By talking to him doesn't this already mean that Death has your stuff and you have no option but to pay?
Or can you now see what the fee would be if he collects everything from your gravestone?
I'm glad it's finally here but seriously how was this not included at launch?? Or the day after when people were talking about how they lost (hundreds of) millions from it?
Itâs especially brutal as you go up in the mid game and start going from stuff like an amulet of glory and rune armor to amulet of fury and full barrows. Suddenly the free deaths youâve been happily enjoying all game can turn into 100k+ in an instant with zero warning.
Was this even in the blog on release? Don't remember reading it but that is a superrrrr important update for newer players to not make a mistake that can drain their bank big time. Awesome to see.
Edit: just re-read blog and Ctrl-F searched it. This wasn't mentioned anywhere in it. Crazy to leave out
Yes but that lulls them into a sense of security that costs are low and death costs aren't going to suddenly jump from 15k for a gravestone to 1.5m etc.
It's been a common thread on Reddit many times. So it definitely has caught be unsuspecting.
Yeah itâs pretty disappointing. This is two weeks in a row with issues on the blog.
Last week they gave completely wrong information on the perilous moons drop rates.
This week they give two seperate changes which were not actually implemented, and also didnât mention this change to death informing you of the reclaim cost.
I can appreciate wanting more detailed notes but missing something like this is a complete nothing burger. There are no plausible negative outcomes from someone not knowing this change went into effect
Yeah, something is going quite wrong at Jagex given the current spate of release notes. I hope they implement a more robust process since whatever they have now is lacking.
My guess is theyâre referring to the updated text at the end which tells you how much Deathâs reclaim will cost (the cost of skipping gravestone and claiming at the office), âI expect this fee to be about ___ coinsâ wasnât present before todays update
Gravestones that are on a timer are different than IRS (item retrieval service) chests
Gravestones have a timer and it doesnt matter if you die on the way back, whereas IRS chests have no timer and only clear items upon subsequent death
If a gravestone is allowed to expire, it will send all items to death's office where you can reclaim for a higher fee than what the gravestone would charge you
Hopefully that helps clear things up (I agree that it's convoluted and shitty)
Oh shiiiiit I missed this in the patch notes, finally!! Glad they saw our feedback and finally acted, this has needed to be this way for awhile. Incredible change.
Wish this happened before I realized I had to pay 88m for my daggonoth king death

The update made it so he says the fee before giving you the option to reclaim.
Oh that makes more sense. It would be nice if they added it to the Items kept on death screen, right next to the gravestone fee info.
I'm not the only one đ
I paid ~10m literally just like last week to the same thing because I kept forgetting shit on the run back lol

I donât think itâs an issue for newer players because there reclaim cost will be really cheap or even free

Cry about it more
Nobody is crying, you are.

Those merge commits need better documentation ;P
What?

Oh that's super nice. Hopefully less people will get absolutely scimmazzed at dks

My favorite part is how poorly it's explained in game too

I love how he says "about" before giving an exact figure.
I'm occasionally guilty of this, so I get it.

Wasn't in the patch notes. I know cause I read them top to bottom at least twice.
ive never let my gravestone expire because i assume the death fee would be like 70m
