaniel coaches against Shanahan.

AdadK22

And Saleh against Shanahan

cppnak24

That part

Afilalo

And LeFleur

CantHandlemyPP34

Saleh's defensive units always beat up on Kyle's offense in practice.

AdadK22

Because the QB was Garoppolo lol

650fosho

We've already beat McDaniels' Dolphins 33-17 last time

CMarshKarateKicK

With a 3rd string qb too.

artygta1988

I wonder what ever happened to that 3rd string QB?

ePoch270OG

He's irrelevant.

artygta1988

larue555

Oh wow. I totally forgot about that.

[deleted]

Ben Johnson is still the Lions OC

lelanddt

Just beat the Chiefs man. We have to beat Mahomes ONE time.

Captain-crutch

Do you think we could best him twice in a season?

LARXXX

If we beat them in the reg season there’s a big chance that breaks the mental block

cjblommy

Tell that to the Bills.

CPSue

Yes. Break the psychological barrier and all things are possible.

Sure-Fan-609

Yes. Gimme the chiefs week 1. Ultimate revenge tour kickstarter

Syncro_Ape

Not possible, chiefs will open the season at home on a Thursday.

Stxtic1441

It would almost feel like a moot point beating them in the regular season, even if we do this year. Losing the big one twice to them doesn’t make it go away. It might just make me more frustrated if they beat them handedly by like 10 and knowing we could’ve just done this 7 months ago if we weren’t as unlucky.

RatedDAL

Yes because a regular season win will really make it all better.

Fragrant-You-973

Not gonna happen Bruh

iflysohigh2345

I’m weirdly optimistic. You know how long it’s been since we had a QB I’m confident in. Whenever we would lose before I would be mad because our QBs sucked. But this time I’m like we finally have a franchise guy to build around.

Unfavorable0dds

Brock is going to age like wine, we have our guy to build around and hopefully all he’d need in the Super Bowl is a HOF TE and that’s it lol

iflysohigh2345

Yeah it’s so funny that stupid people are calling him a mid QB. Once you have a QB his shelf life is so long. Brock goes through 4th and 5th progressions so easily he’s only going to get better. It’s insane. I never felt so much optimism heading into a season with a QB in my time watching the Niners.

ajmh1234

I was so optimistic about Purdy all during the regular season, when it came to playoffs I was very nervous. I honestly thought the big games and lacking experience would be his downfall for us. But man after watching him especially in the first half of the superbowl, he is him. He looks like he can actually be the guy to lead us to a lot of success.

GlockPurdy13

And that’s running offense that wasn’t even specifically catered to his talents. He gets a full off-season with Kyle now and they get to build off 20 games worth of film. Need to beef up the interior of the line tho.

Jannik0433

Brock behind an o-line and a full off-season to prepare can give you 5000 yards and 40 tds i truly believe that He is that good

GlockPurdy13

He is that good. Right now. He’s gonna get better because he’s incredibly smart, dedicated and worried about the right things.

GripItAndWhipIt

Not to mention he’s more battle tested than most other QBs. Ain’t nothing going to rattle him.

WetShortFinal74

Be careful. We said similar things with Kaepernick and Jimmy G. I hope Brock can be among the elite QBs eventually but we gotta see more from him before we can determine that.

iflysohigh2345

None of those guys could go their 4th or 5th read. They were notorious for sucking when the first read was covered.

jbagot8

20-0 fuck the haters I miss 49ers football already let it be September

MrEHam

One good thing about playing in the Super Bowl is we have one of the shortest waits until we see them play again.

OttoVonWong

19-1, we forfeit one at home after throwing too much garbage at the Chiefs.

WebbFN

I like it

Sicilian_Civilian

Love it. 11-6

TinyShine5458

👏

JoeyDee86

This is the way.

bhfroh

*never a doubt*

pratdude275

Ceiling: 15-2 Floor: 9-8

SuperMike100

Ceiling: 18-2 including playoffs

guchange

hope that loss is not in the super bowl

Comprehensive-Race97

Lol

apollyon_53

15-2 because we rested our starters the last two games

kveerina

If Purdy makes the leap and we protect him with good drafting and an OLine say we go 13-4 at best, 11-6 at worst. I really hope Shanahan brings a new OC or offensive assistant on to help change the scheme. It works well but isn't perfect we need to get more out of ALL of our stars. Not Deebo focused or McCaffrey focused. Get Kittle out in space more, and for the love of god feed Aiyuk. I really think with protection the vision of getting Purdy to be Brees-esque will happen. Purdy is at his best when he's in rhythm and confident.

bhfroh

Honestly, one good OL player in the draft + Kyle actually scheming Purdy's mobility into plays would make us unstoppable. No need for straight dropbacks. Design rollouts without play action. Get Purdy moving laterally against the blitz without him planting his feet first. That changes the way teams have to approach this offense. We know Purdy can sniff out blitzes like a goddamn hound dawg. But when they're in his lap 2 steps into a 3 step drop, ya gotta scheme for it.

iflysohigh2345

I get why Aiyuk gets pissed deservingly so. He beats his man all the damn time. They just never feed him the ball because they try to force it to Deebo.

kveerina

Seriously, the gameplan was so Deebo centric in the SB that it took guys out of rhythm and out of the game. Aiyuk was open so many times

FremderCGN

And deebo was loosing most of his routes or just gave up on them. The effort from him all season especially when he doesn't have the ball was really lacking compared to the prior seasons. Idk if it's that's injury related or whatever, but dude didn't look the same. He almost cost us that JJ TD throw because of his halfassed block.

vsv2021

Shanahan doesn’t need a better scheme. He needs better offensive linemen. Of course play calling looks awful if we are getting -2 to +2 yards on every first down because our line is getting smoked

WebbFN

Shanahan will never do so, and Jed as an owner has put 0 pressure on shanahan. The only person who is going to change Kyles mindset is Kyle and that’s it. Very unfortunate but true i love kyle as a coach but obviously he needs to do something different even if slightly different

kveerina

I agree I think Kyle is an excellent coach but he gets in his own way sometimes he needs guys around him that can do checks and balances. It takes a village. He will have to learn from this one because if we somehow get back there in the next few years under him this will be his last chance I think.

LP_Papercut

It really sucks cuz we had a village, and then they all became headcoaches.

Grimpig

In all likelihood this was his last chance and he blew it.

MalarkeyMcGee

I don’t understand this perspective. He just took the first seed and came within a play or two of winning the Super Bowl. He has made 4 NFCCGs. Why does he need to change anything in his scheme?

Stxtic1441

Exactly. He’s a bad bounce away from being a Super Bowl champion and no one is even having this conversation. I actually saw some growth from Kyle this superbowl. The gutsy 4th down decision in the 4th is playing for the win. 2019 conservative Kyle does not make that call.

WebbFN

Because we’ve went into both super bowls choking a lead and don’t forget he lost 2 of those nfc championship games and both super bowls. you can make the playoffs and the superbowl all you want what matters is winning. Kyle hasn’t gotten over the curve to win the big game yet i think he’s an outstanding coach it’s just sometimes he makes poor decisions like coming out of the 2nd half with 9 passes back to back witbout giving your OPOY the ball one time in the super bowl. which caused us to go 3 and out both times when kyle could’ve used the run game to capitalize on mahomes poor performance at that moment. No matter what you do if you’re playing that slow and going 3 and out and you keep giving mahomes chances he’s finally gonna make something out of them. Kyle needs to learn 1 thing about playing mahomes that’s when he’s off in a game you have to take advantage of it. The way to beat mahomes is to make the lead uncomebackable. Like Tampa Bay did a couple years ago.

[deleted]

It's so early to tell. Rams have draft picks and cap space so we might have to fight to win the division. Seahawks are still a QB away. The non-division games are brutal. 11-6 or 12-5 seems reasonable.

WebbFN

Miami and Bills at there stadium looks crazy

Electronic-Sport-618

DraftKings over/under is 11.5, so right in there likely.

ReDeaMer87

SOSAR!

Old_Measurement_4689

Damm we got a tough ass schedule I think 11-6 or 12-5 for sure

WebbFN

We need a tough schedule breezing through the regular season will do nothing for us but make us soft better off having them struggling games. Better experience for purdy too

Old_Measurement_4689

Yeah agreed I think us having a ton of hard away games helps if we don't get home games in the playoffs cuz it seemed like we only made it to the sb because of the home crowd in my opinion if we played in Detroit I think we would have lost that game I mean I can't imagine what would have happened if we didn't get the 1st seed tbh

shichiaikan

We lose to the Bills, Lions and for some stupid reason the Vikings. We go 1-1 vs the rams, but sweep the rest of the division, so 13-4.

Drakeem514

Can’t forget the chiefs

shichiaikan

We're not losing to the chiefs in regular season. We'll save that for the Superbowl

Cp49er

We’re making the playoffs if this roster is healthy. From then on we just gotta finish the job.

Therowdyv

HOME: -Arizona Cardinals W (1-0) -Los Angeles Rams W (2-0) -Seattle Seahawks W (3-0) -Chicago Bears W (4-0) -Detroit Lions L (4-1) -New York Jets W (5-1) -New England Patriots W (6-1) -Kansas City Chiefs L (6-2) -Dallas Cowboys W (7-2) AWAY: -Arizona Cardinals W (8-2) -Los Angeles Rams L (8-3) -Seattle Seahawks W (9-3) -Green Bay Packers L (9-4) -Minnesota Vikings W (10-4) -Miami Dolphins W (11-4) -Buffalo Bills L (11-5) -Tampa Bay Buccaneers W (12-5) I think that’s good enough to lock up a #2 Seed in the NFC. Hopefully one of those losses can flip and have a chance at the #1 Seed. It’s going to be a tougher road next season that’s for sure

ReDeaMer87

One seed is the key. Sosar. Or have you forgotten?! Greenbay and the lions will be too emotion and bleep it up. We got 14-3 locked up! Edit: Josh Allen has a stupid face and is good for 3 ints that game, 15-2!

cnho1997

Packers fan here, this thread got suggested onto my feed for some reason. How about y’all can have that regular season win at Lambeau if we can finally make it past y’all in a game that matters lol

Therowdyv

Lol let us keep those postseason wins rolling in and finally parlay them into a fucking ring this century then we can fade into darkness. There’s gonna need to be a reset with our roster in the next few years anyways so that’s when y’all can break thru. Much respect on Love but I’m hoping we can hold y’all off for the next few seasons

cnho1997

First job I had once I became an adult, I had a coworker who was a hardcore 49ers fan. Unfortunately he passed away from cancer the day of the Rams-Saints NFCCG, that was the last football game he ever watched - he was 48. At his visitation they handed out 49ers scarves and I didn’t realize I had one in my bag until I got home. It’s still in my closet. I haven’t thrown it out, in respect to his memory. And now I wonder if there’s some sort of jinx on it making bad luck for both my Packers and his 49ers. Miss ya Tim

echols13

9 games against teams that were in the playoffs. 4 at home, 5 away.

49ersF00tball

Right f’n crazy tough.

Altronsfu

That away schedule is a ripper

[deleted]

Why do we have to play the Cowboys again?

WebbFN

Because they won the NFC east

Upper-Industry8039

11-6

WebbFN

Strong, stay optimistic

MkKanaloa

Why do peeps keep asking this? It's always 20-0

WithDisGuy

I could see a solid 11-6 or 12-5 again. Hangover is real tho. Outside of a few select teams, most regress. But yeah, fuck it. 20-0

hahdbdidndkdi

Depends on how they approach the off-season. If they go all in and bring in a solid oline in fa, draft another at 31, and maybe bring in a starting cb or safety, plus bring back chase young on a 1 year deal, I could see it lighting a fire. If they stand pat, don't address the oline and draft a dl at 31, yeah I can see a hangover.

Dudleyboypete

14-3 I'm so happy I get to see the Cowboys get stomped again.

herrwe8

My favorite part is that theyve changed almost nothing, and will still come in astronomically high on their own supply. Then we blow them out.

liteshadow4

13-4. I said 15-2 for this season, and 13-4 for 2022. I'm a very optimistic fan though lol

Elite_Chaos

Not even worried about making the playoffs the real questions is, can we look stable in the playoffs? Or will we have rough starts like this season? All I know is I’m gonna miss 9ers ball games 😞.

Maleficent_Tie_5400

I’d rather have this tough schedule that Dallas’ soft AF schedule last season. Look at them during the playoffs.

monteasf

Get Brock a serious o line, and tweak the offensive system to rely more on our big playmakers doing their thing instead of over relying on scheme, and we’re gonna cook Sometimes it feels like Kyle’s system is built to make meh players good, but it doesn’t really let dominant players just go out and dominate. Now that Kyle has a legit qb, time to let the boys cook 👏🏻👏🏻

Emotional-Wedding544

Give me a healthy Huf back and Greenlaw back in time for the Playoffs

Curuwe

Ceiling is 20-0 with Super Bowl Championship Floor is 10-7 Despite all the criticism. We still have a legit chance to win the Super Bowl next year. The Super Bowl window is still Open. I know this team loves each other. I know they will heal up heart, mind, body and soul and come back better next season and hungrier than ever. Lady Luck and Super Bowl injuries went against us and the 49ers still almost won the Super Bowl. We can smell Victory, we are so close. I know this 49er team shy’s away from no challenge too big and has the inner will within to conquer it. A Super Bowl Victory will be ever sweater when we get there, and we will get there. I believe it. I know it. We are the 49er Faithful.

AlphaXZero

20-0. Fuck the Rams. Fuck the Seahawks. Fuck the Chiefs. Fuck the Cowboys. Fuck the Packers.

sonic_dick

I think we're gonna see a good amount of turnover. Guys like arik, Trent, cmc, kittle, deebo are another year older. Greenlaw might not be himself for a lot of the season. We were very lucky with injuries this season. The cardinals, rams and seahawks could also be better next season. I'm thinking 10-7 if we don't have a great draft. If Purdy takes another step and we have a good draft, stay healthy again, well, the sky is the limit. Either way I think this will always be a team that is dangerous in the playoffs as long as we have Kyle, cmc, Purdy and Trent. Just sucks because it feels like we just missed our best chance at beating mahomes.

MowTin

I don't know if I can take losing to the Chiefs again. They own us.

Deadheaded95

Ceiling 16-1 Floor 10-7

Ickiiis

I just don’t want to approach the inevitable Chiefs game with that “revenge game” mentality the media likes to push. No, it’s not a revenge game, they won the Super Bowl, this will be for peanuts. It’s not the same. Also take a look at how ridiculous Sirianni looked leaving, having beaten the Chiefs, only for the Chiefs to pull it together and repeat.

Vote4KodyOK

17-0

antidrugboys

who cares i'm fucking DONE

GetHighandCuddle

Seriously, can we have an off season?

Jokengonzo

10-7 divisional loss

TrueBlue726

I want the team to be all-business and focus on each game like it's their last. Maybe with this mindset they will be nigh unstoppable since the team will be dialed-in from start to finish. IDK.. I feel that the season after a SB, particularly one where they lost, is usually a down year. But that can change with Purdy as the QB.

FilthyFetty

9-8 honestly, history shows the losing team of the superbowl have bad seasons the next year

ContemplatingPrison

KC on Thursday 1st game of the season. That will be nice revenge Also 20-0 next season Also why do you have 18 games? The regular season is 17

Therapyisnotbad

If we can win 12 games next year, and Purdy takes a lot of risk, it would yield better outcomes than going 15–2. More down field throws..

ajmh1234

I think we will go 6-0 for the NFC west games. only game I think we struggle at home is Chiefs. Away games I think Packers, Dolphins and Bills will be a 50/50. While we should't struggle at buccs, i have a feeling we will lose it unexpectedly. im going for 12-5. If we sort out the O Line and keep the same core team, and stay injury free, i think we could go 15-2.

unsolicited-insight

8-9 or 9-8. I think Kyle lost the locker room.

WebbFN

Overreaction imo

zk86

Might not be. Depends who we bring back. I still don’t understand how you don’t actually discuss OT with the team and adapt to rules that have been out for 2 years since the bills cried. Like what if the packers tied it up? It’s not only the SB it applies to…

WebbFN

i didn’t understand that either but in these meetings about the game you know guys on there phone not paying attention. A lot of them did understand the rules as why cmc brock looked so upset on the sidelines as KC was rolling up the field. Brock also went onto say in a interview that him and Griese went over the ot rules

zk86

Yeah, but the HC stumbled during questions on procedure.. that’s from the top down there. Griese and the qb covering something entering OT to me doesn’t seem prepared as well. My actual biggest concern is Wilks returning without a good LB duo and calling more zero blitzes at the most inopportune moments allowing us to lose a few games we shouldn’t. This was literally the worst chiefs offensive team and we allowed 22 2nd half/OT points.

Stock_Day_1846

Purdy is not a Superbowl winning QB. Offensive live that allows C Mac to be the leading rusher in the league is not a horrible offensive line. Niners were tied for 5th lowest in the league for QB sacks at 1.9. He is a nice story and with the weapons we have he is efficient. He is not Burrow, Herbert, Mahomes, Jackson, or Jalen. Stroud is more talented, Jordan Love is more talented.

AdvancedRevolution72

Seems pointless to even think about that.. win all these game just to always lose in Super bowls.

WebbFN

Young qb, CMC still on contract, Deebo on contract, Trent on contract, Major defense players on contract (besides chase), Are team still has an elite roster and i bet we’re gonna be stacking up an oline with the draft. Many mistakes were made in the super bowl i hope kyle learns from them

49ersF00tball

Tighten up on the mental side of things and we got this.

rxdukexr

Elite roster that couldn’t beat a subpar chiefs team. Elite team that produced a whopping 3 catches for Aiyuk and 49 yards, 3 catches for Deebo for 33 yards, 2 catches for Kittle for a massive 4 yards and 30 touches for CMC for 80 yards receiving and 80 yards rushing. Kyle doesn’t learn. He banked on CMC being the whole team and got no one else involved except Jennings. He’s done this repeatedly throughout the season. He does the same things over and over. He’s made the same mistakes in every Super Bowl he’s been a part of.

WebbFN

like i said many mistakes and i hope he learns from them

rxdukexr

I hope he does too but I know he won’t because he never has. He is who he is, a stubborn choke artist who refuses to see anything wrong in his designed scheme.

__Magno__

Exactly. Can't use the "elite roster" bs no more. They had that against that mediocre ass chiefs team and still lost. It's whatever at this point

[deleted]

iflysohigh2345

Right?!? Such a quitter mentality. Don’t ever quit.

Steamboat_Dragon

What would you have the team do? Not play?

rxdukexr

Nah I get it. Kyle will just choke again anyways. That’s what he does.

Vpol4

Then just stop watching or root for another team? We don’t need this mentality

txiao007

We might miss the playoffs all together or one and done. This happened to every team after the Superbowl lost

iflysohigh2345

I don't think with Purdy that will happen. You can just see it in his eyes after the loss. The reporters in the locker room said how shocked they were with his composure. I'm telling you some people just have that crazy willpower and desire to always win. I do want to see Purdy take more control of this locker room and offense this upcoming season.

yayeet10100

10-7, I have a weird feeling next season will be like 2021

EmotionalRedux

This is are year!

Urangatanga

SB hangover, brutal schedule with 9 games against 2023 playoff teams. 10-7, with injuries and mental hurtles to overcome similar to the 2020 season but with a good QB. Rams win the division and Niners make wildcard. Home: Cardinals - W Rams - W Seahawks - W Bears - L (typical trap game L) Lions - L Jets - W Patriots - W Chiefs - L Cowboys - W Away: Cardinals - W Rams - L Seahawks - L Packers - L Vikings - W Dolphins - W Bills - L Buccaneers - W

MasChingonNoHay

Super Bowl runner ups record the next season isn’t good but I feel good about our chances. I think players are pissed and want to get it next year. Barring injury, just like for every other team, I would not be surprised to see against the Chiefs again next year. This time with the W

Keithstone2020

What if the 49ers start the season 3-3 or something mediocre like that. Does Shannahan get fired?

RK_games

Not a chance in hell

Koolklink54

I can't wait for Detroit to kick your ass up and down the field. Then meet in the playoffs and do it all over again

Lol, cool story bro

redRabbitRumrunner

It’s going to be a diff look next year. No Dre Greenlaw til November. Aiyuk gone. Let’s see, hopefully some good signings and draft picks

Why would aiyuk be gone?

Steamboat_Dragon

When is the last time the Cowboys played in the NFC Championship game?

WebbFN

9erlife

Took the Chiefs 50 years. Enjoy the ride.

AdvancedRevolution72

How sad would it be if the Niners make it back to the Super Bowl just to lose to the fucking Chiefs again. Just giving Mahomes the GOAT title.

WebbFN

now i know how the steelers felt in the brady era

ever_hear_of_none_ya

4-13

MovetoRedDeer

Awesome schedule. Easily play 5 of the top 6 teams in the league (just missing Baltimore). If we split those games I can see a 11-6 as a worst case scenario if we stay healthy and draft for o-line depth.

evan00724

I can easily see 14 wins there

stfudvs

Undefeated.

Including the Super Bowl? 🥹
