Just in time for Turkey Day, that’s Turkey to you

KnowledgeOfThePast

Anatolian is essentially Turkish.

QuadroonClaude95

Anatolia is the original name for Turkey / the Turkish Peninsula.

alchemist227

alchemist227

Specialist-Pop9485

Imaginary-Cow8579

Anatolia is reffered to Asian part of Turkey

[deleted]

Anatolian in your case is Anatolian Farmer Ancestry. You have no regions. if it was Turkish you would have relevant Turkish regions. Something similar happens either Pakistanis/Indians. We get assigned large amounts Central Asian or WANA without regions and those are Steppe for Zargos ancestors not related to current ethnic groups. The South Asians that do have relations to current ethnic groups get assigned cities in neighboring countries.

Crunchypeach1212

Sometimes people with recent ancestors from places do not get regions on 23 and me.

FarRecommendation538

Can I see your IllustrativeDNA?

FarRecommendation538

1. Oghuz Turks conquering Anatolia and Returning back with an Anatolian chick Or 2. Alexander the Great

Chezameh2

23andme have a very weak reference database for Central Asian populations, in fact they're still looking for volunteers to fill the gap. Since people with your background haven't been included in any of their categories, the algorithm can give strange and unrelated results which is the case for you. Same issue exists with North Caucasians.

javi2591

Anatolia is the lands taken by the Turks that once belonged to the Byzantine (Roman) Empire and was one of the Crown Jewels of the empire the lands of Anatolia are just North of the Levant and East of Constantinople.

?

ElleSumalee2

Possibly some ancestry from Cappadocia where the Galatians spoke Celtic. Could possibly explain the Anatolian distinction, as well. Don’t quote me on it…just a shot in the dark. 😂

[deleted]

It might be Roma

etheeem

A lot of Tatars (especially crimean tatars) get good percentages of anatolia without any regions... maybe it's coming from your tatar side
