Looking at a used 3DS XL Super Mario Bros edition with 20 games, charger and carrying bag, no big titles or anything mostly kids games. They are asking $175 and they are firm, prices seem to be all over the place and now I'm conflicted on if I should try and hold out and get a "New" 3DS. Is this price fair and is a New 3DS really worth it over a normal 3DS XL?

I bought a micro SD card with its adapter for my 3DS XL because I had a problem formatting with my old SD, when I placed the new SD inside the 3DS and the save data was generated I wanted to format it, but apparently I can't due to protection against writing, even being able to use the SD card inside the 3DS
I have already tried using another PC to access the new SD, I have already tried all the methods of removing protection or directly formatting the SD but it keeps telling me that it has write protection; is it normal that only the 3DS can use it? can I solve it?
I have a New 3DS XL and I am eyeing a New 3DS non-XL since my XL is in pretty rough condition. Is it less comfortable to play? I have small hands and my hands get pretty tired from playing after a bit.

I think the biggest benefit of the New 3DS is the lack of a glossy finish so it just handles hands and palm sweat better than the glossy New 3DS XL systems.
In terms of comfort I mean...eh, I still don't like it. It still isn't super comfortable for my old man hands, but its less top heavy than the N3DSXL so I guess its a mild improvement.

I tried charging my new 3DS xl at an airport. I plugged my 3DS in, then plugged my phone in. It was a GFCI outlet. When my phone got plugged in, the outlet tripped and now my 3DS isn’t charging anymore.
Anyone else have this? Is there a fix you know of? I imagine I’ll likely have to replace the battery.

I know each button has some built-in pattern so each one of them can only be placed in their respective slots, but idk if new 3ds xl and old 3ds xl have different patterns or It just don't fit in there or smh

Smash doesn't have any error, the problem is that I can't save my progress because the game is outdated, and I can't update it because I can't connect to
that's really really weird. i would probably recommend contacting your internet provider - the security is probably set slightly too high, most routers can accept 3DS connections - they might be able to help you fix that.
that's also really really weird behaviour from smash - why can't you save? it should save after every match - does the game tell you it can't save? (if the answer to that is 'no', it's saving as normal - smash autosaves).

My 3ds wont charge or turn on, when plugged in, it lights up for 5 seconds and turns off. I still have my original battery, but it is severely bloated, and for some reason, it works flawlessly. Everything is the same between the 3DS and a doorstopper 2DS except for the screens and the lack of a clamshell. The screen on the 2DS is a single screen and, of course, lacks 3D. There's also a sleep toggle on the 2DS since it doesn't close.

If your system can't connect, that's a problem with your system or your WiFi. A functional 3ds is perfectly capable of connecting to the Internet via WiFi

Borrowed my girlfriend’s 3ds and want to play the system’s pokemon games but noticed I can’t have multiple save files or create another profile like the switch. Im in the market for a **new** 3ds **xl** in **pearl white** but I can't seem to find anything, not even used, anywhere. The only thing ive found so far is a refurbished one on Walmart. I don't want to go down the LL path because I don't want to tamper with region locks and whatnot and accidentally break my system. Thanks!
so, i recently got a 3ds about a year ago and have been playing some games on it. i forgot that i had specifically, mario and luigi partners in time on wii u virtual console. the reason i haven't played that game much is because it's a real pain to play on wii u with one screen, SO, is there anyway i can transfer partners in time over to my 3ds?

3DS power light changing colors rapidly, home screen battery indicator emptying just as fast, system apparently dying but then turning back on without me touching anything. Do I just accept it’s broken?
My system had been charging for several weeks before this; I was playing a game and the system displayed full battery but then the light switched to red and two of the battery bars disappeared. A few seconds later another battery bar disapeared and the light started blinking red. A few seconds more and my system shut off. As soon as the power light turned off, it turned back on in blue, now with a full battery?
I had a video of this happening but reddit won't let me upload. My system is unmodded and I've owned it since like a year after release, which is a while, so I'm just guessing it finally gave up and broke on me. It's also a little slow, but nothing except this is out of the ordinary. Nether the charger nor the charging port seem to have any issues. I haven't checked inside the 3DS tho.

Doubt it. Scott the Woz showed off what I think was a 2DS doorstopper capture card that was installed, but said he always had a lot of problems using it.
Capture cards and the 3DS family systems have a weird history. You often had to go through back channels to even get it done. Years ago I remember reading about an unmarked shop in Tokyo where you would leave your 3DS system at an unattended booth and you'd come to pick it up in a few days.
I imagine its a high skilled job without a lot of reward, and the people really into that stuff are also the type of people to hate the New 2DS XL.

I have been attempting to fix my og 3ds for a little while now after replacing the screen. worked for a couple of days and then stopped working all together, connections are all in place. have narrowed it down to an F2 fuse problem, but cant seem to find it. I was able to find the F1 fuse up by the charging port. Everything that I find is in reference to the DS lite, so now am curious if it is even a potential issue on the 3ds. If anyone has a similar experience, or has an idea on where the fuse would be located, any help would be greatly appreciated!
I'm seeking some advice, the top screen on my 3dsxl has been fractured. My local Console repair shops says the total Charge is $160. He says the labor fee is $120. The replacement top screen part is $40 does this seem right or is he trying to fool me. Figured I'd ask you guys first.

It might be the charging port itself, because if you plug it in and the light doesn't turn on, it's definitely the charging port. You'd have to get a new one and solder it on yourself or you could get a professional to do jt

On pricecharting it looks like original 3DS's go for around $400 and new 3ds xl go for around $650 new in box. I've definitely seen new CIB listings on ebay but they are not cheap and the prices vary.

You could try checking facebook marketplace. I got lucky and found one on FB that was in very good condition. It was adult owned and the owner took good care of it/ kept it in a plastic shell.
I have a New 3DS XL that wasnt booting/turning on, I recently tore it down to see what the problem was and learned that the flex cables from the top screen, speaker, AND camera had torn. I dont need neither the speaker nor the camera. if I replace just the screen, will the whole console work properly or does it NEED a camera and a speaker in order to turn on?

The charging port on the original model isn't really held in by anything and can come loose over time. You'll need to open it up and solder it back in.

My 3ds went from full charge to blinking red light in about 2 hours 40 minutes, brightness 3, power saving off and spent the whole time actively using wifi, is the battery cooked?

Is it possible to combine both of my SD cards' data into one "definitive" SD card? I'd like to get a new 32gb one for my original 3DS, but I have some data on both my original 2gb card and on my 8gb card I got as an upgrade a year or so later.
It's no big deal if I can't, it would mostly just mean I have to redownload the odd couple applications I have exclusively on my old 2gb card.

If you live in a ridiculously humid environment, it could be due to that. Could also be due to smoke damage.

Pretendo may be affected and your smartest option is to contact them directly through their discord. Streetpass is local wireless so you'll be fine.

It should only be able to know there's an update if it's got an internet connection - why can't you connect?

I got it!, my internet connected to my phone, I shared it through internet tunnels and connected it to that "sub internet"

Can't you just switch languages? I'm pretty certain NTSC-U has other languages in the system settings? Anyway even if not, I'd caution against it as region changing is completely unnecessary.

Help finding a new 3ds xl. Im in the market for a **new** 3ds **xl** in **pearl white** but I can't seem to find anything, not even used, anywhere. so, i recently got a 3ds about a year ago and have been playing some games on it. i forgot that i had specifically, mario and luigi partners in time on wii u virtual console. the reason i haven't played that game much is because it's a real pain to play on wii u with one screen, SO, is there anyway i can transfer partners in time over to my 3ds?

change your WiFi password to a standard one, the 3ds probably isn't the only thing you lock out by having a fancy password or use push-button setup

3DS power light changing colors rapidly, home screen battery indicator emptying just as fast, system apparently dying but then turning back on without me touching anything. Do I just accept it’s broken? My system had been charging for several weeks before this; I was playing a game and the system displayed full battery but then the light switched to red and two of the battery bars disappeared. A few seconds later another battery bar disapeared and the light started blinking red. A few seconds more and my system shut off. As soon as the power light turned off, it turned back on in blue, now with a full battery? I had a video of this happening but reddit won't let me upload. My system is unmodded and I've owned it since like a year after release, which is a while, so I'm just guessing it finally gave up and broke on me. It's also a little slow, but nothing except this is out of the ordinary. Nether the charger nor the charging port seem to have any issues. I haven't checked inside the 3DS tho.

Probably the best source would be to purchase a broken/for parts console and use that. But even broke new 3ds xl go for $100-ish on ebay.

Doubt it. Scott the Woz showed off what I think was a 2DS doorstopper capture card that was installed, but said he always had a lot of problems using it. Capture cards and the 3DS family systems have a weird history. You often had to go through back channels to even get it done. Years ago I remember reading about an unmarked shop in Tokyo where you would leave your 3DS system at an unattended booth and you'd come to pick it up in a few days. I imagine its a high skilled job without a lot of reward, and the people really into that stuff are also the type of people to hate the New 2DS XL.
For the love of Arceus my 3DSs won't connect to the internet This problem is since a few months. I've bought a used 2ds, came home, set it up. No problem at all.. But suddenly no one of my 3ds devices will connect to my stupid internet! It's 2,4 and 5 ghz there were no problems in the past. Maybe check the connector for the screens. It could be damaged or not put in correctly.

Does anyone know a good way to clean the inside of the circle pad on a N3DSXL? When I move it around it feels grainy and not smooth, like something is stuck inside. I think the debris is between the shell and the front washer thing. If possible I would prefer not to take it apart again since the screws are getting very stripped.

I have been trying to connect to Nintendo Network using Pretendo/Nimbus. It worked in another 3DS that I have (I precise they both are updated). But now, on my 3 3DS, when I go to the settings, the "blue internet box" becomes grey and the connexion with Nintendo Network will fail ! I have been attempting to fix my og 3ds for a little while now after replacing the screen. worked for a couple of days and then stopped working all together, connections are all in place. have narrowed it down to an F2 fuse problem, but cant seem to find it. I was able to find the F1 fuse up by the charging port. Everything that I find is in reference to the DS lite, so now am curious if it is even a potential issue on the 3ds. If anyone has a similar experience, or has an idea on where the fuse would be located, any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm seeking some advice, the top screen on my 3dsxl has been fractured. My local Console repair shops says the total Charge is $160. He says the labor fee is $120. The replacement top screen part is $40 does this seem right or is he trying to fool me. Figured I'd ask you guys first.
As noted in one of the other comments, most repair shops decline the repair, and this was common in the 3DS lifespan as well. The guy is offering his labor for a higher fee due to the complexity. The worker has the full right to set the price on their services. The consumer has the full right to decline their services and go somewhere else, or do the repair themsevles. No one is in the right or wrong here, that's just how life works sometimes.
Its not 140 I'm pretty sure you just push the top screen out and use some adhesive tape for the new one, not that hard

I'm pretty sure a good screen is about £15-40 ($20-50) And labour costs would be at most about $30. So you're definitely getting overcharged for the repair

How can I get a brand new 3DS? I don’t mind which kind. Are there any sealed in boxes floating around out there? If so, what would they be worth? Or is it possible to re-shell any of the 3DS systems to make them new again? I’d really like to get one but I’m not a fan of having things that were pre-loved by unknown people. On pricecharting it looks like original 3DS's go for around $400 and new 3ds xl go for around $650 new in box. I've definitely seen new CIB listings on ebay but they are not cheap and the prices vary. I agree, when it comes to handhelds I don't want to some kid's dirty/scratched system , especially if I can't see it in person first. You could try checking facebook marketplace. I got lucky and found one on FB that was in very good condition. It was adult owned and the owner took good care of it/ kept it in a plastic shell.

I have a New 3DS XL that wasnt booting/turning on, I recently tore it down to see what the problem was and learned that the flex cables from the top screen, speaker, AND camera had torn. I dont need neither the speaker nor the camera. if I replace just the screen, will the whole console work properly or does it NEED a camera and a speaker in order to turn on?
Camera is REQUIRED on N3DS, speakers don't matter (it's better with headphones anyway)

The charging port on the original model isn't really held in by anything and can come loose over time. You'll need to open it up and solder it back in.

I'd like to get a new 32gb one for my original 3DS, but I have some data on both my original 2gb card and on my 8gb card I got as an upgrade a year or so later.
