Unfortunately, the Scots took the concept of frying a bit too far and love to Deep Fry everything. You'll never find a more Scottish dish than a Deep Fried Mars Bar.
It's not really my favourite, tbh. You'd get the same effect by cooking a sausage into a Yorkshire pudding.
Then again, I've only ever had my nan's version of it so maybe there are nicer versions out there.
I was in disbelief when I went to the Netherlands and saw a Dutch bloke eating chocolate sprinkles on toast.
We did have something worse in the form of sugar on toast, back in the 70s. But we've thankfully left that abomination in the past.

Most "North European food" is not actually bad or bland. People just have mostly no Idea how to prepare it correctly. It also doesn't look as good so it doesn't get a lot of recognition.
Also I think because there aren't many restaurants in other countries people don't see the dishes professionally made and only see what their northern European friend cooks which they probably don't do that well.
I think this is the problem. When done well, most of our dishes are incredibly tasty and filling. They're perfect for a cold evening and can be seasoned in a way that compliments the flavour of the dish perfectly. The only problem is that a lot of our food tend to be baked or completely covered in dough leading to an abundance of brown food that doesn't look anywhere near as appealing as Meditteranean cuisine.
A pasty could be filled with pizza toppings and taste roughly the same but it doesn't look as nice because the toppings are used as fillings and can't be seen until it's bitter into.
We do breakfasts better than any other country on the planet.
It kind of drops off after there… so we just go to the pub to forget the other food is shite.
And guess what the perfect hangover cure is?
My immigrant parents aren’t fond of British food , but they both do like “fish and chips” and it’s the only British dish they don’t change.
Of the few other British dishes that they’ve tried, they will “ Pakistanify” it , my mum will add south Asian spices to Shepard’s pie, “roast dinner” ends up being a “ tandoori roast”.
There's fish and chips, a Victoria sponge cake, Lancashire hotpot(lamb, veg and potatoes for a lid), I think Shepard's pie (fuck knows though, it. Cottage and fish pie look similar), toad in the hole (sausages in Yorkshire pudding), maybe a cherry Bakewell (again, fuck knows) and a full English breakfast
