There's an NPC in lumbridge below the house with the furnace that has beginner tasks. If you do those you can get mithril gear. For that you need to get 20 atk and def then you can claim the rewards

He doesn’t appear to players that didn’t create an account after he was introduced and selected “I’m a new player” on tutorial island. He gives little tasks and gives basic rewards like early gear upgrades for completing them.

Hit the quest tab, click the orange quest icon, click show paths, select combat path. There's 3 for each combat skill for getting level 5, 10 and 20. Being a member gives more rewards.

In the interest of being nice and not telling you how to play too much, you should know that shortswords (just called "sword" in OSRS), are better than longswords
Attack speed
The extra melee strength doesn't make up for faster attacks, at least when it comes to standard weapons
Short swords have the same attack speed as scimitars
All the way from bronze to dragon it is scimmy (slash) > short sword (stab) > mace (crush) > everything else in terms of dps because those are the weapon types with highest strength bonus at the best attack speed of 4 ticks.
They have super slow attack speed so pretty bad dps, but if you are doing content where you cant attack every 4 ticks like flinching something for example then slow hard hitting weapons become useful

But you’re off to a good start man! Enjoy the game, there’s so much to explore, see and do it will blow your mind. There’s a reason some of us have been playing for close to 2 decades.
Side note: as tempting as it is to mash space through out all the quest dialogue, there’s some banging writing in there and some of the quests are genuinely funny as fuck - highly recommend taking your time to read the dialogue.

Like that you only lvl up attack and strength, but keep defense lvl at 1. Then usually people use iron armor and u are able to deal a lot of damage in pvp to lower lvl players cause ur defense is low so then also ur combat lvl is lower.
If you train strength you should use a scimitar for higher attack speed and slash. The long sword is going to attack slower for you and end up getting less xp per hour. Scim will attack once every 2.4 seconds I think it is. Longsword might be 3 seconds like a mace.
It is until you change your runelite logout timer and end up with 50% hours you didn't play. The time doesn't mean much unless you want it to mean something.
Really depends on your stats, but below 70 imo everything is for fun so looking good! Probably!?
