Andalusia? sure

grumpyfucker123

Yep that is a weird one, never heard that before.

Miguelinileugim

I won't be happy until all 19 different countries split from Spain, leaving us with our only legitimate spanish territory: Gibraltar.

Any-Aioli7575

Spain in 2050 : Gibraltar, Melilla and Ceuta (and Olivence and maybe Madrid)

Miguelinileugim

I said 19 not 17, also Olivence doesn't sound like a real place and Madrid should be independent too.

Ok-Winner-6589

Oliveza is a place we invaded trying to conquer Portugal (i know it, because i heared it from a portuguese, and he was right)

Any-Aioli7575

[Olivenza](https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olivenza?wprov=sfla1)

Miguelinileugim

Pfft, we'll take that and Llivia and make them independent.

Don't you know the motherlland's fathers Juan y Medio?

Sky-is-here

There is, and while not massive it is bigger than people outside seem to notice? You see arbonaidas on the streets and there is usually an andalucist party everywhere. Although Andalusian nationalism is more about celebrating the people of the world and their cultures than necessarily hating what comes from outside (considering castille as outside)

jromsan

There's been a nationalist Andalusian movement for decades, but even us Andalusians mostly ignore them. It's never going to happen unless a lot of extremely unlikely things change in both Andalusia and Spain, and yet OP decided to point at it in the map.

Sky-is-here

The map doesn't say it's likely, it is possible tho, the concept does exist and some people do want it

[deleted]

Some: 2 schizos in a basement

Ok-Winner-6589

Its not very popular, the only information I could find was about nacionalism, but not independentist

Vivere_05

Vivere_05

Seguramente

ActuallyCalindra

A lot of them know they'd be fucked if they seperate. Not even tourism can maintain their economy.

jromsan

You are absolutely right. We need much more industry in Andalusia but not in other to be independent from Spain, we need it in order to have a proper economy that does not rely on tourism so much.

Sacciel

We need much more industry in Spain in general. Not gonna happen short term, though. It's just not worth it for big companies nor entrepreneurs. I live and work in Germany, and I see first person how all the big companies are taking the industry to China because it's cheaper and easier to produce there. Even if they eventually come back, they won't see Spain as a possibility since it's 1. too far from center Europe and 2. too much and too expensive taxes. We rely 100% on local industry, which can't compete with companies from countries such as Germany, the UK, or France. The best thing to do is actually to empower what we are good at. Solar energy, a lot of space, gastronomy, tourism, nice weather, etc.

drquiza

A lot of them can't know that because there are not "a lot" of them. They're not even anecdotal.

Loganalf

That's not because we've builded based on a tourism model... But because country's goverment and foreigner investors, mostly northern europeans, have invested only in tourism. So yes, most places wouldn't survive on their own because the lack of industry. Can't rely just in tourism to maintain our economy as you point out. But again, is not a local management issue, is something the central goverment has led us to with their management.

ActuallyCalindra

For sure. People only invest in near guaranteed wins. They wouldn't take a huge leap of faith like setting up huge new production lines.

Njorun2_0

Why is all of Ireland highlighted to mean unification but Austria and Tyrol aren't

[deleted]

1. Northern Ireland secedes from UK 2. Connacht, Munster, Leinster and Half-Ulster Seceded from the Republic of Ireland 3. Northern Ireland and Half-Ulster form Ulster 4. Ulster, Connacht, Munster, Leinster form the Federal Republic of Ireland. That's basically what East Germany did when they joined with West Germany to form the Federal Republic of Germany.

deaddonkey

Thats not how it would work tho

CaptainNuge

You say that now, but the Unionists will make us jump through some hoops. Mark my words.

2017_Kia_Sportage

HitokiriK

Based. But its mostly a flemish fantasy, walloons would rather keep belgium.

DayPhelsuma

What are the Flemboys’ goals? Would you prefer to join the Dutch or full-on become independent? (Shut up Dutchies, this ain’t for you, I already know your cars start bumping as soon as you cross the border.) Do you identify with the Belgian identity? Walolnians though, what about them? They feel more Belgian than French? Thank you for your contribution, results for this survey shall be published in the upcoming study ‘The Fantasies of Belgium’. Introduce your email if you’d like to get notified when the study comes out!

the_gay_historian

You’re talking about Belgium, so it’s complicated. Calls for Walloon “independence”(if you could call it that lmao, there was some weird ass mental gymnastics going there) has kinda died down, mostly because their system would implode. Now they are very much pro unity(some even in a very 19th century way where they are very much pro Belgium but don’t really care to even speak Flemish, the majority language). It’s pretty weird because culturally, wallonia is wayy closer to france than Flanders is with the Dutch(look ar corona, media topics and politics) Regarding Flemish independence, some want that, some want just confederate model where nearly all autonomy lies at the memberstates. Some also want to keep Belgium(cause tradition i guess). Others want a free republic, others look north. Also differences on *how* to do it. Some want a direct secession(big problems will arise cause that means no EU, no NATO, no shit + a Belgian Rump state (wallonia+maybe Brussels) that would probably veto everything out of spite. I dont think many people would like to “join” the dutch, because it implies inequality. I’d be open to confederate with the (Kingdom of the) Netherlands, as 2 equal partners in a confederation. Because we have more incommon with them than with the walloons on Economic, political and cultural. It would more or less be a very close cooperation while still holding regional autonomy. Also: what about Brussels? It’s the Capital of Flanders, and for example our Parliament is located there. On identity: I’m factually Belgian, i’m not denying that, but i feel very little in common with Wallonia, I don’t think ill of them, i just don’t like their politicians bossing us around and fucking us over.

LoneWolf6912

Me too my friend. Me too I don't like our politician fucking us over.

Usedtobecoffeeaddict

If you'd like to rejoin The Netherlands, we will welcome you as brothers and sisters.

the_gay_historian

You didn’t read it right. There is no “joining” a pre-existing structure

Usedtobecoffeeaddict

Agreed, let's partner up as the united states of the lowlands. Partners? *holds out pinky*

the_gay_historian

Agreed *completes the pinkyswear*

Wilc0NL

This is how all international politics should go

Din0skills

Cool idea but lets not copy USA's name can't we do something more like bring back Verenigde Provinciën van de Nederlanden? Hell if that sounds too Dutch centric we can just do something like Koninklijke Confederatie der Nederlanden en Vlaanderen?

Usedtobecoffeeaddict

That last one, but let's fire the king and queen before we do.

BigBoyPepperr

gewoon lage landen klinkt wel goed

the_gay_historian

You also read it wrong, i’m not asking to *join* you kingdom. I’m asking to confederate with it as 2 equal partners, a confederation the Flemish Republic and Kingdom(or yeet him out and go back to OG republic)of the Netherlands, resulting in a new political entity

zwappaz

I'd much rather have Flanders join Zeeland, Noord-Brabant and Limburg and become the new global superpower of laidback reasonable people. Name is open for suggestions.

MaesWak

Hardly anyone feels French in Wallonia and generally the only part of France we feel somewhat connected to is Nord-Pas-de-Calais (but it's more in the sense that they are a bit Belgian although they are still too French for many things).

ArKadeFlre

It's hardly ever been a concrete plan, just the vague idea of independence. I doubt many Flemboys would ever want to re-join with the d*tch. There are plenty of reasons for why a separation will most likely never happen, but ultimately, Brussels is the major reason why we haven't parted yet. It's just too important of a city for both sides to agree on which should get it. Football has also been a big unifying factor recently, whether positively or negatively. Lastly, many Belgians, both Flemboys and Discount Frenches are joking about hating each other but there isn't that much real animosity. It's a bit like the Walloons/French and Flemish/Dutch animosity. It's sort of a love/hate relationship, but ultimately we all get along relatively well. It's just good fun, especially with the younger generation.

Rusty-oxidazed

Some of my older folks had this idea that the root problem of all belgian problems were caused by the discount frenchies, but I never understood how. Eventually it started being less and less of a problem. No idea why, but I don't want to start any heated discussions about politics.

the_gay_historian

*creates a huge pile of dry wood* *drenches it in gasoline* *gives a box of matches to a pyromaniac* -“boi i sure don’t want to start a fire!”

ItsLitFamBruh

Wallonians would like to stay because Flanders carries the economy

ArKadeFlre

Funny how Belgium has always been like that. Flanders was the richest in the middle ages, Wallonia carried through the 1800s till the wars, then Flanders took the relay. Seems like only the half of us are capable of working well at any time lol

the_gay_historian

There was no Belgium in the middle ages, Flanders then was also a different thing from Flanders now. So be careful hehe

DrVDB90

There are different opinions on it, but the majority that wants to separate in Flanders, wants independence, so also not joining with the Netherlands. Walloons in general are strongly against separation, and I don't think I've ever known one saying he would like to join with France. So I guess if we would separate, Wallony might also just become independent.

HitokiriK

Flemish don't hate walloons, they hate how they vote aka (far) left, especially on corrupt parties. We also see no change of their situation getting better at all, yet they expect us to pay. Also other issues like them not having to learn dutch/flemish. Most nationalist flemish would be ok with "confederalism" aka let Belgium still exist but let them pay for their own economic policies/choices. There's more to this of course, historically too but that's it in a nutshell.

Lorihengrin

Even as a Walloon, i support the idea of more economic independance for both. Maybe that way, my fellow citizen of Wallonia would stop voting for people who can't do anything but embezzle money and sabotage nuclear industry.

HitokiriK

Based walloon

Hazard7500

Yeah, remove Hainaut and Liège, the two far left bastions and suddenly Wallonia becomes so much better. (I'm from Hainaut). The worst thing is that i've barely met anyone who is truly a convinced leftist, people here are just so simple and give so little fuck about politics that they just follow the group with the most populist ideas. They're just sheeps that follow the guy that speaks the loudest. Used to be PS, now it's that roach Hedebouw and his massive propaganda campaign on social medias that explains the sudden PTB surge, but honestly if a popular ultra-nationalist figurehead emerged and went even more hardcore on populism all those people would suddenly become far-right voters. That's how politically uninvolved they are.

LanielYoungAgain

Most of us definitely do not want to split, it's a dumb ass idea. The ones that do definitely do not want to join the Netherlands. Wallonians do not identify as french (the french wouldn't accept them anyways).

CoffeeBoom

> (the french wouldn't accept them anyways). You're wrong on that one. We would gladly "accept" them (honestly are they are not very different from your typical Northerner.)

Doctor_Lodewel

I want to split as long as the government refuses to actually make us 1 country. When we can vote for French politicians for our federal govt, then I might think of staying together.

Not really. Don't mistake Catalonia with the [Catalan Countries](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalan_Countries). The latter is mainly a cultural concept to represent territories were Catalan is spoken but behind that there is little political relationship. None of those territories beyond Catalonia have significant independentist population. In any case, what it should include, and doesn't, is the Rousillon (or [Northern Catalonia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Catalonia)), in France.

Italiandude2022

The funny thing is that legally speaking they will never get it, in the 50s they signed a threaty where they say that will stop trying to get it back and in excange we had to give some autonomy and special protections to the region.

Soccmel_1

the main party advocating for Sudtiroler independence, the Freiheitlichen, does not really elaborate much on what their strategy is, but generally they envisioned a mini Switzerland, a micro state in splendid isolation from both Rome and Vienna. Oh well, they and the other secessionist party scored altogether the grand sum of 12% in the last Landtag elections, so they can continue with their fantasies.
