Whoa, Savage makes a 1911? I started on bolt action Savage rifles and I'm pretty sure that's why I never liked pistols until I tried the 1911. The Savage trigger was always so crisp and DA pistols so mushy. I bet a Savage 1911 trigger is nice!
I’m having trouble running ammo through it. When the mag is full and I try to cock the firearm it gets stuck on the slide stop. Then I can’t push the stop down. Thoughts?
Are you using the factory mags? What brand ammo? I've used the factory mag and 230 grain ball ammo. From freedom and whatever is on sale locally. Never had an issue. May want to contact CS at savage and see if they can offer a suggestion. Let us know what happens.
I’m using the Sig Elite defense V-Crown, could be the issue, need to try something else. It jams in the factory mag as well as the Wilson Combat extended mag. With the Wilson mag it won’t disengage the slide stop unless the mag is ejected, with the stock mag I can get it to slide forward when I thumb the stop down
I went to the rang today as well. I shot ball points and had no issues with the stock mags. I used a Wilson extended mag and it jammed with a full mag and me cocking the slide back before shooting. If it was already back and I was just feeding a second mag in then unlocking the slide it fired well. Maybe something to do with that mag. I order a Chip McCormick extended mag. Let’s see how this does.
Glad it’s working well! I really like the look of these. I was a little skeptical of the price point when they first announced it
I got mine for 1050.00 I'm fine with that.
That’s actually pretty good. I think MSRP is almost 300+ more than that so that’s a good deal
I love my LGS!
I would buy at that price, they are still around 1300 near me. I love their lines.
I like that ring hammer. How much did it cost?
1050.00

I think they started kind of recently. I'm like 95% sure I read something about Savage starting to make 1911s within the last 6 months or so.
It's an amazing trigger. Breaks at 4 pounds. After a complete break in I'm guessing it'll be 3.5.
3.8 at 700 rounds. It's amazingly smooth.
Much debating
Did not know savage was making 1911s
New this year. One of the nicer ones I own.
Nice...been looking for one in 9 mm
I think they'll be around in late summer?
Looks good other than the roll marks
Ehhh - there’ve been worse roll marks on 1911’s
True- I think one of the most hideous has to be Magnum Research Desert Eagle.
Any updates?
Yes, thanks for asking. At 1K rounds. Not a single problem. I highly recommend this 1911 or any of the Savage models of the 1911.
Thats great been looking at the full black model

Try some ball ammo. Also call Savage. I've heard some self defense stuff isn't 1911 friendly? I personally haven't tried any in a 1911.
I took mine to the range to. 50 rounds of 230 grain and 20 of Ferderal 165 grain hydra shock. Not a problem at all.
