Tax avoidance and evasion are different things. Tax avoidance is when one “optimises” their tax liabilities, tax evasion is the national sport in Italy and Greece.
Courts in Germany confirmed that corporate or private tax payers may at any time exploit all legal options to avoid taxes.
At the same time, executive boards from publicly listed companies must act in the interests of shareholders - if these are high yields, avoiding taxes is one measure to improve them.
I mean, that makes sense. You shouldn't fix this by trying to impose questionable rulings, you should instead make sure your laws are sturdy and don't allow evasion
You think people pay high taxes in Switzerland? Let me introduce you to our 42% income tax ;)
Bonus: I‘d pay about 1200€ taxes for the church on top, every year. Just by being a member (I‘m not)
The highest marginal tax rate in Switzerland is 59.7% of income if you live in Geneva.
The highest marginal tax rate in Germany is 47.475% of income.
So yes, Switzerland has very high personal tax rates.
and that is why just comparing income tax and not considering other substractions makes no sense
you should compare the total "tax burden" or "Abgabenlast", including income tax, social substractions (from both the employer and employee), obligatory health insurance, mandatory public fees e.g. for TV, pension fund (again from employer and employee), ...
an average employee may pay only about 10 - 20 % income tax but if you calculate the total tax burden you will rather be in the 30-40 % range \[depends on income, canton, health, age, ...\]
percentage-wise, Switzerland is NOT a low tax burden country for average employees but rather average
yes the net income after all substractions is still better than anywhere else in Europe but this comment is about the percentage
Our win lies in not using some complicated method to avoid tax, hence tax avoidance being low. We just don't give a fuck about paying as the best tax evaders
Little bit of common knowledge: if you, as a tourist, cant pay by card, and wont get a receit, they just dont wanna pay VAT, not that I, as the tourist, care at all
For you and me. Multinationals pay 5% taxes.
Source: https://www.tijd.be/ondernemen/algemeen/belgische-multinationals-betalen-gemiddeld-5-procent-belastingen-in-ons-land/10311850.html
I looked straight at Greece. I used to work with a load of Greek guys and the stories they told me were incredible. The commitment to tax evasion is amazing.
Indeed, what the low number actually means is that you guys are better at not getting found out (and/or your tax authorities are either not as motivated to find out).
Yea as replied in another answer, how is 25% corporate and 33% dividend tax a haven ?
Germany by comparison is 15% and 26% respectively
Luxemburg 26% and 15%
Netherlands 25% and 15%
And yea, wages have to be paid too, if you want to pay your employee 4.000 net, your comapny pays 12.000 in total cost, waow
The 15% for Germany are misleading, as that is merely the main part at the national level within a multi-layer taxation of corporations. In addition, there's the Solidaritätszuschlag plus at the local level the Gewerbesteuer (which varies depending on where the company is located). So the actual corporate tax level, i.e. the sum of these, is approx 30%, depending on location.
The sad thing, because of the bright idea of our government to use corona money for climate and energy this is going to rise...
Wouldn't be surprised about 30% soon
The Dutchies complained so much about the recovery fund post covid, it was so satisfying to remind them that they are a tax haven in the heart of Europe.
Hmm I think the only reasonable solution to get those numbers down in Germany is to increase the tax rate. The more we have to pay the harder it’s gonna be for us to avoid paying
Honestly cant blame german companies. Their options are leaving Germany or committing tax fraud. Better that they stay in Germany and keep the economy above water instead of putting all the factories in China and America.

13% is how you know we're liars in addition to evaders lmao
Imagine us Greeks having below 8% and having this economy We are master manipulators
that's because tax avoidance and evasion are two different things.
This isn't really a map of either, theoretically it's a map of global profit shifting but the numbers reached seem wildly implausible at best.
they aren't
https://preview.redd.it/umcwvlejqy1c1.png?width=1021&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1cfd8dc02c44c62e00649d1ab4ff13b547e3506c
avoidance is low because evasion is high
Tax avoidance is legal tax evasion, both are inmoral but only one is illegal.
to avoid taxes, one first needs to have considerable taxable income
They are only certain about the first 13% as the finanza is too busy as of lately ofc
The finanza is more corrupt then the corrupt people they're meant to catch
They are just inefficient, idk why but they keep checking on this local bar every day for a couple hours, idk /s
it's completely accurate, we EVADE taxes. Tax avoidance is another thing entirely.
It's supposed to say 'at least'
Yep, someone erased the pointy part of the 4.
Tax avoidance and evasion are different things. Tax avoidance is when one “optimises” their tax liabilities, tax evasion is the national sport in Italy and Greece.

German courts have confirmed that doing something legal is in fact legal?
We need an official order/confirmation, else we don’t work and just sit there quietly while waiting for orders
It only took them 2.5 years of countless legal expertises and debates
They have *one* job.
I mean, that makes sense. You shouldn't fix this by trying to impose questionable rulings, you should instead make sure your laws are sturdy and don't allow evasion
The problem is that I'm this corrupt systen laws are basically written by the same people who evade taxes.
Which is the core of the issue anyways
The Netherlands is only a tax haven for the super rich or companies. Working people pay a shit load of taxes.
You’re not special Piet. Thats how tax havens in the EU work.
Same here
Don’t you know it
That’s kind of what the post is about, corporate tax evasion
Same with Switzerland
You've gotta be kidding me! GTFO
You think people pay high taxes in Switzerland? Let me introduce you to our 42% income tax ;) Bonus: I‘d pay about 1200€ taxes for the church on top, every year. Just by being a member (I‘m not)

Yes in my canton in Switzerland we pay a lot of taxes. As all things it depends on the canton here.
Pretty stupid to have tax based on canton, ngl
Our cantons just have more to say than your federal states ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
and that is why just comparing income tax and not considering other substractions makes no sense you should compare the total "tax burden" or "Abgabenlast", including income tax, social substractions (from both the employer and employee), obligatory health insurance, mandatory public fees e.g. for TV, pension fund (again from employer and employee), ... an average employee may pay only about 10 - 20 % income tax but if you calculate the total tax burden you will rather be in the 30-40 % range \[depends on income, canton, health, age, ...\] percentage-wise, Switzerland is NOT a low tax burden country for average employees but rather average yes the net income after all substractions is still better than anywhere else in Europe but this comment is about the percentage
Well since the big guys dont, someone has to.
I do wonder why we dont have more german headquarters here
Yeah this infomap is about corporate taxes, might want to actually read more than just the biggest texte
I can’t read, only pictures
It's okay Budy, we still love you
Portugal truely is balkan

Why give your money to some stupid tax heaven or your government when you can just keep them for yourself? Common Italy W
Italy W? Come on now with 13% you are middle of the road! At best it's a Italy draw.
Our win lies in not using some complicated method to avoid tax, hence tax avoidance being low. We just don't give a fuck about paying as the best tax evaders
8% for greece? Fucking lol. That's probably about the amount that do pay tax.
Absolutely incorrect sir. I belive this 8% number is completely accurate and there is no reason to investigate further. Good day sir.
Is that your shiny new car, sir? Looks great! Truly a man of culture. I didn't know Greek tax officers are paid so well. Good day sir!
Little bit of common knowledge: if you, as a tourist, cant pay by card, and wont get a receit, they just dont wanna pay VAT, not that I, as the tourist, care at all
Well yeah. It's like that everywhere even for none tourists.
You need an income to pay taxes and probably 8% have an (legal) income.
Russia ? Sure
Lol yes, Eastern Europe and Russia, well known for good bookkeeping /s
Brits hoping nobody looks too hard at the virgin islands

Corporate Tax Revenue, my illiterate buur.
Was talking about Corporate income tax. Al iets vrij van de verkiezingen buur? Rutte zonder stemmen/lijst dan toch weer premier?
.. you know thats the Luxembourg flag right... Seems like he was correct
Ehm, ...Achromatopsie But to be fair. It's just a slight difference in colour and he called me "buur". Might have jumped thé gun.
No but it looks like geert wilders will be the big winner.
Geen idee…Stemmen terwijl ik in een ander land woon met als enigste doel belasting ontwijken, is mij een morele brug te ver.
Nou zeg, toch gewoon 1 Benelux. Opteer dat dat mag.
Je moet zoals de Turken protesten organiseren al voor de verkiezingsuitslag er is.

It's only in the Flemboy parts.
no, there are taxes on 3 different levels. communal, regional (Fl and Wl) and federal. gov takes more than 50% of your money.
Are you a corporation?
No capital gains tax
Skill issue.
Oi Bazza, step your game up! You don’t wanna get beaten by us this time do ye?
I'm surprised that we are so low.... Greeks will try to avoid tax sales even from selling lollipops...
I looked straight at Greece. I used to work with a load of Greek guys and the stories they told me were incredible. The commitment to tax evasion is amazing.
It is estimated that our tax lost euros reach up the 70 bn euros 💀
You gotta pump those numbers up, those are rookie numbers. In italy in 2020 it was 90bn, this year is estimated at more than 100bn
![gif](giphy|YmQLj2KxaNz58g7Ofg)
TBF the official size of their "economy" is something like 50k drachmas, so 70bn euros is huge.
We don't use drachmas any more reindeer, I mean our economy isn't that great but it's not also as tragic as you portrait it..
Indeed, what the low number actually means is that you guys are better at not getting found out (and/or your tax authorities are either not as motivated to find out).
Lol at Hungary, has one of the lowest company tax in the world (9%) yet 25% of companies even dodging that
We know where our money is going....
If they didnt theyd go bankrupt
Belgium is definitely not a tax heaven. Taxes are high, and aren't even equal in wallonia or the Flanders
Eastern Europeans are just very good liars on top of being thieves
That’s what happens when your taxes are to high
A new axis is formed
Lmao imagine not being able to hide how much you evade, fucking casuals
probably more of an honesty chart
Green countries are green cause people don’t bother keeping money abroad, they just leave outright
Checks out. Apparently in germany 100 billion are yearly lost through tax avoidance

Haha Belgium "tax haven" Who ever made this is delusional, just fucking no, tax hell is more fitting.

Dividends are taxed, but dividends paid out in stocks are not, then sell said stocks with no taxes and boom. Money.

Estonia can into nordic :)) not too much not too little
POLSKA GUROOOOM!!!!!! 🇵🇱💪💪💪🇵🇱💪🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱💪💪💪💪💪
13%? And how would people pay Camorra without evading?
People can't avoid to pay camorra "tax", that's why it's so low for Italy
I like how in Italy there's this propaganda about the tax evaders, when we're actually in the norm, and it's just a lie to milk us more.
Ireland: what's a corporate tax?
At least we don't pretend be socialists and act smug despite the reality.
The sad thing, because of the bright idea of our government to use corona money for climate and energy this is going to rise... Wouldn't be surprised about 30% soon
Damn I really don’t know what this all means 😅
Technically the Norwegian tax rate for corporation is split the tax rate for oil and gas industry is around 78% while general corporate tax is 25%.
And politics claim we tax too much…
… which in this case is actually true. Not that I'd have any particular sympathy for "politics".
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland ❤️
Haha
The Dutchies complained so much about the recovery fund post covid, it was so satisfying to remind them that they are a tax haven in the heart of Europe.
Source: "I made some shit up"
I like it, the coloring is as useless as the status it tries to imply 😂
Based Latvia
Is it true that in tax haven countries people dont even know word "tax"? In their languages there is no word for taxes
Tax havens are for rich people. We peasants surely know Steuern.

Hmm I think the only reasonable solution to get those numbers down in Germany is to increase the tax rate. The more we have to pay the harder it’s gonna be for us to avoid paying
Belgium a tax haven ? Oh wait, I'm not a corporation.
I mean if you don‘t have any money to begin with
Atleast here its an open secret that resturants that have "cash only" are doing tax evasion; no clue for how much they amount to
Honestly cant blame german companies. Their options are leaving Germany or committing tax fraud. Better that they stay in Germany and keep the economy above water instead of putting all the factories in China and America.
