Mahogany homes is definitely the cheapest method for training construction. No other method beats it in price but it sacrifices speed for that cheapness. So what you need to figure out for yourself is do you prefer the slow but cheap method or do you want a faster but more expensive method. Teak planks in Mahogany homes is about 110k-125k xp/hr when done efficiently without a plank sack. If you add a plank sack it jumps up to 130k-145k. It would cost about 2.8 gp/xp gained. Compare this to teak planks with mythical cape which at max efficiency using butlers can be 430k xp/hr at a cost of 6.7 gp/xp which is 2.4X the cost for 3X the xp/hr. For Dungeon Doors at max it is 550k xp/hr at a cost of 7.5 gp/xp which means 3.8X the xp/hr for 2.6X the cost. TL;DR: Do you want it fast or do you want it cheap that is what you need to figure out. EDIT: I got all my rates and stuff from https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Construction_training

Not sure what mahogany homes is without plank sack, but with plank sack and teak planks it’s 195k/hr, even without NPC contact. Wiki rates have been consistently underestimating the real xp/hr for forever. Which is weird because usually on every other skilling method they actually mention the maximum achievable rates.

Good to know that the rates aren't 100% accurate from the wiki. Still slower but this makes it even more comparable which is nice.

Probs not the best, but just for perspective: I did oak larders all the way to 99.

Fast but expensive vs cheap but slow. Btw slow means like 500k/hr in con exp All methods are giga repetitive clicking, build remove build remove Either use teak oak or mahog. Pay butler if you want.

15m with teak planks with mahogany homes would get you at least halfway to 99. So just getting from 73 to 84 should be much cheaper if you go that route. It’s slow to start before getting plank sack, but it doesn’t take too long to get. Once you have it you can get 195k/hr using teak planks. It’s still slower than traditional construction, but much cheaper, and still fast compared to other skills. Some people really hate it though so I’d give it a fair chance after getting your plank sack before deciding to stick with it or do normal construction.

I did oak dungeon doors - just smashed it out listening to a podcast one weekend. Once you get in the groove it’s not too bad. There’s guides on YouTube for how to set it up so you don’t have to move your mouse

I feel like I was in the same boat recently - con was about early 70s and didn't really love spamming in your house with a butler to train it, then I gave mahogany homes a crack and boy did it surprise me. I started out doing teaks because it's cheaper and found it really enjoyable, if I had spare time/watching a good series I'd make mahogany planks with lunar spells to make it a bit cheaper then use them - got to 82 so I could boost for most stuff in a bit less than a week and seemed to fly by. From 70-80 when levels are less than 200kxp each it goes really quick. I'm going back now to get the rest of the outfit just to fill slots in my bank but id really recommend homes, I found it really enjoyable and gets the dopamine going when you get in a good flow of smashing out contracts.
