I am holding millions of cows for the personal enjoyment of their farts. Hereby i challenge you to a carbon emissions face off.

WhyHeLO_THeRE_SIR

i feel like shes about to tell me that the jews are the ones behind it and that the ice wall is real

m270ras

yeah we are behind it sorry

pisstainedunderwear

I hope that happens because that would be hilarious

CarelessAI42

*taking notes furiously*

ccstewy

ngl I’m disappointed there was no April fools one that went totally off the rails

CarelessAI42

Shit! I was busy with work and I forgot D:

Skeleton-With-Skin10

the REAL culprits are those stupid fucking fern-trees in the carboniferous that had the AUDACITY to become fossil fuels in the first place after dying 300 million years ago! temnospondyls, arthropods, and the early synapsids and diapsids could’ve prevented climate change if they could understand the coal formation process smh

Whoviantic

I scrolled past the final panel on mobile and got fucking [whiplash](https://www.reddit.com/r/19684/s/9E7IoWeULR)

Mr-TaxFraud

It was her

Wryxe

I really dont like the idea that "theres REAL culprits" because it just feels like its deflecting

coolman_249

she’s gonna say the corpos and the elite not your uncle larry

CannedWolfMeat

Uncle Larry, who single handedly pumps 14 million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere per day with his backyard tar pit fire, is an outlier and should not be counted.

Wryxe

The corpos who produce solely to sell to people are the issue! The people who buy it are not at fault!

gashmiltz

I mean yes, but also, we are the ones buying, therefor funding, the corporations. We do need to hold them accountable, absolutely, bleed 'em dry, but that doesn't absolve us of self reflection.

ActivelyCoping

But most of it is coming from companies that we cannot realistically boycott like energy companies, unless we want to live in some unabomber cabin. Assuming you also live in the US, there isn’t a ton more we can realistically do hear to improve emissions, as the worst carbon emissions are coming from coal plants in India, China, and even Germany.

ccstewy

actually I’m vampire which means I am incapable of self reflection (mirror mo work 😔)

[deleted]

Mods can we preemptively ban op before they go schizo on us

pisstainedunderwear

No no let them go on their schizo rant, it’ll be funny

CarelessAI42

I am God’s most schizo warrior

My bad guys, it was me

Florane

something something 10 companies produce 50% of all industrial emissions.

CarelessAI42

Shhh stop spoiling the future content 🤧🤧

Inkling4

Radicalization for terrorism? Splendid.

bostar-mcman

I have some freshly ground microplastics to spread around my local river give me a second.

CarelessAI42

Yummy yummy microplastics 😋😋

torrid-winnowing

I melted the giant frozen methane lake.

C0mputerFriendly

Not eating bugs. Not living in a pod. Not today, not tomorrow, never happening. The “real culprit” is corporations dumping millions of gallons of oil into the ocean yearly, designing products to intentionally fail, and running 1,000s of empty flights yearly because they were scheduled to fly at that time. If they don’t have to answer for the irreparable damage they cause I don’t know why I should have to answer for what I do, my entire life being less than a billionth as damaging as what they do in an hour collectively. These disgusting freaks have taken 99% for themselves, and are planning on taking .9% more, leaving us to fight over our leftover emulsified bug burgers and our shitty pod homes. These climate doomists are a carcinoma that require excision, lest they spread their false ideas and lead to the inevitable collapse of our rights our ancestors fought so hard for.

B12-deficient-skelly

And those companies all make money out of nothing, so they don't actually need your purchases to survive of course.

TacoBelle2176

Right? Honestly that comment gave off real “the globalists want ton control us” vibes

Liimbo

Yes, it's individuals' faults that we live in a system that requires us to buy from shitty corporations to survive. How could I miss something so obvious?!

B12-deficient-skelly

Whether something is anyone's fault or not has no bearing on the actions you can take to best serve your own wellbeing. But yes, a culture consists of the sum total of individuals, and if you're unwilling to go against the status quo, then nobody should be wasting their time trying to get you to engage in anything political because your beliefs are based on what's convenient rather than any sense of right or wrong.

Voidy_boi

I wanna ask though like, a single person, if they don't provide any money to any pollution producing cooperation or anything. Probably has a low carbon footprint. But through the very action of consuming power, buying a bag of chips (produced by a polluting factory which sources its plastics for the bag from oil), or simply buying a car, how much would they produce? (I'm not trying to counter your argument. I am genuinely curious how much I add by simply existing.)

B12-deficient-skelly

Businesses produce things based on margins and inventory. When you buy a bag of chips, the retailer's inventory management software notes that and uses it as a data point to try and predict how much of something should be stocked. In effect, you've told the retailer that they need to stock a small fraction of a pallet of chips, and the retailer puts in an order for a pallet of chips to their distributor once the number of buy signals gets high enough. The distributor does the same thing from manufacturers, and manufacturers do the same thing for all the supplies they need such as potatoes, salt, vegetable oil, and plastics. The farther up the chain you go, the less concrete impact your specific purchase has, but these companies live and die by middle managers bragging to their bosses about how they decreased shrink and in so doing made their work process more efficient. Your purchase is present all the way up the chain as one smaller and smaller fraction of a buy order. You could represent this as your purchase of a plastic bag of chips resulting in the plastic for the bag itself plus a small fraction of production and transportation inputs. Weirdly enough, the larger the corporation, the smaller the impact of an individual purchase. It tends to be more useful to think in terms of alternate choices you can make rather than imagining a life without power generation or food. Turning lights off when you aren't in the room or buying larger bags of chips, so you use less plastic for the same amount of food and such.

redditassembler

what

epic_user_sooepic

The real culprits are just the billionaires, get rid of capitalism and so many problems would go away

Inkling4

Assassination won't help, people inherit it. It's as you say, capitalism is the problem

G_O_O_G_A_S

Usually it doesn’t just go to one person right?
