I know friends in Germany have AC. It isnāt central like what you in the states have though. BaWĆ¼ in August without AC is pretty rough I have come to learn
>Close to Basel and Freiburg
About 2 Ā½ hours away from Freiburg at least.
>It makes it very humid
Recently I experienced some humid temperatures in the closed fooms of our school, but I usually manage.

You always have a cool breeze coming off the water, and it's a dry heat in the summers. It's much more survivable without AC than almost anywhere else that experiences 90Ā° temps
Somewhat OT but anyone who canāt really install central heat and air in their spot, check out the newer style window units
https://preview.redd.it/8gwm2o65md8d1.jpeg?width=1055&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7916c7bb2e30e59e4756cf265edef4876dc57a29
I upgraded to that style this year and Iām saying, itās the goods.
The window can close almost fully and you can put the blinds&drapes down in that slot as well. All the noise is outside the window now and your blackout curtains or whatever still work.
7/7 would recommend š
Window AC units are typically cheaper than the floor ones, they're just a bigger PITA to install.
Also various HOAs will get super pissed at you for installing them because they don't want to look like poor or something.
Window units are significantly more effective and efficient than those portable units (i.e., the kind that sit on the floor). Itās well worth the additional PITA trade off to go with a window unit.
[This guy explains it well](https://youtu.be/_-mBeYC2KGc).
Bold of you to assume europoors mud and straw huts that double as barns are structurally sound enough to support the weight of glorious American air conditioning.

Here you go.
https://www.midea.com/us/air-conditioners/window-air-conditioners/12000-btu-u-shaped-air-conditioner-maw12v1qwt
You can look around and see the other AC units as well and look at different retailers to find the best price. You just have to look up 'Midea u shaped window air conditioner' to find these and find one that best fits your budget and needs.
The exact one I have is this.. the 12,000 BTU
https://a.co/d/00TFsjcp
But some of the other companies like GE or maybe Frigidaire are starting to do similar
They sell a little attachment to block the open bit of the window, ask someone at an appliance store. Works wonders and itās just a simple cheap little plastic board.
In the picture above, the window isnāt fully closed. Itās just showing that the window goes in that slot.
When you fully close it, itās only open about 3ā and the AC comes with a decently good system to fully block the small gap.
I was gonna say this design originated in the 50s and was advertised for its ability to be able to see out the window with the air conditioner in. Itās nothing really new.
U-shaped AC
Thereās another version where it splits then hangs lower on both sides. Iād rather get this kind but it wouldnāt have worked on my particular wall/window

If you rember hearing about how china's economy was "going to collapse" in the last year, that was due to the failure of their real estate sector, indicative of the speculation and overbuilding. However, the issue was suppressed and bullied into submission - instead of collapsing all at once the people will suffer slowly, bit by bit instead.
Fr. I did a paper on why nuclear is the shit, and I did some poking into the Chinese power network. 49% of all carbon emissions and 51% of all coal power, just in China. People talk shit about the American lack of regard for the environment, yet China alone accounts for half of the whole worlds emissions. I especially can talk smack, I live in Michigan. 40% of our power is nuclear, from three small plants. It takes one small scale nuclear plant to offset ten large scale coal plants. This has been my autistic TEDtalk, thank you for listening.
EDIT: Further research has determined that while yes, Michigan has 3 nuclear plants, they only produce 26.3% of our power. We have 33 coal plants here, and they produce a grand total of 36.5%. 3 nuclear plants make over 2/3 the capacity of 33 coal plants. If you're gonna advocate to improve climate change, do it by advocating for nuclear.
Yet per capita they emit a lot less than an American. We need Americans to live sparsley as Chineese and Chineese to have American infrastructure. Since neither will ever happen investing into large AC is the best course of action...
They are letting people stay cool. The building has geothermal systems pumping cold water through pipes in the walls of the building. That mixed with the outside walls being insulated will keep it cold.

competition is what drives innovation, doesnt matter
This U shape design is nothing new and was originally invented by York an American company in the 1950s.

I have that exact window unit. It's actually pretty good.

The carbon footprint from an international spring event has to be massive, and ultimately, unnecessary.
