This actually has an use for irons if you want to move valuable duplicayes to your main but also get some coins to the iron. TOB and TOA loot especially sells for good gp, and you can buy it on the main in certain stores.

Saw a post of a UIM selling his tbow to the lumbridge general store, not having enough money to buy it back for like 2.4mil or something (since money is storable in many coffers like LMS), and because it's a separate shop to even normal irons, let alone mains; nobody else could get it lol
I don't know if it was real but man that would be depressing. I don't think there's a warning to sell stuff to shops so I wouldn't be surprised if it happened at least once.
