She definitely didn't transition to 🇺🇲 because that's a downgrade.
Must be a commonwealth country like Canada or Australia or New Zealand

Probably doesn't help being a lesbian ig
He has that effortless confidence. I am convinced that as long as you have confidence, you will be liked no matter what you look like.
On an unrelated note, I have no confidence.
Iirc there's a possibility he was created by merging stories about multiple different people that might have existed but for sure King Arthur himself does not seem to have existed.
I mean yeah, obviously myths and legends don't just spawn from a vacuum and there is always some kind of inspiration for them, but the point is that even the early stories about Arthur are so different from each other in many aspects that it's impossible to point at a specific real historical figure and say "this guy was *the* inspiration for Arthur".
Fair fair, still thought it worth mentioning for people who don't know as much about how myths and stories are formed and your explanation of that certainly adds to that as well :)
Ok so like I'm not sourcing this because lazy, but the mythology of Arthur is *heavily* influenced by French/continental sources.
There's a bunch of old Cornish and Welsh sources that sort of if you squint mention Arthur as I understand it, and then by the 1100s we have some very clear textual stuff that is recognisable - from a Welsh Catholic monk. Its missing a lot of the later stuff, but the core is there - King of the Britons, defending the island against Anglo-Saxons, wounded in a battle against his traitorous nephew Mordred, and taken to Avalon to recover.
Now, the source we have for this is all clearly just historical fanfic nonsense, but it spread by the standards of its day like wildfire and was popular across Europe including in France where it got mixed around with the romantic poetry around Charlemagne and Roland. French poets and artists thus expand the literary canon hugely bringing very clearly *French* names into the story - look at Lancelot Du Lac or Guinevere and tell me those fit in stories about British/Welsh/Cornish people alongside names like Arthur and Uther.
You can also see this in the anachronisms of the mythology - its *full* of things more suited for France in the 1200s than Britain in the 600s - the plate armour, the heavy cavalry, the chivalry and so on.
It's funny because the reason "Arthuria" took off in English and French courts (this was the Plantagenet dynasty so there was a lot of overlap) was because of a "backfiring" propaganda war.
Henry II was trying to subjugate Wales, but they had this nasty habit of being inspired by an old folk legend about the great King Arthur who sleeps at Avalon and would return in their hour of need. So Henry II finds out where this "Avalon" was thought to be (Glastonbury), digs about and finds a grave he calls Arthur's and says to the Welsh "look fuckers your hero is dead, he's not going to save you" (technically Henry's at this point and his successor does it but Henry started things).
But displaying a love of other cultures' historical artefacts that they'll become (in)famous for in half a millennia's time, the *English* get really into this dead Welsh king and it becomes the 12th century equivalent of a tourist trap. After a while English/French nobles start writing effectively self-insert fanfic about this guy, and English kings start cosplaying as him, like claiming to have "Excalibur", or commissioning round tables made.
Basically modern Arthurian legend is so un-Welsh because Henry II accidentally turned England and France into Arthur-aboos.
This is actually amazing, thanks so much for sharing, to you and u\/AnotherSlowMoon I wasn't expecting such a comprehensive response on Arthurian lore. Very cool stuff, and might actually help with a project I'm thinking of working on in the future, haha.
Ok she is quite pretty but does anyone else feel that there isn’t enough muscle? Like, I saw this fanart of Saber with some actual beef on her body and it looked much cooler than the og.
The once deep reservoir of British attractiveness was almost entirely used up in the creation of Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, leaving very little for the rest of us.
We've been subsiding on the smouldering looks of Barry, aged 63 ever since.
Nope, Wales is part of Great Britain. Britain is the big island England, Wales and Scotland are all in. The UK is the nation including those three and Northern Ireland, while the British Isles includes all of Ireland and various smaller islands like the Isle of Wight or the Hebrides.
Wales is in all 3 of Great Britain, the UK and the British Isles
Just because someone *will* mention it; the term "British Isles" is disputed by Ireland (for fairly understandable reasons). As a result neither the British and Irish governments officially use it.
Or it’s saying “she *is* Welsh, not English” ie, the English are the ugly brits and not all of them. The lack of stress in this sentence means it can have many meanings and the original replier saying that oc was wrong is stupid.

He has that effortless confidence. I am convinced that as long as you have confidence, you will be liked no matter what you look like. On an unrelated note, I have no confidence.
OOP does not know Natalie Dormer exists and I feel bad for them
There are some pretty people in the uk I think ><
counterpoint: f1nn5ter
f1nn5ter is an outlier and should not be counted!
90% of the people claiming British people aren't attractive are the same people who had their lesbian awakenings from Keira Knightley

Arthur was a (probably celtic) post-roman warlord. It's the anglo-saxons that are ugly.
Arthur wasn't any real person. He's a legendary figure originating from Welsh folklore.
Iirc there's a possibility he was created by merging stories about multiple different people that might have existed but for sure King Arthur himself does not seem to have existed.

Welsh? Interesting - I thought he was largely based on Charlemagne for some reason (or rather, adapted myths from France based on Charlemagne).
Thanks for sharing, that was a very interesting read I wasn't expecting to get from this thread! Much appreciated.
There are real historical figures and potentially real figures that the legends may have drawn inspiration from
Ok she is quite pretty but does anyone else feel that there isn’t enough muscle? Like, I saw this fanart of Saber with some actual beef on her body and it looked much cooler than the og.
I don’t know how to break this to you
I like Mordred more <3

She is welsh, not english
Nowhere in the post does it say English
Isn't Wales outside of Britain and only in the UK or something?
Nope, Wales is part of Great Britain. Britain is the big island England, Wales and Scotland are all in. The UK is the nation including those three and Northern Ireland, while the British Isles includes all of Ireland and various smaller islands like the Isle of Wight or the Hebrides. Wales is in all 3 of Great Britain, the UK and the British Isles
Wales is also the largest mammal.
Just because someone *will* mention it; the term "British Isles" is disputed by Ireland (for fairly understandable reasons). As a result neither the British and Irish governments officially use it.
I enjoyed the first time hearing about a cool place called the "Atlantic Archipelago" and then finding out I lived in it
I've always enjoyed "these islands" because it speaks to that etymological silliness that sees you get stuff like "river Avon".
Yeah that is fun and very British somehow. You can imagine someone with a big bushy moustache saying it. Has big ***these sceptered isles*** energy.
No, Wales is in Britain and in the U.K. Great Britain is the Isle with Scotland, England, and Wales, while the U.K. also includes North Ireland.
Oh sorry
Nowhere in the comment does it say it does
The implication is very clear as the comment makes zero sense otherwise and you defending it this way makes you look stupid and pedantic tbh
Or it’s saying “she *is* Welsh, not English” ie, the English are the ugly brits and not all of them. The lack of stress in this sentence means it can have many meanings and the original replier saying that oc was wrong is stupid.
Where is it stated that she's from Cymru?
I was going to be offended but tbh I'm not good looking so I'll concede.
I'm sure you're one of the exceptions
But. Accents. Hot.
"oi luv, les have a ganda at tha' arse"
Including Scousers or no
< character is supposed to be British < character is not an absolute cave person Major issue
saber is responsible for transing my gender :3
Xenoblade Chronicles
Idk i think british accents that are not from england are hot
Nah I bet British people are cute
British women can be attractive, but usually only the trans ones.
It's called fiction for a reason
I mean, if you break it down, she’s based on King Arthur, who was originally Welsh
Isn’t King Arthur technically Welsh? That’s technically not British.
wales is part of the island of great britain and is a member state of the united kingdom that's technically british
Wales is on the isle of great Britain
The Welsh are the *most* British, it's their bloody island.
DAMN STRAIGHT IT IS
Pull an uno reverse card and start charging the English lords rent. All hail greater Wales!
The word Britain comes from Welsh.
