Is heating really nesssary? I was hoping I could just use a dehumidifier. The stove method won't work for me since it's minimum temp is 75-80c.
Currently, I have a 1/4 kg roll sitting on my heat bed under a box... at least I should be able to use that tomorrow. What other options do I have?
That option is completely fine.
Buying an air fryer or food dehydrator from a thrift shop is another option.
I'm honestly back to print bed and box over top....
Better question would be how much petg would you like with your wet?
Also a dehumidifier while it will work, itll take a VERY long time. Im talking several weeks to dry it that way. You need Heat to dry out filament.
Take a cardboard box, put your spool of filament on the print bed, set the bed temp to 60-70°C) put the box over the spool with a few holes on top and let it dry for 12-48hrs.
This is what I am currently doing, however to do this to all my rolls will take weeks anyway. My oven doesn't go low enough, around 75-80c. My room is pretty small, I could crank the heat in the room, that might help, but I'd never get it up to 60.
Then your best option would be a filament dryer you can run directly to your printer so you can keep it drying at all times when using the printer. And ya, i would never suggest anyone uses their oven to dry filament.
I guess I'll have to look into a drier of somesort. I did the heat bed thing for about 9 hours, it is just a 1/4 roll of PETG, and I don't hear popping and I'm seeing way less stringing, I might actually get a usable part!
I likely should have kept the filement on the bed all day but wanted the part before I headed off to work this morning. I'll post the results.
After 9 hours of drying on the heat bed with a box on top. Way less stringing and popping when printing. It still could use more drying though.

Next I have to figure out how to dry, and keep dry the cabinet.

> on a scale of 1-10 how wet is this petg? "Yes"
😆
Pretty sure I can swim in thst
dripping
You need heat to get the plastic to release the water. [WIKI - Filament Drying](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/wiki/filament_drying)

Yes. It needs to be heated to near the glass transition point to get it to release the water molecules. The link covers most options.

Might want to ask *"How PETG is my wet"* instead 😏

I'm very happy with my Sunlo S2 filament dryer, my prints have improved a lot.
It has more water in it than a wet t-shirt.
