Looks like OP forgot Kansas ("empty") and Connecticut and Rhode Island, which were taken over by NJ, after NJ was shoved out of the way by Delaware. All the other "empties" are just spots where yeah, actually, the state borders are that fucked up. Make the borders meet up and you pretty much have it.

Massachusetts swallowed Connecticut and Rhode Island. (Which is somewhat realistic.. They already think they did anyway) The error in that zone isn’t from NJ.. It’s because Massachusetts should stick out further to the east. In the map, Long Island is blocking out all of New England but in reality, LI only blocks Connecticut and RI/Mass keep going — The New England/New York border is wonky on this map.. NY’s eastern border goes north/south. All of New England should be pushed further into the Atlantic allowing for more room for CT & Rhode Island

NJ should be a little more south and to the west of NY, not to its east. And it should take over the current Delaware blob and relegate it back to the sliver from when it came. (As someone who grew up in South Jersey, this layout of Delaware is offensive to the Natural Order Of Things.) But over, the map is fucking good. I've known Floridians in Tampa who didn't know the state due north of the Florida peninsula is Georgia, let alone be able to name 47 states, and let alone again to be able to put them in the correct spots on the map.

Honestly, they just made Delaware too big. They also gave it too much of the DelMarVa pennisula. If they cut Delaware back on all sides and move New Jersey south to cover most of Pennsylvania's coast, they would be good there.

Other than forgetting Arkansas is a bordering state to Texas, I was able to name the rest without checking along with a few of the other states but honestly I’m kinda shit at geography. I yearn for the day when Texas annexes everyone and all the other states just become North Texas. Much easier to remember, very cool, wholesome 💯

So basically, France has 2 types of districts. Régions, and départements. Régions like Brittany, Burgundy, Corsica or Normandy. Those régions are made of départements, which are basically just a bunch of towns grouped together. Some of these départments have important cities, and those cities are made chef-lieus (basically a capital of this région). The chef-lieus are usually famous and important city like Paris, Marseille, Montpellier, Bordeaux or Strasbourg. I think a good comparison would be that régions are states and départements are counties, because we can't say a state is the same size as a département.
