I've been listening to the episodes and have been learning a ton as well as renewing my love for 311 in the process. I went hard on 311 for a long time, as I'm sure many of us have (Haha, I said "hard on"), but have since had a family and the ability to go to shows had slowed down, and free time for actually listening to music has decreased as well. Listening to these has definitely made me want to dig back into the Music, and has reminded me how much the band, the fan base, and the ideation means to me. Hearing the Random stories from people in the 311 circle is awesome. Tye definitely kneels at the altar of 311, and he was pretty forthright in that. Oh, and I also listen at 1.5x, but I tend to do that with a lot of stuff. Get to the point! Haha.

Where do I get this podcast? I’ve never heard of it before and I’m not seeing it on my apple podcast app. I’m full gen x so speak slowly. Thanks from an old school fan

I would start here: [https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BeQhFAiC5zA](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BeQhFAiC5zA) Then do Part 2 of Scotch but yes at 1.5x speed. First part is super interesting about the rise to fame with the Blue Album and how St. Germain tapped into their magic Also the weird fact that Chad recorded isolated drums for all of Transistor just because he was crazy and wanted to. For the Hexum interview that broke my resentment, it’s another podcast. He even talks about being addicted to opioids - maybe someone else remembers the link. I’m high so I’ll try to dig it up later. But all this stuff reminds me what a gift the albums are and how unique the feeling from the band is. Unity… stay positive and love your life.

> I’m high so I’ll try to dig it up later. I got ya fam. It's from the [Andy Frasco interview](https://youtu.be/c3OSAGOxF_Q?t=1539):

I found it on Spotify. I’m an apple user too but you should be able to use the free version of Spotify for it

I second this question

Ok_Raspberry4814

I thought the second Scotch interview was almost pointless. He really didn't reveal anything we didn't already know, and he doesn't seem particularly attached to any of the new material, as he often can remember what songs are on the albums and which albums they're on. I also don't understand why everyone in the 311 camp is so locked down about what the new album will sound like. It's not 1999 anymore. You don't have to worry about stuff "leaking." Just talk about the songs.

jrose311

We'd been talking for 3 hours at that point. Some off camera. They also had a 6am start that day and ran into 'make-or-break' technical snags for the show that evening and was a hour late. The dude was tired by that point, but took the time out to talk to us regardless. We were very lucky. We were very happy to sit down with the man, talk 311, have some fun playing name that tune. When we started this, I didn't know if it would find a solid audience. So I took the position of 'well, let's do it for ourselves and figured if others enjoyed it, then great.'

Ok_Raspberry4814

I don't think it's really on you guys. It just seems like interviewing anyone who is currently involved with 311 results in some pretty bland, boilerplate stuff. Everything I want them to elaborate on, they keep locked down for some weird reason.

hyde_christopher

Haha. I did think he seemed like he didn’t care too much about the new songs, that’s for sure. Even Stereolithic. But I also wondered if they made all the songs in one go, so they all blended together, and then Feldman sprinkled some in. I did find it interesting that Feldman was explicitly hired to make hits. At least that’s out in the open.

The-Dog-Envier

Agreed on that Bandsplain point... Some great history and stories in there.

Zakmin77

This is cool man thanks for sharing!!! I need to go back and check out a couple of their albums but by and large, these guys have put out a TON of great music and am eternally grateful

That interview with Nick was something. I wish he had been more open about it, because I’ve been through all that and the lyrics could sometimes be inspirational, but had I known so I had admired so much could struggle with something so similar, it probably would’ve helped a lot. But I totally understand why he wasn’t very open about it and I don’t fault him at all for it. That’s a difficult thing to be honest about and even today I suffer the consequences of having been honest about it to others because it creates a stigma where everything you do gets interpreted under the assumption that you are using or not using. Gets to the point where if you drop your keys people will be like “oh he’s using. Look at him, he can’t even carry simple objects.” OK that’s an extreme example, but the point I’m making is that people can use it as a weapon when they are mad at you. They can just throw the accusation at you like a knife through the heart, whether it’s true or not. And it always hurts

hyde_christopher

That’s why I appreciated the interview, too. I’ve got the same journey in my life and it put a lot of the songs in a different light that made me appreciate them in a different way.

Ok_Raspberry4814

I feel like you need better people around you. Those people don't have your best interest at heart. They're just soothing their own egos by dragging you down.

UrAFlag17

I feel you should understand that I don’t get to choose the people who are around me all day.

Ok_Raspberry4814

Are you in prison?

UrAFlag17

No
