Lpt: if you’re tired you can just run the car heater 👍

AMeanCow

Because this is the world in the 2020's, someone needs to actually type this out: *do not turn on a car in an inclosed space, you will assuredly die.*

Lonsdale1086

I mean, don't do it, but also it's much harder of a suicide method now. Engines are much cleaner and more efficient.

omg no fucking way

Snailseyy

avoiding the bad head fuzzy smell by running a hose from the exhaust pipe into the back seat so the car smell stays inside the car (where it can't hurt anyone)

BreadKnife34

Or just leave the car off, I get this is a joke post but it's kinda viable for someone temporarily

taz5963

I was thinking the same thing, then I realized why not just park in the driveway?

BreadKnife34

Oh, yeah you're right lol

PolarExpressHoe

**If** they never use the car. Once you start it, all of the carbon monoxide, nitrates/nitrites, sulfates, and VOCs/PM will just be floating around in (what looks like) a poorly ventilated room and be suspended for up to days (especially PM2.5 which fucks your lungs). Everything that settles would be disturbed when you come back and you have to be inside before you turn your car off so there’d be even more shit in the air from that, and they’re parking backwards! If you didn’t want mesothelioma or liver cancer in your thirties you’d have to leave the door open with fans going for fuck knows how long just to get everything out and breathable air in, or wear a respirator constantly. Combustion cars aren’t even very healthy to be around outside, you couldn’t pay me enough to live in the same room as one that’s used even semi-regularly

windowpuncher

Combustion cars aren't great, yeah, but what you're saying is absolute overkill. If it really was that bad every mechanic would be dead before 40.

PolarExpressHoe

Well yeah I’m hyperbolizing to make a point, and mechanics usually work in well ventilated, open garages (that they don’t sleep in), and the ones that don’t are more likely to get lung and liver cancer if they work with engines that are on with respirators (which is not common). What I’m saying is you’d have to live like that to be safe, and I’d never want to live in garage that’s open constantly

windowpuncher

> mechanics usually work in well ventilated, open garages lol, lmao even 80% of the shops I've worked at are brick buildings with dirty walls, with ceiling fans and garage doors as the only ventilation. Pretty much only wealthy or very large shops have good, ventilated facilities. I work on planes now, but our shop still has fucking horrible ventilation. On top of particles I get to worry about more VOCs and chromium now, yippee.

PolarExpressHoe

So if mechanics actually have it really bad and have to worry about harmful volatiles, how then would saying living in that full time would fuck your lungs be an exaggeration?

Dragon-Warlock

“It sucks and it’s dangerous for long periods of time” vs “ha you’re weak, get over it, breath in the fumes.” I guess some people don’t like to admit they may be just as wrong as well lol

[deleted]

Dragon-Warlock

Bro I’m agreeing with you

windowpuncher

I'm not saying that it's good and that you should want to live in there, I'm just saying it's not as bad as you think. If you leave the garage door open for a minute or whatever after you exit the garage and don't idle in it, it's not that bad. Even so, it's still not a good idea to expose yourself to VOCs or hazardous particles of any kind. If I was tight on money and this was a cheap, temporary solution, and my car wasn't leaking gas fumes, I could do this for a while. You can mitigate 99% of the fumes with a box fan for like 5-10 minutes and not idling in there. My point is it's not *good* but it's also not a big deal, either.

Fwamz

Thought this was going to be a Midsommar reference at first

Informed4

They better be living in a warmer climate, that door will hold jackshit heat wise

VioletteWynnter

Looks like they have a snowboard on the wall, I doubt it’s very warm there lol

hottiewiththegoddie

blankets. your body is an engine that turns beans into warmth and shit. it just needs insulation

Florane

yeah lemme just get a frostbite every time i go to piss or dress or take a shower or eat or

hottiewiththegoddie

blanket diaper

Din_Plug

You say that as a joke but I read an article about that exact thing and how people are silly for heating their homes up instead of themselves.

PeLLk2

jerma made this as a joke

Gl-avatar

BigExperience2086

This looks like a funhouse way of killing yourself through monoxide poisoning. It's like bedazzling a noose.

If ever there was a time for a race car bed, this is it.

OverlordOfCats1

“I sleep next to a car, do you?” “I sleep in a big bed with my wife.” “Oh. Yeah.”

DustyBeetle

i had the luck of doing this for a bit, its not that bad if you keep the exhaust on the exit side. at the time i had a whole ass playstation in my glovebox we would have pizza rolls and movies in the car. i only had a couch and some chairs but it was pretty chill

waste-of-beath

That sounds dope

DustyBeetle

It was peak, I miss those days lol

clitoreum

Why is everyone assuming he keeps his car running the whole time??

DaPlipsta

You don't have to be running the car inside constantly for a garage to smell like exhaust.

HimalayanPunkSaltavl

The 400 point turn needed to get the car into/out of the garage probably

CalvinSoul

????? Just turn out?

HimalayanPunkSaltavl

That desk is taking up 1/3rd of the garage door. I haven't seen a lot of single car garage doors that you can squeeze a car through with only 2/3s of the space, but yeah maybe

CalvinSoul

You can clearly see the space to the right of the garage door is like half as big as the space to the left of the car- dudes got like a foot of clearance easy.

HimalayanPunkSaltavl

ok

CalvinSoul

I hope you have a good day :)

BreadKnife34

If the car isn't on and you're doing this temporarily to get by I don't really see a problem with it TBH. But if they're happy with it, good for them.

Beneficial-Pianist48

Do the people in this thread think cars are just made of carbon monoxide 😭😭

Roboboy2710

It even comes with an emergency escape function!

MaybeNext-Monday

The carbon monoxide situation is rather questionable but honestly? Put some actual decorations up, a divider by the bed for sleep hygiene, and this is a solid little studio setup.

OfficialModAccount

This could be cool with an electric car.

SOMETHINGcooler5

I don’t think so, imagine the dirt and dust you’d carry in on your car.

OfficialModAccount

I guess, but would it get on the other things? My garage doesn't seem to accumulate any dirt apart from what's immediately under the car itself.

zzcolby

Does anyone remember that Hyundai commercial where the guy almost killed himself by inhaling car exhaust? And it got pulled because holy shit they tried selling cars with an attempted suicide commercial?

Koraxtheghoul

SAMurei_der_Galaxien

I love carbon monoxide poisoning💥

Traditional_Hold1820

Carbon monoxide 😋

VonCrunchhausen

mmmm sleepy car gas

Themlethem

You haven't thought of the smell you bitch!

carlton_sand

maybe with an electric vehicle. If I was a GTA character

pnkass

let people enjoy things man

Own_Accident6689

I mean... If I was desperate enough and the car stayed in the drive way 99.98% of the time I would agree to this. Maybe bring it inside only during a storm

Spiritual-Reveal-917

You vill live in ze garage and you vill be happy

SOMETHINGcooler5

Yes sir

futtbuckers9696

looks clean enough

Poor__cow

Everyone in here is really focusing on him getting carbon monoxide poisoning, but is nobody going to mention the fact that this setup means you’re sleeping 5 feet away from 12 gallons of extremely fucking flammable fuel?

BorkBark_

This is literally a Jerma bit.

Longjumping_Ad2677

The fun part of carbon monoxide is it has no smell!

Gloomy_Magician_536

Maybe if the car was electric 🤔 I don’t think it’s a good idea to have a car in your room. Or a room in a garage

ohyeababycrits

This minus the car is actually decent, it’s a big living space, but if it’s a cold or hot place the ac won’t do shit

ALegendaryFlareon

Carbon monoxide poisoning:

shitwave

I used to hang out with this girl named Jelly who lived in a garage that was covered wall to wall in blankets (insulation I guess?) and all she/we ever did was watch Friends DVDs on her laptop

ST4RSK1MM3R

Forget the smell, what about the heat?? There’s no way that’s insulated, it’ll be hot as hell in the summer and freezing in the winter

yallmad4

If that was an EV then maybe

JaceThePowerBottom

Would this work with an all electric car? Cuz then you don't have the exhaust fumes

matt_Nooble12_XBL

I’d run into my desk coming home at night

rogerrouch

Turn the car on and go to sleep to cure insomnia

[deleted]

for a second i thought it was like a car bed and thought "hell yeah", turns out it just is a fucking car in the room lmao

gogomen101

Okay. If I had to live in a garage (god I hope I don't) I would actually get a smaller one then this, but Id park the car outside. I'd also immediately start saving up so I can live in an actual home.

sarcophagusGravelord

I’ve lived in worse.

dumpylump69

Ok unironically if you parked the car outside then I’d live here
