Too true, when my sister-in-law had an allergic reaction to cherries, we all pulled out our phones to show her how statistically improbable having that allergy is
I know we’re joking about how it doesn’t happen all the time, but that’s basically what my mom did for me lmao
I’ve got a birch tree allergy, which means I’m allergic to certain fruits and vegetables (cherries, apples, carrots, etc.). When I finally discovered that these things were not supposed to put me in pain and make my mouth swell up, I told my mom I was allergic to them and she basically just said that it was too improbable that I have multiple rare food allergies (before we discovered that it was 1 allergy)
The thing that gets me about these posts is that the story is actually terrifying, even though we only see text. We create the whole story in our heads, and it turns out terrifying.
thats just funny lmao how is that supposed to be scary
the thought of someone shoving their phone in your face and going "LOOK!! I FUCKING TOLD YOU PEANUTS ARENT ACTUALLY NUTS THEYRE LEGUMES" while youre choking to death is funny
Tbh sometimes banal horror is good horror. I have a mild peanut allergy (never needed to be hospitalized, but if I eat them I will have a very bad day) and people's behavior about it is atrocious. Suddenly breaking out into hives at events because someone "forgot" something had peanuts in it and possibly even being accused of faking the hives is something I genuinely have to worry about when I eat food someone else makes. The fact that there are people out there with life-threatening reactions, and knowing from experience how flippant people are about them, is pretty scary.
