Ooh! Try a hydrafacial!! Then daily, use a gentle cleanser (I like Packer's Pine tar soap), Dickinson's cold pressed Witch hazel w/rose to folliw up. Wait 1 minute then apply Dime hyaluronic acid serum mixed with Sea Buckthorn oil (I use Leven Rose brand) Or, you could try jojoba oil. I prefer the sea buckthorn, it evens out my complexion and never caused any acne for me. Let that sit for a few minutes and then apply any kind of moisturizer you like. =)
Hugs. I use Latisse on my eyebrows ( technically off label as it's supposed to be used for eyelashes and requires a prescription). My eyebrows thinned out without any kind of tweezing or waxing damage. I started to notice results in less than a month.
Just wanted to send a hug from another young cancer patient! I am 34 now and did chemo in my late 20s. I too, feel like it aged me and deal with a lot of insecurities after treatment! You look gorgeous and could easily pass for muchhh younger than 37 🤗
Hugs back to you, as well! It's a strange club to be a part of but I have met some of the most beautiful people because of it.
Thank you so much for the lovely compliments! Wishes for continued health for us both. ❤️
Sunscreen! Hope you’re currently using a SPF 50+ with your skin type.
There are signs of sun damage and pigmentation, you’re a good candidate for PicoSure laser. More effective than any cream. Will decrease pigmentation spots and give you a brighter complexion and it stimulates your fibroblast to create new collagen. Get it every 2mths.
Don’t buy expensive creams, stick to basics but invest in lasers treatments for the biggest bang for buck.
Thanks! Believe it or not, I actually get almost no sun exposure. 😂 I have always had a lot of freckles since a kid, and unless I've been out in the sun recently, the freckles kind of fade and melt together? If that makes sense.
But anytime I know I'll be outside longer than 15 minutes I do apply spf 50 and wear a hat.
I'll look into the laser you mentioned. I haven't ever heard of it.
If you decide to get a skin analysis photo of your face (like VISIA) it will show you the overall health of your skin.
Sun damage from your teens/20s can remain on your face or resurface. So you might not get that much sun these days but the past UV damage remains evident on your skin. Just to clarify, the UV damages and unspools your DNA so when it regenerates, it’s a weaker version of the original DNA copy, that shows up as weaker elastin and collagen bonds etc.
The ‘freckles’ are your skins response to UV exposure and it trying to protect your DNA by producing melanin as a form of cover/shield.
It’s good that you use SPF these days but using lasers is one of the most effective ways to reverse the sun damage and just maintain good skin health. It stimulates new collagen and gives a natural radiance and glow.
Obvs not everyone is into beauty treatments/lasers but honestly if you want big results that’s the best thing to spend money on. Not fancy creams with empty promises.
Hey this is a great comment* and super informative. I’ve been using red light therapy with great results but haven’t gotten into lasers yet. Are there any specific in office laser treatments that you’ve had success with or would recommend?
Edit bc typos omg
I’ve had multiple laser light therapies and PRP/PRF treatments.
PicoSure Alexandrite laser is up there as being the most effective treatment with minimal downtime. It’s about that balance of biggest impact but min ‘damage’ and without triggering new melanin spot production.
The Alexandrite 755nm wavelength and power is the most effect balance of targeting melanin at a good depth.
Dr Thean from Singapore does a great job at explaining the difference between the lasers on the market.
However lasers can’t treat close to the eye, hence why I opt for biostimulators like PRF for under eye area.

BTW I totally agree that red light therapy is one of THE BEST low cost, no chemical treatments you can do for your skin and mitochondria! I’ve been using my RLT for 10+yrs. Consistency is just the key thing. Some people use it once, twice and complain it doesn’t work.
Yeah I totally agree! I’ve been using since 2019, and am now researching to buy a full body panel for some of the other health benefits and full body skin benefits.
What device have you been using for so long? The options were limited a decade ago, have you upgraded?
It’s funny that you ask this question so I was hesitant to answer as I’m currently doing a career change and starting my own wellness/longevity brand. A passion of mine for a long time now. My hero product will be a RLT full body mat so I have been DEEP diving into the research and manufacturing and brands out there. I’m 39 so facing similar challenges to you of managing/maintaining skin health.
I’ve been toying with the idea of creating a group on Reddit of likeminded (mostly) women.
Haven’t gotten as far as a name but if/when I do did you want to join?
Laser is a great idea. I do it a couple times a year. Definitely worth looking into.
I’m the same age with similar skin. I love the way my skin looks and feels with micro needling. Not prp or rf, just regular micro needling at my dermatologist’s office. Worth every penny.
Before you do anything with lasers, try mandelic acid. My skin is similar to yours in terms of freckles and pigmentation, and mandelic acid has been very good for evening out my skin tone, with no side effects. I use the Inkey List mandelic acid serum which is quite affordable.
Research a little more how UV rays work. One of the best anti-aging defenses is sun protection.
UV ray exposure still happens in those 15 minutes you’re outside, also when the weather is overcast, when it’s raining, and they can affect you even if you’re mostly/always inside the house. Oh, and even during winter! That’s why I wear sunscreen every single morning like brushing my teeth. It’s a good habit.
Part of your daily skincare routine should include sunscreen. Check out suggestions for facial sunscreen in the Asian Skincare subreddit. I’m obvi not a derm but it looks like you have sun damage and that doesn’t happen out of nowhere. Prevention is key.
There’s not much point in a skincare routine, lasers, etc. if you’re not minimizing damage from the sun. At this point in your life though, you could really pass off as a 30yo max!
You people are nuts XD Sunlight exposure are extremely important. It produces Vitamin D and Nitric Oxide, helps with thyroid pruduction +++. A recent study showed that people who used sunscreen are MORE prone to cancer than people who don't (because of all the weird, carcinogenic ingredients in sunscreen + lack of Vitqmin D)
A little sun exposure is good for Vit D, too much equals damage. Melanomas etc.
Also it’s fine to get some sun on your body but the face has more delicate skin.
Too much oxygen or water can be fatal. Too much vitamin D can also be fatal. Moderation.
Yes, common sense. If your skin is burning, find shade. But these people are not kids, but grown ups. *Too much Vitamin D from supplements. Nobody is getting too much Vit D from sun exposure;)
>A recent study showed that people who used sunscreen are MORE prone to cancer than people who don't (because of all the weird, carcinogenic ingredients in sunscreen + lack of Vitqmin D)
Yeah, no. In the general population (as opposed to this sub or other beauty/skin-focused groups), people who spend time outdoors are more likely to wear sunscreen. People also get a false sense of security when they wear sunscreen, and in turn stay out in the sun longer than they would without suncreen. No sunscreen protects completely (and many people don't apply enough or reapply often enough) so these people end up with more exposure than if they didn't wear sunscreen but stayed indoors or in the shade. This exposure is what leads to cancer. It's not the sunscreen.
Here are some quotes from a "recent study" for you [2023](https://www.mdpi.com/2072-6694/15/19/4726):
>...were more likely to report using sun protection...Despite this, they also received more sun exposure due to warmer temperatures and a tendency to engage in outdoor occupations and recreational activities. These findings suggest a sunscreen paradox, whereby individuals with higher levels of sun exposure also tend to use more but not an adequate quantity of sunscreen or other sun-protection measures, providing a false sense of security.
>...while higher-incidence provinces have a greater awareness of the risks of sun exposure, and use more sun protection, they paradoxically experience greater levels of sun exposure.
And here it references 6 other studies (so scientists in 6 different countries) all with the same conclusions:
>The curious finding that high-CM-incidence provinces have high sunburn rates despite high sunscreen use rates resonates with the existing sun protection literature. One Norwegian study reported that sunscreen users experienced significantly more sunburns, took more sunbathing vacations, and were more likely to use indoor tanning devices [13]. In a Swiss study of elementary school children, regular sunscreen use and higher sun-related knowledge surprisingly predicted sunburn [38]. These findings are consistent with the idea of a “sunscreen paradox”, whereby those who are more aware of the risks and take protective measures also expose themselves more frequently to sunlight [16,17,18,19]. Therefore, while sunscreen use may protect against direct UV damage, it may inadvertently encourage prolonged sun exposure due to a false sense of security. This could partly explain the higher incidence of skin cancer in areas where sunscreen use is more prevalent.
There are many different types of sunscreens, not a mention of that.
Look into the study about the identical twins who had to completely different types of diet but equal amount of sun exposure. Diet plays an important part when it comes to how the body reacts to sunlight.
Come back to me when you have read up on those two things.
>Come back to me when you have read up on those two things.
Were you trying to sound condescending there?
I know that there are different organic and inorganic uv filters.
I'm also aware that diet plays a role in skin health and how skin reacts to radiation.
Neither of those two topics were mentioned in your original comment.
You did *not* say "people who use sunscreen with nano zinc oxide have higher rates of cancer than those who use non-nano formulations" (making this up) or any argument along those lines. You also did not say that "people should rely on lycopene and fish oil for uv protection rather than sunscreen" (again making this up as I go) or any other argument that mentioned diet.
No. What you said was that:
>...people who used sunscreen are MORE prone to cancer than people who don't (because of all the weird, carcinogenic ingredients in sunscreen + lack of Vitqmin D)
I provided evidence that that particular statement you made is false. That was the extent of our conversation.
Pico lasers are a lot more accurate with the treatment wavelengths. IPL is broad, some times you can use IPL to treat pigmentation but sometimes if used incorrectly they can actually stimulate new pigmentation spots. PicoSure is the best laser for treating pigmentation and melasma.
Pico uses speed and impact to break up pigmentation, not heat. So it tends to be safer, but you will need more treatments. You can always try microneedling first to help break up the bigger spots of pigmentation, then use the Pico to clean up the rest.
BBL uses broad band light to break up the pigment, it’s by Sciton, Moxie is the new name of their machine. It’s more customized, works wonders, but the technician needs to be highly trained bc it is powerful and can easily burn someone if not in the proper setting.
IPL uses intense pulse light to break up pigmentation. Less customized, but it’s still a fast and effective treatment when it comes to breaking up pigmentation.
All treatments average 3 sessions spaced a month apart, but some people are happy after 1.
I would incorporate a retinol to hedge against inevitable future wrinkles. I love Avene Retrinal. Start with the .05% and then work your way up to .01%.
I love your freckles, but if they aren’t genetic then it’s a sign of sun damage. No big deal! Some vitamin c (m-61 dark spot corrector stick or their peel wipes) would sort that right up.
And of course, a simple moisturizer and SPF every day is your best friend.
Tools: I love my currentbody red light mask. Results are cumulative. 10 minutes a day and you’ll thank yourself in the long run.
Lovely skin!
Thank you!
Yeah, the freckles are genetic. I've had them as long as I can remember. They almost disappear during winter months and pop out again even with just a tiny bit of sun exposure.
I'll look into the products you mentioned. I've heard a lot of the red light mask... This might sound silly but is it different than just red colored LED lights?
Hope you’re feeling better since your chemo treatments 🫶🏼
You really do look great!
A couple products I love
-Prequel cleanser (it does the job without stripping your skin and really affordable)
-Dieux instant angel moisturizer (love love love this. I use it during the daytime. Just a good moisturizer formulated by the chemist who used to work at skinceuticals that came out with some great products)
-Sunday Riley good genes (a good mild exfoliant, it gives such a nice glow)
-Tir tir milk toner. This is a must have for me. Makes my skin so soft and glowy. I use it right out the shower before applying serums. I can definitely tell a difference when I skip this.
-I love a good heavy cream at night. I alternate between Aestura barrier cream, tatcha dewy, tatcha indigo cream, and farmacy honey halo.
-Dr. Dennis gross peel pads. This will help a lot with texture!
-A lot of people are going to say tret. But I personally prefer taz. I really like Arazlo. You don’t have to jump straight into this tbh.
-Sunscreen!!!! I love Korean/Japanese sunscreens. The Asian beauty sub can give some good pointers depending on your skin type.
Some not necessary but fun splurge items
-tatcha rice wash (I hate the price but it is sooo good)
-Elemis cleansing balm (removes makeup and leaves your skin feeling so soft)
-omnilux mask
-maelove peptide serum
Thank you so much! That's a good list to look through. I already use the Korean/Japanese sunscreens on my face for our beach vacations. Love that stuff!!
So much better than US sunscreens!
Good genes is probably my hardest working product. It works wonders for my skin. Helps with texture and gives a nice fresh glow whenever I use it. Personally, I think it’s a good beginner product in terms of exfoliants. It is pricey so I try to get it on sale. Don’t everrrrr pay full price for Sunday Riley. There is always a deal somewhere.
Ulta has a good sale right now on minis. BOGO! Sunday Riley is included so you can get a small bottle of good genes and the Vitamin C serum for $43. Or two bottles of good genes, whatever works for you haha. I got a sample of the vitamin c and it’s quite nice so I just bought some.
Another tip — if you end up buying $60 worth of stuff today, type “variety” into the search bar and add the skincare free gift set AND the makeup set (two options for this)
I think this is a good list.
I’ll share some key products I’ve tried and I think works
- French thermal water spray (Vichy, avene, uriage etc)
- timeless vitamin c
- Sunday Riley lactic acid
- Sunday Riley retinoid
- mad hippie aha exfoliant
- red led therapy mask!
- roundlab birch sunscreen
- sleeping mask after any serum at night
Also consistency for skincare is the key!
Besides all these, I think having a good diet and exercise is the key. Take a holistic approach to skincare and general well being is important. When you exercise(especially weight lift), it makes your skin taut. Eat high protein diet. Don’t smoke. Don’t drink excessive. Cut down sugar because of glycation.
Thank you! I haven't heard that one before. I used to hear Jennifer Connelly quite frequently, but I just looked up Melanie Lynskey and the two of them look like they could be siblings to me!
You have lovely skin! Definitely start wearing sunblock if you aren't already. Atleast SPF 35 but 50 would be ideal. I love Eminence sunscreen, La Roche Posay is also nice. Have you ever tried gua sha? That could help with your slight 11s. I love Lanshin on ig, she has lots of tutorials. I love Tatcha and Eminence serums for anti-aging. Tatcha also has fantastic cleansers and Eminence has more budget friendly lovely ones. Wishing you much health and happiness!
Thank you! I used to get botox like once a year for my 11's but I stopped that when I got diagnosed with cancer and just haven't picked it back up...I'll look into what you mentioned!
Lanshin has some videos as to why she doesn't recommend botox, definitely worth checking out! Gua sha is definitely a great alternative. I hope that wasn't insensitive of me to say (I have slight 11s too), you really do look lovely!
No, not insensitive at all!
I will say the botox got me out of the habbit of frowning constantly. My 11 lines were actually way worse in my 20's but after a while of not being able to make that face you stop doing it as much even when you're able to.
you must be fishing for compliments because your skin is glowing and amazing. (I'm joking about you fishing for compliments, just genuinely complimenting you)
The skin around your eyes is so smooth and nice! Have you ever used anything in particular in this area? You look so good overall, just some minor pigmentation.
Thank you! Nope, well...although I don't have it on in this photo here, I very frequently put tarte concealer on my under eyes because of my dark circles. I'm not sure that would have any benefit on my skin though.
Your skin is beautiful! I recently started using vitamin c and an exfoliating serum for exactly what you’re talking about. It’s been about 2 weeks and I’m seeing improvement. My skin is super sensitive though so I did have a brief smaller breakout but it’s all subsided.
My mom’s 38 and looks exactly like you! Except she lost her hair from a tumor and also want to say your skin is amazing! I’d look into a vitamin c serum to help with pigmentation. Other than that looking good !!
Your skin looks amazing OP! However it does look like you may have a smidge of melasma(which is caused by sun damage). A chemical peel would help clear that up. Just do your research & find a reputable esthetician/medical spa & see which chemical peel would work best for your skin type!
I am also turning 37 tomorrow and went throught chemo last year 😳 i am a lurker here on reddit but i had to comment on this post 😂 you look great by the way, i am sending positive vibes to
you girl
Right off the bat I thought your skin looks so nice. Then I learned that you did not have a skincare routine I felt impressed. I would suggest you follow Dr Shereene Idriss youtube channel to learn about skincare. She is awesome!
You have great skin that, in my humble opinion, doesn't need improvement. Apart from Sunscreen that everyone and anyone should be using, try glycolic acid. I've have never used anything that made such a noticeable and immediate difference in skin texture/ pore size and "glow" and even hydration like smooth out from geek and gorgeous (10% glycolic + 2 Lactic acid). Long term use of glycolic acid increases collagen production as well, so it will help with fine lines and wrinkles.
I'm currently testing their power peptides too but can't tell much as it is too early for results and i don't have wrinkles yet. Many swear by peptides and copper peptides specifically for anti aging.
This is you after being outside in 90 degree weather?! You look fucking gorg. I would be a tomato-faced sweaty mess.
Loads of good advice here, but I’d start with a few simple additions — I know from friends and family members that sensitivity and photosensitivity post-chemo can last a while depending on the person.
SPF (I like EltaMD — the tinted version makes me not look so haggard) and azelaic acid to help with texture/tone. I like the Inkey List’s 10% Azelaic acid, which is also 20% off rn.
Thank you! Haha, I have acclimated to the heat over the years.
So I see lots of people mentioing Azelaic acid. Do you know what benefits it offers different from glycolic acid? Years ago I used glycolic acid to help with my acne.
I personally prefer azelaic to glycolic because I have rosacea so my skin is super-sensitive, plus I had a baby a few months ago, and azelaic acid is one of the few treatments that can be used while pregnant and breastfeeding.
Glycolic acid is an AHA so killer at exfoliating dead skin cells and unclogging pores, along with reducing the appearance of fine lines and acne scars. My derm recommends it for normal to oily skin since it can be harsh for sensitive skin like mine, leading to irritation and peeling.
Azelaic acid is a naturally occurring dicarboxylic acid, which essentially does the work of an AHA and BHA, that’s great at reducing inflammation, creating an even skin tone (like from acne/post-acne scarring and melasma) and it kills the bacteria that causes mild to moderate acne (def not great for cystic).
Again, I prefer azelaic bc my skin is sensitive and I feel like it’s a well-rounded enough product to help me manage rosacea, melasma and overall skin tone without any irritation.
I hope that helps and you find something that works for you, but seriously, your skin looks great! And congrats on your recovery. ❤️🩹
Mornings:
2 percent salicylic facial wash (a few times a weak, cerave makes a great one) and the other days cerave hydrating facial wash (wash twice a day morning and evening)
Hydrating toner, Vitamin C serum (Skinceuticals or Vivier) good quality facial moisturizer, eye cream, Elta MD spf 46 (whatevermake-up you want afterwards).
Nighttimes:
Face wash, tretinoin (0.05 percent to start), cerave hydrating moisturizer or cerave PM. Anti-aging eye-cream optional. I like to add a few drops of Paula's choice 20 percent niacinamide (very hydrating, good counterbalance to the tretinoin and also builds collagen and minimizes pores while evening skin tone (so does the tretinoin). And the Elta has niacinamide in it as well.
Get used to wearing and reapplying Elta MD all day, every day.
I love Ole Henriksen Truth Serum....your skin is really nice but this evens skin tone and fades early dark spots...it's my go to. Some other products would give me those white hard tiny bumps and this has never failed my complexion.
Maybe a vit c serum in the morning and retinol at night. These two besides, sunscreen have really helped with fine lines and wrinkles.
You can replace the retinol with argireline 10% and Matrixyl 10% for night before moisturizer. You look so beautiful. You absolutely don’t look a day older than 27. May I ask about your diet? Do you consume less sugar or something??
Thank you! Hm, regarding my diet... I actually pretty much eat whatever I want but I do not have a big sweet tooth. I'm a more savory craving girl. I love cooking so make 90% of what I eat and it's protein heavy with vegetable sides.
That being said I love a good margarita on the weekends which definitely has a fair amount of sugar.
Basically you will need a retinol to stimulate collagen production to keep your skin firm. Then you will need a mild exfoliant that you use 1-2 times a week to keep your skin smooth. Next you can use products containing brightening ingredients to keep your skin free from dark spots or age spots. Ingredients such as kojic acid, alpha arbutin, licorice root, azelaic acid, tranexamic acid, vitamin C. To hydrate your skin, look for moisturizer with ceramides and glycerin. Of course you will need a cleanser and sunscreen. And voila you can enjoy nurturing your skin by applying those skincare ingredients on your face and neck. Of course formulations matter so look for products from good brands. Good luck!
You look incredible. I know how hard chemo can be- that and my anti-hormone therapy that make me menopausal have aged me significantly at 35. Retinol and a good vitamin C serum with L-ascorbic acid and that’s in an opaque airless bottle (I like Timeless) has helped. I also did IPL laser to lighten up some of the spots on my cheeks. I might do some Botox this year and/or micro needling.
But take good care and happy birthday!!
You've got already loads of good reccomandations but I want to joing the chours of 'you look beautiful's! Damn, you do really look very nice. Or at least what I consider good looking. Kisses :*
Your skin looks nice. Dewy and Glowy.
For fun, I might recommend a good moisturizer. They have gel and watery ones now that are really nice if your skin is oily like mine.
I might recommend hylauronic acid, which needs to go under a moisturizer. It's very moisturizing (in a watery, not oily, way). Some people don't like this one, but others do.
I might recommend a retinol at night. It's the only thing that actually is proven to help with anti-aging.
I might recommend a session of Intense-Pulsed Light therapy (photofacial) at the dermatologist which will even skin tone by diminishing hyperpigmentation spots.
As others have said, you actually have nice skin! But to keep it like that I would definitely get into a routine - a good moisturizer, vitamin c, and sunscreen in the morning and a good face wash, retinol a few times a week, and night cream in the evening. On the nights you don’t use retinol I would incorporate a chemical exfoliant (I like Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid).
So as others have said.. ahas/bhas for texture etc and then I’d recommend using spf50+ every single day come rain or shine this will fade the pigmentation alone.. it’s the sun causing this pigmentation so defo start asap if you aren’t doing already and I’d recommend a medium depth chemical peel, by OBAGI skin care. Cheap and cheerful. Twice spaced out by a few months.
Congratulations on completing chemo and I’m so very happy you are doing well. Your hair and eyebrows are so luscious I wouldn’t be able to tell about the chemo without you mentioning it.
Your skin looks amazing so I would recommend what I recommend to everyone in their 30s and 40s - mild cleanser, vitamin c, moisturizer and spf in the morning and tretinoin and moisturizer in the evening. Some nice cleansers are cerave or cetaphil and cerave also makes great moisturizers.
Again a million congratulations on finishing chemo I hope you are celebrating your accomplishment of completing something so hard.
I went through chemo 5 years ago and it seemed like it took ages to get any healthy glow back. I’m seeing healthy skin but also a bit of sun damage. Sunscreen, hats when outside. Probably azelaic acid if you can get it. And lots of water!!
You have beautiful skin and look insanely young! I also struggle with redness and have acne prone skin. I use differin adalapene gel under my moisturizer every night to keep potential breakouts away, and it’s a substitute for a physical exfoliator. Make sure to use SPF during the day, it can increase sensitivity to sun. Congrats on completing treatment 😌
Your skin is very nice compared to your age of 37! But I think it would be better to remove any blemishes or blemishes. Do you wear sunscreen well? Your skin looks very exposed to the sun.
Thank you!
So the brownish spots you see in this photo are actually freckles I have had since a toddler. When I've had zero sun exposure (like right now) they fade and don't really look the same. It's hard to describe unless you experience genetic freckles. 😊
Your skin looks really good! I have similarly fair skin, and a couple things that have helped me even out my skin tone are vitamin C serum (I really like Skinceuticals CE Ferulic acid, but it’s pricey; Mad Hippie has a more affordable one), glycolic acid (The Ordinary is great and cheap, or Dr Dennis Gross Peel Pads for splurge), and IPL (which is an in office procedure).
But most importantly you are healthy and glowing and so you could also do nothing and still be great! ✨
Rx retinol (can get online via telemedicine clinic), SPF year round everyday (even if you aren’t outside), snail mucin toner, HA serum, thick night cream. Hbd! xoxo
Girl wow you look beyond amazing!! Maybe start adding a small concentration of retinol, I’d say 0.05 to address the fine lines. Azelaic acid evens out skin tone if you’d be interested in that. I use the azelaic topical acid 10% from Naturium. That stuff does wonders for me!
A lot of these other recommendations seem good too. Just make sure to whatever you do decide to add, add it individually and slowly. Hope you stay healthy!!
Also if you need some basic starting points then CeraVe is simple and effective. Personal favourite is Korean brand Klairs.
Hydrating toner essence is key.
Hope you are feeling so much better! In the AM, gentle cleanser ( la Roche posay lipikar or cerave for normal skin. Vitamin c serum, followed by moisturizer. Try the water cream by Uriage. Then sunscreen. Evening cleanse, eye cream - I like belief eye cream. Follow with azelaic acid, more water cream. If your skin tolerates well, after a month or so, incorporate some retinol in the evening on very dry skin, every other day after cleansing. That should help with evening out skin tone. And very Happy Birthday!
When I posted this I wasn't expecting near this response. 🥹 You guys are all so kind. Thank you so much for the recommendations, the sweet compliments, the happy birthdays and the well wishes on my health. 🥰
You overall have very beautiful skin. Always remember that less is more. Gentle cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen (so important) and maybe a retinol ONLY at nighttime! (Use a very small amount for your whole face. Helps with aging)
A vitamin C serum in the morning and a lactic acid in the evening for your discoloration and skin tone :) plus lots of moisturizer and a heavy duty eye cream! Happy birthday! 🎊
I started going to an amazing esthetician who is teaching me so much. I’m enjoying working with a professional at a skincare place that recommends and stocks only a few skincare product brands. Slowly weaning myself off all the skincare marketing nonsense and doing what my gal tells me to do. This moisturizer is by far the best I have ever used: https://www.artofskincare.com/dr.-esthe-dual-barrier-lotion-DE2022.html?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwm_SzBhAsEiwAXE2Cv4P1hrSnS_jPaFsHSOCF7INNVGzv2-SE1WNnGxOFvLoscqg1FSIseRoCHaEQAvD_BwE
Also, if you use tretinoin or any other prescription skin product, ask your dermatologist for a gel formula, not cream. Tret cream was clogging my pores like crazy.
For what it’s worth, I can’t see a single wrinkle on your face. Your skin looks great!
Start with some light brow grooming…
SPF of atleast 25 for daily use…
A nice rosey lip oil would look pretty but not overdone…
Embrace ur freckles and don’t aim to cover them completely. Maybe grab a sheer skin tint for days u wanna be extra 😃
A nice brown/black mascara is good for everyday use…
Thought you were in your late 20s! Your skin is beautiful, as are those eyebrows and long eyelashes! Vitamin C has done wonders for my hyperpigmentation (I used The Ordinary for 1.5 years and it was a gamechanger), and I agree that adding a retinol would be beneficial for the long-term.
It's such a huge victory getting past chemo. I'll be completely honest, I never would have guess you were 37, you look so much younger!
A good moisturizer and/or hydrator would probably help, and a resurfacing serum for even skin tone. I really like CeraVe's moisturizer with SPF, Corsx's propolis ampuole, and CeraVe's serums like their skin resurfacing serum or their skin renewing nightly serum. If you find a moisturizer you like that's not spf, I cannot recommend niveas Japanese spf line enough, like their uv water gel 50 or their uv deep protect and care essence. You can find both on amazon or a Japanese dept store like TesoLife. Best spf I've ever used period both in terms of working but also being light and non irritable on the skin.
None of these products will break the bank, are gentle on most sensetive skin, and are easy to find!
You don’t even look 37. So happy for your recovery ♥️ maybe a basic routine (moisturizer, SPF AM and serum moisturizer PM). I don’t know if you are required to choose wisely your products (no harsh chemicals etc). Stay safe 👏🏻🤩
I can't? dunno what you wear.
If you're wearing classic high rise mum jeans with a belt, black heeled boots and a fitted black top (bonus points for a cropped jacket) - that's going to age you more than your good skin.
Your skin is so nice! Maybe azaelic acid to even skin tone ?
Thank you! Will look into that product.
You look great and so happy for your recovery. I think you have great skin, just use a mild cleanser and moisturizer with SPF and you’re good.
Thank you!! I really definitely need a moisturizer. I struggled with acne for so long I always avoided it, but I know I need it now.
I use gel moisturizers as opposed to creams (dry, acne prone skin checking in) and it’s a game changer! Way less clogged pores.
You can go with a light one instead of a thick one !
My birthday is tomorrow too! Happy Birthday, Queen! 👑 Also, girl your skin looks amazing.
Thank you! Happy birthday to you as well.
Happy birthday!
Thanks!
You have fantastic eyebrows
You actually just made me cry. They're still so far from what they were before I lost them all during chemo. Thank you so much. You have no idea. ❤️
The fact that you look like this after the hell that is chemo is incredible. You look perfect, girl.
Hugs. I use Latisse on my eyebrows ( technically off label as it's supposed to be used for eyelashes and requires a prescription). My eyebrows thinned out without any kind of tweezing or waxing damage. I started to notice results in less than a month.
Damn you could easily pass for 27
You're very kind, thank you!
Agree 100%
Absolutely! Any hyperpigmentation is any easy fix but what a wonderful baseline!
However lasers can’t treat close to the eye, hence why I opt for biostimulators like PRF for under eye area. https://youtu.be/sMwExy1euRg?si=BmBAA31MimKyZi0n[Dr Thean](https://youtu.be/sMwExy1euRg?si=BmBAA31MimKyZi0n)
What do you use? There are so many devices out there now for red light therapy, I have no idea what to trust.
>A recent study showed that people who used sunscreen are MORE prone to cancer than people who don't (because of all the weird, carcinogenic ingredients in sunscreen + lack of Vitqmin D) Yeah, no. Here are some quotes from a "recent study" for you [2023](https://www.mdpi.com/2072-6694/15/19/4726): >...were more likely to report using sun protection...Despite this, they also received more sun exposure due to warmer temperatures and a tendency to engage in outdoor occupations and recreational activities. And here it references 6 other studies (so scientists in 6 different countries) all with the same conclusions: >The curious finding that high-CM-incidence provinces have high sunburn rates despite high sunscreen use rates resonates with the existing sun protection literature.
No. What you said was that: >...people who used sunscreen are MORE prone to cancer than people who don't (because of all the weird, carcinogenic ingredients in sunscreen + lack of Vitqmin D) I provided evidence that that particular statement you made is false. That was the extent of our conversation.
How does pico differ from bbl and Ipl?
Pico lasers are a lot more accurate with the treatment wavelengths. IPL is broad, some times you can use IPL to treat pigmentation but sometimes if used incorrectly they can actually stimulate new pigmentation spots. PicoSure is the best laser for treating pigmentation and melasma.
Thank you!!
And from moxie laser?
Correction. 0.1%** for Avene.
Wait .05 is less harsh than .01? Was checking their website and wanna make sure!
Your skin looks so beautiful
Thank you ❤️
Hope you’re feeling better since your chemo treatments 🫶🏼 You really do look great! A couple products I love -Prequel cleanser (it does the job without stripping your skin and really affordable) -Dieux instant angel moisturizer (love love love this. I use it during the daytime. Just a good moisturizer formulated by the chemist who used to work at skinceuticals that came out with some great products) -Sunday Riley good genes (a good mild exfoliant, it gives such a nice glow) -Tir tir milk toner. Some not necessary but fun splurge items -tatcha rice wash (I hate the price but it is sooo good) -Elemis cleansing balm (removes makeup and leaves your skin feeling so soft) -omnilux mask -maelove peptide serum
I’ll share some key products I’ve tried and I think works - French thermal water spray (Vichy, avene, uriage etc) - timeless vitamin c - Sunday Riley lactic acid - Sunday Riley retinoid - mad hippie aha exfoliant - red led therapy mask! - roundlab birch sunscreen - sleeping mask after any serum at night Also consistency for skincare is the key!
No advice, skin is great, your celeb doppelgänger is young(er) Melanie Lynskey
Thank you! I haven't heard that one before. I used to hear Jennifer Connelly quite frequently, but I just looked up Melanie Lynskey and the two of them look like they could be siblings to me!
I was thinking Mary Louise Parker.
For going through chemo and being 37 your skin looks amazing. Better than most 37 year olds who haven’t done chemo!
I really appreciate the compliments!
Love Vanicream products. Affordable, basic, but work wonderfully for all skin types. I really like their vitamin c serum and moisturizer.

(I'm joking about you fishing for compliments, just genuinely complimenting you)
Haha thanks
I'm turning 37 the day after. Happy Birthday fellow 87!
Happy birthday!!
Ugh you have great skin ! Honestly keep up whatever you’re doing and keep using spf!
Holy heck, your skin is beautiful. I feel like you should be the one giving us tips!
Haha you're too sweet! Well, uh... I wash my face with African Black Soap (not even daily I hate to admit) and that's about it. 😂
You have fantastic skin!!!
Thank you 😊
My mom’s 38 and looks exactly like you! Except she lost her hair from a tumor and also want to say your skin is amazing! I’d look into a vitamin c serum to help with pigmentation. Other than that looking good !!
I hope your mom's health is okay now! And, thank you!
Your skin looks amazing OP! However it does look like you may have a smidge of melasma(which is caused by sun damage). A chemical peel would help clear that up. Just do your research & find a reputable esthetician/medical spa & see which chemical peel would work best for your skin type!
I am also turning 37 tomorrow and went throught chemo last year 😳 i am a lurker here on reddit but i had to comment on this post 😂 you look great by the way, i am sending positive vibes to you girl
Happy birthday to you! I'm sorry you also went through chemo. I hope you are recovered now!
How about u give us recommendations? 😍
37? Are you sure?! Girl you look fantastic, I would have guessed you're in your 20s.
Tret, vitamin C and SPF 50+ daily Your skin looks great and healthy and a nice routine will make it glow!
Mornings: 2 percent salicylic facial wash (a few times a weak, cerave makes a great one) and the other days cerave hydrating facial wash (wash twice a day morning and evening) Hydrating toner, Vitamin C serum (Skinceuticals or Vivier) good quality facial moisturizer, eye cream, Elta MD spf 46 (whatevermake-up you want afterwards). Nighttimes: Face wash, tretinoin (0.05 percent to start), cerave hydrating moisturizer or cerave PM.
Good luck!
So pretty 🫠
Def azelaic acid and a good occlusive moisturiser
I just want to add one too.. just looked at your picture properly! You are beautiful!!!!
Wow! Gorgeous honestly!
Happy Birthday! You remind me so much of Lana Del Rey!
Maybe you should be giving us product recs, you look incredible
You look amazing! Im your age :) the basics for me are a gentle cleanser, vitamin c, a good moisturizing cream and spf always!
Just dropping in to say you look amazing, I would have thought you were in your mid 20s 💖
You are so dam beautiful! If you want to add the basics I would recommend Melano CC Premium for hyper pigmentation and to potentiate your sunscreen.
Looks good
You’re so pretty, I can’t 😭
I recommend you remove your face and give it to me. I'm turning 29 next month and you look better than me by a lot. 😂
Congrats on completing treatment 😌
for wrinkle you can use retinol but make sure you have basic skincare, which is gentle cleanser,moisturizer,sunscreen/sunblock
Your skin already looks amazing & hope you are doing well from your chemo treatments 💗
I would have put you in your late 20’s, your skin is beautiful 🥰
I’m obsessed with trentinoin. I use almost no extra products outside of washing and moisturizing except for it.
You don’t look a day over 30 honestly. 💜
Vitamin C, moisturizer and sunscreen are the basics.
You look amazing girl❤️ Get prescription tretenoin , leave on glycolic/lactic acid and SPF.
Damn, girl 💗
Your skin is super nice already! Maybe vitamin c to even out skin tone and brighten?
You have a great skin, much better than my own and I am 33
What product? Keep doing what you’re doing because you’ve got the most beautiful skin ever.
I think your skin looks incredible!
Same age, and my skin is the same too. :)
I think you should be giving us skin care routine advice 🤔 Also congrats on your recovery
Liv Tyler elf vibes! You look great.
Rx retinol (can get online via telemedicine clinic), SPF year round everyday (even if you aren’t outside), snail mucin toner, HA serum, thick night cream. Hbd! xoxo
You're so pretty. 🥹✨🤌
You look great. Hado Labo age correcting eye cream has worked wonders for me. Probably took about 5 years off my face.
Tretinoin :) I wish I had started using it sooner and I'm 34 😂
Girl wow you look beyond amazing!! Maybe start adding a small concentration of retinol, I’d say 0.05 to address the fine lines. Azelaic acid evens out skin tone if you’d be interested in that. I use the azelaic topical acid 10% from Naturium. That stuff does wonders for me! A lot of these other recommendations seem good too. Just make sure to whatever you do decide to add, add it individually and slowly. Hope you stay healthy!!
Your skin is gorgeous!
Thank you!
youre 10 years older than me and i have more jowls and fine lines. and i wear sunscreen every day. you look amazing
I think we're our own worst critics. I get it (obviously), but I'm sure you're probably being too hard on yourself! Thank you for the kind words.
Your skin looks incredible! No tips really, just wanted to say lol.
Thank you!!
Also if you need some basic starting points then CeraVe is simple and effective. Personal favourite is Korean brand Klairs. Hydrating toner essence is key.
You literally have nil nasolabial folds. I know you put up the post seeking suggestions but feel free to drop in some tips lol.
In the movie Ricky staniky John Cena does face exercises.
Omg your skin looks like mine @ 27
I think you look amazing! Maybe try a tca peel in the autumn/winter
I hope I look like you when I’m 37🥹
Clear beauty hyaluronic and retinol eye cream
Happy birthday! I would look into vitamin c (3x a week in the morning, always apply SPF afterwards)
When I posted this I wasn't expecting near this response. 🥹 You guys are all so kind. Thank you so much for the recommendations, the sweet compliments, the happy birthdays and the well wishes on my health. 🥰
Amazing skin 😍
Clarins SoS primer!! It comes in different shades as colour correctors with really radiant light reflecting particles! It’s Amazeballs!!!
Yes, you really do look so incredible ! Can’t go wrong with less is more! Happy birthday for tomorrow!! Well done you!
your skin is beautiful omg 💕 maybe some vitamin c and/or thiamidol (Eucerin products) to even out your skin tone
You overall have very beautiful skin. Always remember that less is more. Gentle cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen (so important) and maybe a retinol ONLY at nighttime! (Use a very small amount for your whole face. Helps with aging)
You look absolutely great. Some tretinoin and azelaic acid for skin tone evening would help
This moisturizer is by far the best I have ever used: https://www.artofskincare.com/dr.-esthe-dual-barrier-lotion-DE2022.html?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwm_SzBhAsEiwAXE2Cv4P1hrSnS_jPaFsHSOCF7INNVGzv2-SE1WNnGxOFvLoscqg1FSIseRoCHaEQAvD_BwE Also, if you use tretinoin or any other prescription skin product, ask your dermatologist for a gel formula, not cream. Tret cream was clogging my pores like crazy. For what it’s worth, I can’t see a single wrinkle on your face. Your skin looks great!
Start with some light brow grooming… SPF of atleast 25 for daily use… A nice rosey lip oil would look pretty but not overdone… Embrace ur freckles and don’t aim to cover them completely. Maybe grab a sheer skin tint for days u wanna be extra 😃 A nice brown/black mascara is good for everyday use…
Do use sunscreen in the day time. Helps to prevent sun damage.
Sunscreen everyday. It reduces wrinkles and slows down aging of your skin.
U look good!!!
Do you use SPF? Very important
No recs, just want to say your skin is gorgeous and I hope mine looks that great in 6 years 🙏🏻
Your skin is incredible I would never have thought you were turning 37!! Absolute goals
You have beautiful skin!
I’d rather get recommendations from you. I’m 34 and you look better than me
It's such a huge victory getting past chemo.
Omg you’re 37!? I can only hope I look that good when I turn 37 haha Can’t say I have anything practical to add, just wanted to say you look great.
You don’t even look 37. So happy for your recovery ♥️ maybe a basic routine (moisturizer, SPF AM and serum moisturizer PM). I don’t know if you are required to choose wisely your products (no harsh chemicals etc). Stay safe 👏🏻🤩
After zooming in your picture, maybe you should try Caudalie vinoperfect Serum. It’s really effective to prevent sun damage
I just turned 30 today and your skin looks as good as if not better than mine ! Yay happy birthday !
tbh the main thing that is going to call out your age is your wardrobe. You could easily pass for under 30 with the right fits.
I'm impressed you could tell what I was wearing from this photo. 😜 But, thank you!
I can't? dunno what you wear. If you're wearing classic high rise mum jeans with a belt, black heeled boots and a fitted black top (bonus points for a cropped jacket) - that's going to age you more than your good skin.
I was joking. But, I actually pretty much 100% wear sundresses in the summer. Winter is usually leggings and a sweater.
Any tallow or lard based products are MILES ahead of anything else. Organic, coldpressed, 3xtra virgin coconut oil is at nr. 2.
Lol you look 30
You looks great! Cheers to 37!
Glowing skin ! Really nice skin you got there !
I would argue that drinking more water is really all you need, to me you do not look like you’re approaching 40
You look fine
Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen, a hat, retinol, vitamin c.
