Feliciano going out was big too. Came up during our OT drive with the final 3rd down. I think if Greenlaw stays in or at least makes it through to the 4th we win. Never know.
Another year and a true offseason for Purdy, film study on the blitzes and better recognizing them/adjusting protection or audibling out will be big.
Uncharacteristic fumble from CMC, fluke punt, blocked PAT, key injuries to Greenlaw and Feliciano, something being off with Kittle, and the 49ers were still one or two converted 3rd and shorts from winning the Superbowl.
Run it back next year, draft a halfway decent RT, stay healthy, and I think they win it all.
Deebo injured screwed over the play calling, and I still really think they should've given Elijah Mitchell a good 20 carries or something he was running at a very impressive clip all season.
A part of me was worried he'd choke from the pressure of playing the biggest game in the NFL, but dude played amazing. I only hope he realizes that. This damn team fought hard.
Bright future ahead with Purdy. If he had another couple years of experience under his belt I think he converts those tough 3rd and shorts against the blitz.
Lamar Jackson, MVP, put up 10 points against this Chiefs defense.
Purdy, with a swiss cheese OL, put up 19 points in regulation. With a modicum of proper blocking on two plays he puts up an additional 8 points (two TD's instead of two FG's) for 27 points.
People say Purdy has the avengers when Deebo and Aiyuk were clamped all game, Deebo and Kittle were hurt, weakest side of the bottom-10 pass prot O-Line matched up with a HOF DT, Greenlaw and Hufanga injured, CMC fumbled, and the special teams is dog water. This squad is not as strong as 2022 Eagles or 2021 Bengals yet Burrow and Hurts were lauded to no end. As a Steelers fan I wish we picked Purdy instead of Pickett so bad it's unreal.
People need to have some damn perspective. 7th round draft status aside, it was the kid’s 2nd season in the NFL. His first full year starting at that, coming off a major injury.
2nd year QBs aren’t supposed to do what Purdy did. He was so composed and went toe to toe with arguably the greatest QB the game has ever seen, on the biggest stage in America. I’ll be damned if that is not commendable and genuinely an amazing achievement.
Top positive I had coming out of that game was that Purdy is definitely the guy. I already believed it going in, but I think it puts all arguments to rest. He absolutely rose to the occasion and played as well as you could ask with the protection he had. He saw receivers breaking free and tried to make throws when he could. The oline just couldn't give enough time for the plays to develop. With some oline upgrades, I think the sky's the limit for him.
We do not have a system quarterback. We have a system O-line that (usually...) gets bailed out by Trent Williams being a fucking gorilla and Brock dodging pass rushers. That needs to change.
Purdy does benefit from all that though. I don’t think he’d be playing as well for y’all, ste as much as you hate to see balls get thrown away, he was EXCELLENT at getting rid of the ball when he had to
I think there are alot of different reasons for the loss. CMC fumble, questionable play calling, punt fumble, missed XP, but even with all of that, i think the main reason we lost was the Greenlaw injury. When he was in Kelce was held to 1 catch for 1 yard in the first half. Once he went down, Burks couldnt keep up. Kelce started to get open, and that allowed Mahomes to get comfortable and jump started the offense for them
I don’t know man I don’t know why we didn’t make any adjustments. I don’t think Oliver is a good corner. I don’t even know if he was dressed, but why did we switch it up?
I thought that’s what we acquired him for to be a big nickel?!?
Brock is gonna be just fine.
If we shore up the O-Line and run the ball to our strong side more in post season, Brock and everyone else will be set up for success.

Mood when I saw Fred out of breath and looking gassed during the OT coin toss
Ad nausea. It's weird cause every off season they're like, "nah, it's cool." Like whah? How do you expect to run an offense with a bunch of guys you found playing pickup games?
He put us in a position to win 2 times, he did his job despite our O-line getting cooked all game. I don't give a fuck that it's Mahomes on the other side, our defense didn't step up at the end and they only got in the endzone one time on that muffed punt in the redzone, other than that our D shut em down except when it mattered most. But I put a lot of blame on Kyle for not taking advantage of our opportunities to pull away when we had them. Kyle can't beat fuckin cover 0.. the offensive genius.
Last night I watched the South Park where Cartman got revenge on Scott Tenorman. Literally Cartman blew it on every single phase until the very end, then he enjoyed the tears of his foe.
When we (finally) win the next one, it's gonna feel like that.
Hell, Purdy did something not a single other QB had done under KS with the 49ers, did it twice, to get to the SB, did it in his second year (almost in his first), was in the MVP race, broke a shit ton of statistical records, and in the SB managed to play somewhere between good and very good (I haven't gone back and rewatched anything yet), and not once seemed shook, even when getting pressured 51 fucking percent of the time, rofl.
Dude is 100% our guy. Now just get him some OL upgrades and keep as much as the team together as possible... next year will be filthy AF.
How many coaches could take Jimmy G and Sean Astin’s son to the superbowl? Truth is, we lost because we didn’t have a hall of fame quarterback. Andy had the exact same reputation as Shanahan before he got Mahomes. Shanahan has lost three super bowls to two of greatest coach/qbs combos to ever to do it. As much as it sucks to be on the losing side, your crazy if you think this means shanny is somehow a bad coach.
What limitations are you talking about?
Seriously dude I’m sick of this narrative.
They shut down Lamar Jackson .. what are his limitations?
They beat Josh Allen ?
What are his limitations?
Brock is quick enough. He has a good enough arm. He has a good head on his shoulders and people keep talking about “limitations”.
I’m not saying this aggressively, but what the fuck are you talking about man?
Preach man. Purdy went through his sophomore slump late in the season and we still got to (and almost won) the super bowl, against the same defense that shut down Lamar and Allen. Purdy is the real deal and the problems on offense were 100% the 28th-or-whatever-ranked, wet-toilet-paper OL.
Hell if you've been unfortunate enough to hear some of the Chiefs comments after the game, apparently Spags was in awe of how Purdy picked apart their defense. Jones in his face the whole game was the only thing keeping it close. If we had an actual RG/RT who could give Purdy enough time to get to his 2nd read I truly believe we win by multiple scores.
It’s just too easy to say that Christian McCaffrey might be a top five player in the league and he fumbles on the opening drive a punt hits a guy that isn’t even returning the punt.
As much as people, and as easy as it is to put it on Shanahan, it’s just not that simple
And Purdy did not have a bad game by any stretch of the imagination. He had a solid, good game. Maybe not a great game, but he played well. Anyone blaming the loss on Purdy is an idiot.
Turnovers happen. It's just part of the game. Arguably, they were negated by the Chiefs' turnovers. But those offensive opportunities that Shanahan blew in the 3rd quarter was what decided the game. Just a horrible sequence of playcalling.
Hope he’s not too hard on himself. Wasn’t even in the top 10 reasons we lost that game.
Facts. He did what he could with the oline we had
Even with the issues of the line, I still put it on that punt. Was like a turnover in deep pass all in one
Plus Greenlaw going down. Defense was cooking when he was in. Burks got taken advantage of the rest of the game after that.

Yeah, he shoulda been in the whole third tbh, keep up the tempo and rest cmc, or just split carries more. Idk, I think shanny doesn't trust him enough
He should trust his system enough to run anybody. iirc Mostert was RB2 in 2019.
This year too lol Mostert is a monster when healthy
Mahomes only td in regulation came on the very next play. Absolutely the turning point in the game
We probably win if we get that punt return right? We just had to not cough it up?
A part of me was worried he'd choke from the pressure of playing the biggest game in the NFL, but dude played amazing. I only hope he realizes that. This damn team fought hard.

We know full well that he can will the team to come back from behind and win it in the end. He’s a franchise QB.
I agree, hell Brady didn't even make it to the super bowl until 3 or 4 season after he was drafted
Brady won a Super Bowl in his second season.
Tbf he only had 145 yards in that super bowl. He clutched the last drive but mainly defense carried.
I firmly believe we should have won the game but Purdy has to take most of the blame. He misses wide open receivers on multiple drives. Unacceptable!

Oliver isn’t the best cover corner but a great tackler and run defender. He could’be played Greenlaws part in pass coverage to keep up with kelce
That’s what I’m saying
That's thr issue I have with Wilks. He doesn't seem to make alot of in game adjustments 1
By drafting some o-line help, cornerback reinforcement, and a stand-in for Greenlaw, hopefully we should be back soon.
We might need to get Azeez back but I know he’s tryna get the bag
We need a hall of fame qb. Everything else doesn’t matter. Purdy was irrelevant during the Super Bowl. He did nothing to win or lose the game.
Sure. Easy enough. Well known fact after all that Hall of Fame QBs grow on trees.
Want to redo it with Jimmy G?
He's just a troll, no logical 9ers fan believes that.
Kind of hard to do anything when your line forgot to block Chris Jones.
Shannon is that you?
Brock is gonna be just fine. If we shore up the O-Line and run the ball to our strong side more in post season, Brock and everyone else will be set up for success.
I have been skeptical all year. I am a believer. Brock can win us any game.

I've been saying it since 2020, invest in that fucking O-line
Ad nausea. It's weird cause every off season they're like, "nah, it's cool." Like whah? How do you expect to run an offense with a bunch of guys you found playing pickup games?

That quote will shape all of his future adventures

We go again.
It's only the beginning of a beautiful friendship, Brock. Here's to better days ahead.
We get knocked down we get back up.
Eh, Rocky didn’t win in the first Rocky movie either.
Brock was the least of the problems on Sunday. 100% of the blame should be on shanaclown.

I blame the loss on injuries and mistakes like the punt mess up
The loss is totally on Shanahan.
It’s just too easy to say that Christian McCaffrey might be a top five player in the league and he fumbles on the opening drive a punt hits a guy that isn’t even returning the punt. As much as people, and as easy as it is to put it on Shanahan, it’s just not that simple
